TONEX PEDAL AND HX STOMP HOW TO CONNECT AND USE THEM TOGETHER WITH NO MIDI PROGRAMING!

Hi Leon, How are you? I hope you are doing well... Do you know how to change the banks? I'm trying to use the configuration in the manual MIDI Patch Bank: Control Change # 0 and Values: 0 - 1 with the AirStep Midi Controller. I want to up and down the banks... If you have some tips... Midi bank command doesn't work like that. It's designed to move you between banks of 127 patches on a synth with may have thousands of sounds. The banks you are referring to are specific groups of presets in all 3 of your units. Just call the preset number from your airstep. If you are trying to scroll airstep banks I don't know much about that unit but standard practice is to use a pair of switches to enter or scroll up bank mode.

Yea jus set it up the other way round midi out from tonex and in to hx.

Great video! Any way you could shed some light on using the Tonex as a midi controller for HX Stomp? For example, changing snapshots etc via midi messages sent from the Tonex itself, and not through it. Hoping to use stomps ABC on the Tonex to change Snapshots on the HX. There are so many mixed signals out there of some people saying it won't work and others saying it will- Any chance you've actually tried this method?

The tonex is a bit limited as a midi controller. It will do program change but not control change.

Do you mean inside the stomp? Just bypass the fx loop.

Thank you for that answer, i watched the video on Tonex pedal. I ordered It and just received il,and surprise there is no button turn It on and off.So how ti do on the instruction nothing on this subject, thanks in advanced@@leonbrownmusic

@@pacificavox Oh I see. No . You can bypass it but to turn it off you have to switch it off at the wall or unplug it. Mine is on a board so it's only on at gigs.

@@akaerik1 there are a lot more bells and whistles on the stomp. And the drives are a miss but you can do a decent setup with Tonex for sure.

do you find the HX stomp colors the tone? also if I use a delay ( Tc electronic flashback X4) pedal after the tonex with the outs from the delay going into the PA I find when the delay is engaged I lose some high end and a slight drop in volume, have you experienced this?

I put the Tonex in the loop and yea there is a tiny change but that is to be expected. However it is soooo minimal and compared to the differences you hear from one venue to another even with the same PA its negligible. The Stomp gives you gain controls on the loop itself to negate that problem. If you a re really concerned the only other way is to send the tonex direct in mono with the other out into your delay then send the delay signal to another channel on the desk. TBH if you have a decent desk and are playing at volume just eq it back at the desk.

I’m getting some clipping into the TONEX from the helix while using distortion. Is this bad for the TONEX?

No idea but if that's the case you need to drop your levels to get the best tone. Digital clipping is awful!

From what I’ve heard the tone x requires an instrument level in, you can achieve this by using a send and return block on the stomp and setting the send as instrument level and return as line level 👍
