@cameronjm794 жыл бұрын
@@thepinkdickpuppeteer2844 I think that is the point. Acoustic guitars, drummer using brushes. Its supposed to be mellow. So that that soaring voices seems even more powerful. I think if you didn't already know the music and this was an original song it would not seem underwhelming. It hard for an acoustic to (have balls) compared to a beefed up strat tone doing interesting Jimmy Hendrix style licks, like in the original. Also, her voice is incredible but it sounds better with a mellower accompaniment, I bet that is what she is into. It would not be the same if the music was too intense. She doesn't really sing with that "Loud" rock kind of voice. Not to say that she couldn't but her style is definitely more mellow at this point. I think they nailed it.
@thepinkdickpuppeteer28444 жыл бұрын
Cameron M covering a song allows musicians to put their own stamp on it. Yes the vox are Intended to be up front with the band dialed down. As a musician of many years I would have approached the song differently. The song is in a different key opening up many possibilities. However the glaring omission of the most known part of do do do do do do do I don’t get. I guess it was too much for two of them to sing and play idk. Yes it was a beautiful rendition but if you can’t find cool sounding voicings for an e maj chord you’re not trying as a guitarist. The Rythm guitarist did two takes to layer the song with the 12. Wound up sounding like an REM cover. Point being, could of added tasty acoustic call and answer licks as well. Dudes wearing a MLB shirt yet does no justice to Stone Gossard and PJ’s song. The bassist’s contribution musically are the best part reinventing and making it his own. The drummer needs to practice more, weak ass fills. I am overly dissecting this song yes but if I’m laying a track down and publishing it under the LOLLAPALOOZA brand I’m looking to make it memorable. Her father and Pearl Jam were headlining acts of the festival since the early 90’s and are owed more. The girl covers hunger strike and looks like she’s into nostalgia and grunge honoring her father. You may think a distorted guitar doesn’t work But It does. Play along and add your own creativity to it.
@PeteThorn3 жыл бұрын
The Pink dick puppeteer you really missed the point. Completely. The point, and this was discussed and decided on with Toni of course- was to be smooth, mellow, build somewhat with a nice arc, yet stay out of the way. Making a bed for Toni to do her thing. It’s called “playing for the song”. I encourage you though, to show me and the others how it’s done - by all means, let’s hear how you’d do it- school us- I’ll be waiting for YOUR rendition.

Outstanding. Most youngsters will try to oversing or over emote. She just stays right in the pocket and lets this great song shine and the chills you get from the original are there. She sings with striking experience. Please keep going Toni Cornell.

I don't think words can describe how much I appreciate and feel for this woman. It must be so hard to get up and sing these songs, emotionally. And what a fantastic job she does. I'm one of the many that looked up to her father for advice, reasoning, and comfort through his music. I'm never really going to accept he's gone, because he isn't. He's alive in his children. Thank you Toni. You have your father's gift, and thank you for sharing it with us like he did. I hope you're around a long time.

Normally I truly hate covers, but this... What a beautiful voice. I was looking for a new voice, finally found it. Apologies for my bad English.

I don’t understand this thing people have of “hating” on covers. It’s just a cover, mate. Not a big deal.

The vast majority of singers sing songs that were written by other people.
