I will always remember this song. It brings me back to the great days when I was 13 years old. Wonderful!❤
Around new year's eve 1984, one of the major tv networks played a show called, Playback '84. My family didn't have cable, so anything that showed music videos was an absolute treat! I recorded the whole tv show on my fisher-price tape recorder. They played this video, and became OBSESSED over this song. I was in 4th grade, but I would still call radio stations and ask them to play it, but I never knew the name of the band or artist. Pretty much everyone I ever spoke to about this song was clueless. Some time in the mid/late 90s, I was flipping through late night tv and saw this scene in the movie, and just about died from joy. However, before the age of the internet and lacking tv guides, I had no idea what movie it was. I am so thankful for youtube, because I can still obsess over this song...it will forever be one of my favorites! BTW, I still have that cassette tape, it is one of my most prized possessions!!

That's a great story! I can totally understand loving this song. It's awesome! I saw the movie in the theater (yeah, I'm getting old) and I thought it was totally cool. This song blew my mind. I like how the movie is in a fictional world that has aspects from the forties to the eighties, and it all works. Streets of Fire wasn't profitable, and I suspect it's because there was too much really good competition. It also was difficult to market: was it a guy movie or a girl movie? I think it was both. It was also fun for the under-30 crowd (I was well under 30). This movie should have been a hit (IMHO).

All Jim Steinman songs have that "familiar" thing about them. +ᒍᗩᗰᕮᔕ ᑭᗩᗯᔕOᑎ I'll explain to you what I'm caucasing about here, that actress who plays the singer in this movie is diane lane. She plays Supermans earth mother Martha Kent in Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice. If you've seen Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice that already hit theaters this past Friday March 25th on a good Friday Easter you'll know what I'm saying. In Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice her alien kryptonian son aka Superman sacrificed his life fighting and defeating Doomsday while simultaneously Doomsday stabbed Superman with a sharp kryptonian spear while thus far Superman killed Doomsday at the expense of saving humanity once again by being killed. So at the end temporarily Superman died at the end of Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice, so therefore she lost her alien kryptonian son

While I am still not that old, and was only a small child when this movie was released, this song still invokes feelings of loss over a misspent youth. I regret not what did, but what I did not do: Deeds never done, risks never taken, dreams never chased, women never loved. You only have one life to live, but the best time of your life is your youth - your teens and twenties - enjoy it while it lasts, because nothing you ever do or experience afterwards can compare to how it was when you were young.

Jim Steinman packs more lyrics in a short space, sung at an intensity matched by no other song writer. Pure magic. One of Meatloaf's interviews he was asked if he could keep up with the lyrics or told just keep going if he couldn't and pick up what he could. Meat had no problem, It takes a special singer to stand tall and not miss a word in a Steinman song, but when you get that match, you get an outstanding performance. Meatloaf and Holly Sherwood were born for Steinman's brand of music. Is Steinman's style recognizable? Yes. Is it all the same? Not in my mind, but I would be hard pressed to name a Jim Steinman song I don't like.

Most of the singing takes place as performances within the music framework -- pure genius. ***** She was gorgeous and Michael Pare was the perfect hunk. I loved this movie in '84 after graduating college, and still watch it today. I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's sweet and nostalgic.

I was an 80's kid, and I'm still so thankful to have been an early teen when THE best movies, music, and gadgets were introduced. I remember watching this on HBO back in the day when it first came out it seemed to remain a mainstay on that channel for a very long time, so therefore I would watch it over and again every few months and of course got burnt out, BUT...to this day I own it on DVD and will go back and watch it every couple of years and its always just as good, and the same goes with another HBO mainstay from the 80s..."King of the mountain" with Harry Hamlin and Dennis Hopper...BAD ASS movie!

Rode my motorcycle in to town on a summer night in Halmstad on the Swedish west coast, to see it in the movie theatre. Still one of my favourite films of all time. ❤
