When did Gallagher become prime Zidane? In all seriousness, Gallagher is a decent player, hardworking, and much better on the ball than people give him credit for. But he’s also very easily replaceable. Chelsea are attempting to sell him for pure profit. It’s a business decision and Chelsea as a club can make whatever decision they feel is best for the club moving forward. That’s it.

The narrative is that Chelsea are selling a white English lad, who is the heart and soul of Chelsea (he isn't and hasn't won anything), that Chelsea are selling their captain (he isn't the captain), and are selling him purely for profit (they'd get more cash for Reece James). Clubs sell academy players all the time... United are looking to sell McTominay who scored more goals than Gallagher last season - no uproar...

@rishisunak2024 i think you might be focusing on the wrong thing. The fact is that he played a lot of games for you and had a good season. 5 goals and 7 assist from midfield. Played 37 out of 38 games. Also, the stand-in captain who ran himself to the ground(better work rate than anyone) which shows that he cares about his club. These are all facts that you can agree to. Then, why is he given 2 year contract? You think that's fair? No one that young, gets that kind of contract and the players he is performing better than have longer contracts with better pay. It's obvious they want to force him out and are not interested in giving him a better contract. Now, if he rarely plays for chelsea, then I think people won't make a big deal about it. It's clear he wants to stay at chelsea. If I were him, I would see out the contract, which I think he might do because if Chelsea's midfield starts crumbling, the fans would want him back and would be furious against the owners. If it wasn't for PSR and the owners' model, fans would want him to stay because he contributes a lot to the team. I can see this saga with other players coming up in the future. These players with big wages won't want to leave to go play for a lower fee.

It's more about how clubs are being steered towards selling homegrown players by PSR rules, which is not good for the Premier League or English football. As for Gallagher's quality, he is clearly a mediocre player and no top Premier League clubs have shown any interest in him. Like I said if he signs for another club right now, say 5 year deal 180K a week (after tax 120K) that will take him 4 years to get 20 Million, why wait that long when you get that straight into you bank next year from another club plus a 5 year deal anyway. It's PSR rules, more specifically. All European clubs have to adhere to FFP rules, but PSR (profit and sustainability rules) are only applied to Premier League clubs, currently. It's the PSR rules which are pushing clubs towards selling homegrown players for pure profit.

It's about wages and this what happens you over pay wages too players that don't deserve it, is he worth the 160k a week that supposedly been offered no chance.
