James brought up the average wages being brought down from 200k/week to 60k/week as if it's this fantastic thing. Well, it's certainly a good thing for a club owner but there's a couple things at play here. 1) As Shaka mentioned, they've doubled the squad size which naturally increases the total amount of wages being spent and 2) these 60k/week average players, or the 150k/week maximum wage players are not of the world class quality Roman was bringing in so they may have brought down the wages but they've also brought down the quality of player as well. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. Also, sometimes those long contracts that work in an owners favour, protecting against depreciating assets, works against them in the sense that they'd have to wait for years before a player could be sold without taking a loss on their balance sheet. Mudryk is a fine example, Enzo Fernandez another. They aren't exactly lighting up the League and due to the length of contract and their current market valuation, Chelsea can't sell them without taking a big loss on their books regardless of the lesser wages. This ownership group is all over the place and has been a comedy show since day one and it isn't slowing down. They should replace the liquidator with the Benny Hill theme song when the players take the pitch at the Bridge. 3 ring Circus indeed

Clearly you don't understand what amortisation really is and what the club is doing with it. Edit: did you even hear what Jame Olley said about the Mudryk contract for example ?
@USER06584B
@USER06584B 6 күн бұрын
the contracts have salary bumps. so if the team makes the champions league it goes from 60-90 or 100+k, if a player individually does well it goes up also. hence palmer and others recently signing new deals, these were already a part of the contract. additionally, the losses on transfers can be huge, even if they are able to sell, who is paying even 50m for mudryk or caicedo. they also got lucky with the saudi league all of a sudeen gobbling up players, that wasnt a thing before and that bailed them out. not to mention the hotel shenanigans, and if this team isnt successfull then they could be in serious trouble with getting players out and improving the team. Their data guys also need to explain the midfield and defense balance. their best defenders were already there before (fofana, colwell and even challobah before the loan move). the midfield with either a double pivot of caicedo and enzo doesnt seem that great. their left back options i dont really get, the goalkeeping situation is baffling. their attackers have overlapping strengths and wealnesses with the exception of jackson who actually gives them some kind of balance in terms of movement and work rate in attack. felix, palmer, and nkunku (who can provide some defensive graft), and even sancho to some extent, are at their best when they can drift centrally and are a focal point and main outlet in attack, i dont see how they fit together in the pitch moving forward. i also dont get the neto signing, nor what they will do about mudryk. if they get a striker then what next for jackson and whats the plan/thinking with guiu?

Shaka: 1. Said who will want to buy Jackson, a 23 y.o 65k/w striker who scored 14 goals and got 5 assists in his first season in the league. That's a brain-dead take. His only flaw is finishing (AND HE STILL SCORED 14 ), a lot of teams would feel they can coach that. There are a lot of strikers who had a poorer season than Jackson on a higher wage. Darwin Nunes, Rashford, Rasmus Holjlund. Craig: 1. De Jong on 720k/w is a bad example to contrast Chelsea. The highest earner at Chelsea doesn't even earn half of that. So that whole rant on Chelsea players holding the club hostage on 60k/w doesn't make sense. Especially when they can get the same wages and play elsewhere. Not everyone is as narcissistic as Criag. 2. Since the hiring of the Directors at Chelsea they've had a clear strategy. Buy young players and hope they become good. Is it a good strategy, no one knows. There is no textbook on how to run a club, NO. if there was Arsenal would have a league title in the last 20 years and City (currently dominating the league over the previous 10 years, wouldn't be facing 115 financial charges). Also, there is a graphic there that says Mudryk cost 70m. James literally says 89m. It's like including Tony Martial's Balon D'or clause in his transfer fee, only done when you want to create an agenda. Considering Chelsea had 43 injuries last season stockpiling players might be a sensible thing to do. There are two extra tournaments they're playing in that they weren't last season, conference league and club world cup. New financial restrictions are starting next season and they are facing a possible transfer ban, for infractions under the Abramovich era.

Well said my bro. Just can't understand why these have-beens ex players are this clueless. It's becoming annoying. Chelsea can easily move on these players. There's also the aspect of player trading for profits Clearlake is doing that most people don't understand. You take a look at our squad currently. It isn't that bad. You have the core of your team and you have the ones you moved for profit as we've done this summer with obvious examples like Omari, Angela etc. Plus the club wants to win the inaugural club World Cup as they sense most clubs participating in it would aren't happy about it and would field weaker teams as most of their starters would have been exhausted by then. It's an opportunity to win an 80 mill tournament right now. People just fail to think and comprehend

I'm not sure why everyone keeps going on about a power struggle. There is no power struggle. Clearlake own 62% of Chelsea shares and Boehley only owns 13% so clearly it's obvious who is making the decisions. whether that's comfortable for Boehley or not is neither here nor there but there's no power struggle. One side of this equation is making the decisions. End of.

What’s so hard to understand about signing Sancho and Felix? Mudryk not good enough leaving next season so we need somebody else on the left even though Nkunku and Jackson can do jobs out there. Neto can cover both wings. Felix can play all over the front 4 positions. Madueke on the right. Palmer can play central or on the right. You need 2 or 3 quality players for every position with injuries and 60-70 games plus per season. Also Mudryk was 70M not 90M none of the addons are going to be reached.

Sancho went to a UCL final last year and he started every game from January. He joined BVB struggling to get wins and stay in a UCL spot. He joined and I think they lost 3 games from the day he joined and 1 of those was a throw away game after they got a UCL spot and rested before the UCL final. He started every game but the first one. And created the second most chances for the team behind Brant who tool all of the freekicks and corners.

Even though Chelsea managed to offload a lot of players that they didn’t want, the transfer window that they had with the way in which they continue to run the club and sign all of these players is another prime example that they still don’t know what they’re doing. Rather than trying to build a proper team, they keep signing the same mold of players that they don’t even need and I get that they’re playing European football this season and it’s important for a team to have squad depth so that they can navigate through injuries, look at how many players are on their books and their dressing room has been expanded as a result of that. Enzo Maresca said that he’s working with half of the squad and for a manager, it’s a difficult job to be on a team where they have too many players as big decisions have to be made and they have to take ruthless actions to bring the best out of the team. At one point, they had 8 goalkeepers, they still have a lot of goalkeepers and some of the signings that they made didn’t make any sense to me. I can’t remember all of the players that they signed since they signed a bunch of nobodies who you never even heard of. The fact that after signing guys like Joao Felix and Pedro Neto, they still went out and brought another winger in Jadon Sancho who has been inconsistent for years, it tells you where they are as a football club and they haven’t learned from their past mistakes. Everyone knew that Raheem Sterling wasn’t going to play any minutes as long as he stayed at Chelsea and they signed Neto and he can play as a left winger, he’s at his best when he plays on the right, Cole Palmer and Noni Maudeke can play on the right wing and Felix is a better option than what they have in their team, but Palmer and Nkunku are number 10s and he has a similar profile as both of those players sometimes Enzo plays there if they want to use Lavia in a double pivot in midfield with Caicedo and when everyone is fit, where does he play, he can play on the wing, he’s not a left winger or a striker and they could be in a situation where he could potentially play out of position. Signing Sancho was also very stupid because again he’s a good player, but where does he even play and what’s his best position in their team is he better on the left or the right wing. They still have Mykhalio Mudryk and everyone knows that he’s trash and that he’s nothing more than a pace merchant no technique finishing or footballing IQ whatsoever. On deadline day, they were unable to sign Victor Osimhen due to his high wage demands, but what baffles me about how poorly they’re ran is that they’ve spent over a billion dollars and yet they still don’t have an elite striker, they don’t have a world class defender or a proper goalkeeper.
@douglasshedd6119
@douglasshedd6119 7 күн бұрын
Boehly would have gone after Costa or one of the established targets they had shortlisted before in goal. The Isimheb deal would have gone over the line, and they would t have signed Sancho. Signing too many players based on seeing a potential tally undervalued asset and not being able to hold back from buying them is one of his chief complaints o Eghbali’s approach. If Colwill and Fofana keep gel’ing and stay healthy , gonna have to disagree on the defender thing though. We’ve given up some odd goals aside from the ones against City, but those two have rated out really well in defense.

Look, I'm tired of folks like you who don't understand the transfers and keep making silly comments to sow more confusion among the fan base. Sancho/Neto/Murdryk on the left, but we all know Murdryk isn't good enough and would only play more of the conference league games. So that leaves only Sancho and Neto on the left Neto/Madueke on the right. Palmer would be stationed in the right side of the two no.8s. Felix on the left side. So far Nkunku has found it a bit difficult to play in those roles and if you notice Maresca played him on the left wing against Man City and on the right wing in the last game against Palace. He isn't a natural, creative passer of the ball required of the role. Go watch the first half of our last game against Servette. It was so boring attacking wise because Nkunku could not advance with the ball in that role and kept playing it backwards or to Madueke, which got us nowhere in that first half Enzo is more of a KDB style, dropping down to form a double pivot when we defend and moving up into the left no.8 when we attack. Personally I'd prefer Felix in that role, as he's very slick with the ball. Now Nkunku can play either on the wing or as backup striker to Jackson - false 9, which is what Maresca's system requires of the striker and Nkunku did that at Leipzig. What's there not to understand? As for the many players brought in: Look there are the players that form the core of your team and those on the periphery. How much do you want to move on a player you bought for a 100 mill or 80? Those are the core of your team. But still they can moved on owing to their low wages - provided you take a hit on the transfer fee Then the peripherals are the ones you sell on for profits. Yet those guys are clearly involved in this 60kp/w average wage that is now being briefed by the club. I mean when you're buying guys for over a hundred million why would they accept a low wage and have guys like chukwemeka on 100kp/w along with the reported 200kp/w for sancho they're clearly including every player they've signed to bring down that average wage regardless so it makes sense that the media would as well when discussing their squad tbh. All the wide options? Why do they spout this nonsense? Palmer and Felix are clearly better suited to playing through the middle. There are, then, four wide options: Neto, Mudryk, Madueke and Nkunku (who can also play through the middle). You want a squad with 2 players for each outfield position. The head-scratcher is Sancho, who was the last one in the door.

Eghbali and Clearlake are not chefs. They are middle wage catering directors who supposed to only be responsible for bringing equipment and material to set up the party. They aren’t the Michelin Chef pivotal to the event, and they don’t even own the catering company. They have delusions of grandeur. They’ve always wanted to be the star of the show, and pretending they are while the chef is tied up is their ticket. But not only will the event be ruined when the event sucks, the people that actually own the catering company will fire them. So no chef, no catering supplies… eventually no events. Todd would have trouble forcing Clearlake to sell shares to a better capital provider, who will be more hands off; BUT he can cause Clearlake itself serious issues, as either he or his friends own many of the insurance funds and pension accounts Clearlake have as clients. Eghbali is an employee with delusions of grandeur, not an owner.

It's smart business, that's what you clowns don't get. Buy a lot of young players, keep the best and sell the others with profit. Sure, now and then you lose, but most of the time you win in this football market. The prices in football only know one direction, up!
