Tony Collacott - piano
Bob Price - acoustic double bass
Ricky Marcus - drums
After watching a movie about a popular pianist when he was 11, Tony was inspired to practice on his own every day through the summer on an old piano at Central YMCA, where his brother worked at the time. That fall he was admitted to the Royal Conservatory and at the age of 16 earned an ARCT diploma with honours. He was judged to have a promising career ahead of him as a classical pianist but preferred to concentrate on jazz since he thought this provided more opportunity for creativity. Tony was well-known in Toronto jazz circles in the 1960s, 70s and 80s and was a member of several jazz groups including The Bossmen, Chimo and the Tony Collacott Trio. He is remembered in particular for his fusion of progressive rock and jazz.
