Third time Tony helped save a UFC fight card. He’s taken fights where he had nothing to gain and everything to lose. He really did help bring back sports during the pandemic. Tony deserves nothing but utmost respect.

@@Loco5919 I’m confused about your comment. The other guy didn’t say anything disrespectful, it’s true that he did have everything to gain from a win. He’s lost 5 in a row, most people get dropped from the UFC after 2 losses let alone 5. And I’m positive he would say it to his face because, and Tony wouldn’t assault him because he doesn’t want to go to jail and get sued. Stop being a fan girl and put on your thinking cap.

Yuup. I also feel bittersweet because an L for either of these guys is the worst timing right now. It hurts for both. More-so for Nate for obvious reasons... Tony flashed moments of prime Tony tonight but also could see that he has taken some zap out from that nasty ko. Dude was legit the F up in his last fight B4 tonight, hadn't even started much since, took this absolute style change on suck short notice... All that stuff can keep him in the mix for his name staying in contention for some more fights after tonight. He looked different alot tonight though. So yeah, prime time Diaz vs Ferguson would have been so sick. Honestly it happening now, may be for the best. It gave Nate a truly honorable opponent for this fight after all the disrespect in the leadup. I think we would have saw a way different post fight speech from Nate tonight if Tony didn't take the opponent switch. It changed the whole vibe for both guys. Bittersweet that that either of these guys taking an L at a bad time. For both showing wear n tear tonight. But honestly, it seems right tonight.

Na. Aside from nate retiring, the only reason it wasn't a particularly amazing fight is because neither of them had full camps and the opponents were chosen last minute. Not because it didn't happen 5 years ago. A full camp rematch would look way more exciting and what you would have hoped for.

Most people loves Tony because he represents the life of so many people. The life of hard work and dedication not getting paid of as one hoped, the life of getting screwed by the people you selflessly work hard for and the life of consistent chaos and defeat when you finalize realizing to put yourself above all. Tony is a sad story, but not a lone one.

To all those saying Tony struggled... You’re not reading between the lines here. This wasn’t El Cucuy in there with Nate. It was a Tony Ferguson who finally got a damn break. A less dangerous opponent, a massive payday, and nothing on the line. The giveaway was the quick tap at the end. We all know El Cucuy would rather go out than tap. Tony got a break, most likely the biggest payday of his life, and he fought the fight like a sparring match against another Chicano and OG like him, that he respects tremendously. Is he past his prime? For sure. But he wasn’t “distraught” in there. He was basically fighting at around 60%. And I won’t hold it against him. He deserves a damn break, finally.

It's weird seeing Tony so happy after a defeat. Normally he's quite hard on himself, even when he wins at times. I think he's realized that he's never going to reach the top brass again so might as well have some fun and make some money while he can. Personally I would like to see him retire but if he's enjoying himself and making good money then I can't blame him for sticking around for as long as he can. The UFC has a habit of keeping fan favorite past their prime fighters on their roster. Just look at BJ Penn, Cowboy and Silva for examples. Fuck it man, make your money Tony.
