Tony has exceptional delivery, timing and poise as a public speaker. There are professional stand up comics out there who aren’t as smooth as this dude. I’d bet the majority of American politicians aren’t on Tony’s level and they sell word-salad non-answers professionally. This dude didn’t spend his whole life practicing and honing this skill throughout his whole life like people in spoken word centric professions did either. His time had to be absolutely consumed by and totally dedicated to understanding and getting better at basketball, and only basketball, for him to make it. Making it to the NBA is damn-near impossible for almost every human on Earth. This dude made it and won multiple championships as a starting point guard despite being born into a normal, regular sized human body IN FRANCE. It’s amazing that he found time to learn English as a second language at all, much less to become proficient and fluent enough in that language that his communication is unhindered to the point that he is understood and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb surrounded by giant, bright neon arrows. But the fact that he was able to become slick enough to deliver a “roast” style set that contains genuinely funny jokes and doesn’t feel/sound awkward or clunky in front of a live audience IN A SECOND LANGUAGE is legitimately incredible. I don’t think most people would realize how fucking crazy that is.

He's also more comfortable with himself at this age and with his legacy. He legit had everything to become the undisputed greatest ever but lacked the edge that guys like MJ, Bird and Kobe had. And still he's one of the all time greats, that says a lot about his talent. He could do everything out there. Give Kobe that body, athleticism and talent and it would have been over. Kobe was in the gym 24/7 to acquire his skills. Not saying Tim didn't work hard, he did. But a ton of things came more natural for him. Kobe wouldn't have made the NBA without his mindset, Duncan would still be an all-star level player if he had been lazy. One of the best to ever do it though, salute
