It’s usually the other way around, the actor has to play a more intimidating character. But not many actors with his background. In the Sopranos, he played a deliberate caricature. The silver sideburns, track suits, gold chain, but he had the same neuroses as everyone else. And he did it well. I give him credit for learning a new craft.

Makes sense why he was able to play Paulie to perfection. His fear of being alone culminated in a mobster that is surrounded by his friends all day but in reality has no one in his life (besides his aunt/mother).
