When I was a kid in the 90's, when The Little Mermaid came out, I remember vividly a conversation I had with my grandma. She didn't act like it was anything extraordinary and because I was a kid It didn't occur to me exactly how unusual this story was, but i never forgot it nonetheless. She told me that when my grandpa (who died when I was 2) had gone overseas to fight in WW2, that they saw actual mermaids. If course I had a multiple questions...like did they all have red hair like Ariel and such...and she said absolutely not. That Ariel was not an accurate portrayal of an actual mermaid. According to what my grandpa told her these mermaids were hideous. They were people sized and had the upper body shaped more like a human than a fish but had fish tails and he said they had faces like fish and long tangled stringy brown and greenish colored hair that looked like snarled seaweed. They would apparently lay up on rocks that jutted out of the ocean (for some reason I think she said near the rock of Gibraltar but i could just have my many Easter memories watching Charleton Heston's the ten commandments mixed in lol). Anyway, these mermaids were shocking to my grandpa initially because we don't have shit like that here in west ky lol and he asked some other military person about it and they told him they were mermaids and to ignore them. Do not let them on the boat, don't feed them or engage in any way. He also said the mermaids would reach out at them as they passed by and would toss their heads back and scream as loud as they could. Idk. The man was quite the serious fellow. Fought on Normandy Beach, was awarded the purple heart, survived by pulling the dead body of the German that shot him on top of him before passing out from blood loss. Nearly lost his arm but never went home, went right back to the battle. Didn't meet his first born child until she was 4 when he came home from the war, went on to raise 8 kids that all turned out well and was the president of the United steelworkers union in Chicago until retirement. He never spoke about the war or his time overseas to anyone except to tell my grandma random experiences like this one. I don't see why he would've conjured up such a story out of nowhere. Take it or leave it, just thought I would share.

Apparently she did not think it was anything significant. I was so disappointed to hear this. If it were me, i would take it and show it to the whole town. Its crazy because my friend's friend died not long ago while he was fishing with another one of his friend, the place that theyve gone to fish at is famous for being a dangerous paranormaly active or something like that and they went fishing there anyway and at one point something flipped the boat (was a small boat like a raft fit for 2 people max) and pull one of the guy straight to the depth of the lake and the other guy manage to see that the "thing" that pulled the other guy was a woman but he didnt see her underhalf he just saw a hand and a head pulling his other friends to the depth of the lake, and after a search that took days he was found dead floating in the lake. I dint even know him but may he rest in peace

I remember seeing what I thought was a mermaid at the lighthouse beach in CT. I can’t remember how old I was, but I was there with my dad and brothers. A thunderstorm started rolling in fast and they were telling everyone to leave. I was the last in the water. I remember looking up at the clouds and as I looked down something was in the water well last the safety net at the rocks of the lighthouse in the water. I swear I couldn’t see that well but I was straining my eyes and I swear I seen a silhouette of someone’s upper half with hair. I stared maybe what felt like a few minutes… there in the water and I noticed all these baby jellyfish and fish coming up to the shore… and I looked back again and whatever it was still was staring or seemed like it and then it went back down in the water. I turned around frightened to my dad asking why was there a person so far out like that because the water is dangerously rough and wanted to know how they got past the net … my dad chuckled and urged me to get out the water so I did. I swear I had to have seen one watching all of us evacuate the water.

I have 2 family stories about mermaids. 1. My great grandmother said her and her brother were at the beach around sun down and heard singing. Not singing with words or a song melody. But more just beautiful notes and tunes. They walked around the cove to see what was making the music and saw a mermaid on the rocks. She said it was hideous. They took off running scared… she told the story as an absolute fact. She was a black woman from the south who lived a hard life. She didn’t joke or really talk much. But when she told that story, it stuck with me… 2. My great uncle fought in WW2. And he said that they saw mermaids at see. They would swim along the ship . And when they were present, the ship would sound alarms and send everyone under deck. But he said he remembered vividly that they were hideous and maid high pitch whistle sounds.

I remember when I visited Nigeria in high school & the locals told me the same thing they told this man.. "not to go out near, on or around the lake after dark because of water cryptids." The Bible says they exist!! And that the Earth is a mystery; that there are many things that are hidden on the Earth which will be revealed within a particular time. I remember hanging out with classmates (I was a foreign exchange student at the time) had an erie very close call clowning around a small lagoon we frequented close by the school!! His account reminded me so much of what I experienced. These things aren't animals.. they have an interdimensional nature much like aliens. They hate ALL HUMANITY, eat human flesh, I'd dare to say are jealous of us, they feel evil.. emit evil & are evil. Animals on the other hand, have a separate, distinct placement & purpose from them. Animals exist in order to eat, procreate and protect what they have.. . this isn't evil. These beings *ARE* evil. There are still living dinosaurs which the West claims are extinct but live in deep deep deep rain forests within remote areas, they're also found in local lakes, deep lagoons & ocean banks all over the world🌍🌎 The Smithsonian institute with a handful of other Western government constructs are set up in order to confiscate & hide these info or completely keep it from the public access in order to keep it's citizens dependent only upon them to validate information. Which is why I laugh when people claim that "science" hasn't proven their existence! The information in the West is kept frighteningly under tight control to keep the masses incoherently stupid.

I agree with everything else but i have to say... they aren't evil. they just don't particularly favour humans especially considering what we have done to their homes. they mostly don't care for humans, they only become agitated once humans enter their territory, they will not hesitate to kill you, e.g this guy's account and how he felt he should get out of the water. some beings don't like humans with each having their own reasons while others don't care or don't have a problem with humans. it's simply that any and everyone chooses what they want to be whether "evil" or "good" some angels can be "evil" while some demons can be "good" it's all about free will and making choices.

I was seduced by a mermaid while swimming at night once is this same place, the Seychelles, this 1 was definitely female. She/it somehow put me in an almost trance like state where I knew what was going on wasn't normal but I felt so safe and peaceful almost like this thing wanted to take care of me, it led me to some rocks near a sort of cave entrance or alcove it was hard to tell because it was dark, just before I was led fully in a boat appeared with a guy shouting at me to get away it was quite terrifying but he managed to pull me up onto the boat. He turned out to be a fisherman and he told me to never go in those waters again and that I was lucky to leave with my life.

Please read this. I seen a mermaid. WA state. 2009. Southern part of the puget sound, the south end of the puget sound at a campground next to the ocean. I went for a walk with my Dad, it was about midnight, a full moon or close to. Clear skies and a warm night for WA. I looked out at the beach and on top of a big rock I saw a lady playing with her hair, I pointed it out to my Dad and said no girls that crazy it's a seal, next thing you know I see the mermaids upper body turn towards us and I can tell she sees us, she then turns back to the ocean and dives in. To this day my Dad thinks it was a seal but seals don't play with head on their hair and look humanoid. I know what I saw.

Actually we haven't seen WAYYYY more then half and there's depths that we may never be able to go to, what makes us think that things didn't adapt to live down there especially when we know that some mammals like whales are able to go to those depths, yes they're much bigger so they could handle the air pressure but what's to say humanoid things couldn't of adapted millennia ago, it's really not that far fetched, evolution is a fuckin strange thing, what if they adapted since the time of Pangea? With so many things and creatures on the land heaps of creatures would've had to adapt to the ocean, it's definitely a possibility.

Think about how easy it would be for a mermaids to avoid all human contact if it wanted to. Every time we're in the ocean it's either near the beach or we bring huge boats with us. Stay away from those and they'd never get spotted unless they wanted to. If they were intelligent they could easily do this. The ocean is soooo big, it's funny that people think they know what's down there. We usually only travel above the surface and whenever we do exploratory diving it's always near a boat and easily avoided by the fish. There's just so much beneath that we'll never see

Lo and behold after 10 minute something made a splash on the side of the boat and when one of the friend saw it , he said “uh oh we fucked” because there and obvious mermaid looking creature starring at them . Big eyes green, grayish skin hideous looking of-course. 3 of em start losing their shit cuz they dont believe it. From a boring fishing trip turn into chaotic horror scene. 3 of em wanted to go home right away while the others start praying to god . The boat captain, getting furious to that one dude that mentioned the word mermaid because before they start their trip. The captain said that we need to think twice before saying words especially when it comes to mystic stuff.

@@destinationfer2 true. BUT! what is an adult from the US doing at a beach at night alone with a "lil French boy"? creepy stuff and then he starts seeing "mermen" He probably saw "seamen", or something that is spelled literally quite similar

My father in-law is a Nigerian immigrant and that’s pretty much exactly how he describes the “mar” maids as he pronounces them

I just talked to him briefly about it and he said he’s personally never seen one but has talked to multiple people that he said wouldn’t have any reason to make it up that have. He said he’s seen other things but didn’t have time to go into detail about it. I had looked it up a while back and there’s been a lot of sightings and stories on Mermaids in Africa

People say it’s a lie when you can’t process what your hearing as truth. It’s seems easier to call the person out then to entertain the idea of rare beings we don’t understand. ❤❤❤

My God that was hilarious from the beginning...too honest in his opinion and right out of the gate he comes in with "They told me not to talk on Joe Rogan podcast,"..."cuz, anything I say they won't believe me!" Joe-"They'll believe you," Tony- "They told me not to mention 'MERMAIDS' or talk about it" Joe- "Talk about what?!" Tony- "I saw a Mermaid..." Joe- "You saw it?!" Tony "IT WAS A SWIMMING PERSON!"...Yep, nuff said with that Freudian slip right there...
