No need for skimpy outfits and lashings of makeup...just a pure voice and a naturally beautiful young woman . This song is a gem 💎

In the BBC vaults there’s an unbroadcast episode of the Good Life in which Annie Haslam breaks down outside Tom and Barbara’s house and it turns out she’s an old pal of Barbara’s from her hippy days. It never went out. I wonder why….

I remember this appearance very well....Jilted John came on after them,which I loved but apparently was not appreciated by certain members of Renaissance,who slagged him off in the Melody Maker that week, and why not? At the time i thought Renaissance was hippy rubbish,but now i love them....and Jilted John (Graham Fellows)too. An interesting juxtaposition between the one note dirge of Punk Rock and the polyphonic splendor of Progressive Folk that you just don't get in these crap days.
@elspencer63342 ай бұрын
Jilted John was hardly a one note dirge. It's satirical, humorous, and highly intelligent. But undoubtedly beyond the wit of those miserable prog-rockers who slagged it off.
@jonnyzchivago76232 ай бұрын
@@elspencer6334 alright, two note dirge then, albeit a funny 2-note dirge.

Jilted John followed the third TOTP appearance by Renaissance on 10th August. This upload was the first performance of ‘Northern Lights’ four weeks earlier on 13th July.

Annie was going on a US tour with Renaissance, she didn't want to leave Roy. It has nothing to do with the aurora, its about the northern lights of england behind the wing.

Yes, but at least it is a specifically recorded mime! Not the same as the album or single that was released.
