Nice explanation sir but I have a doubt patellar flexion and extension are accompanied by tibial flexion and extesion while rotations are accompanied by tibial rotation during locking and unlocking but when does patellar tipping and shift movement occurs???
@karthickindra4271
@karthickindra4271 2 жыл бұрын
The patella shift and tilt occurs accompany with the patella rotation during tibial rotation..

Sir medial nd lateral rotation of patella takes place in which plane. may u please tell. normally medial rotaion nd lateral rotation takes place in transverse plane . but here i am confused

Amazing video sir 🙌🙏 I had a few doubts Will the flexion extension of patella in closed chain follow the same pattern as open chain? And sir as you mentioned locking unlocking will lead to a component of patellar rotations as well , what about the frontal plane valgus varum coupled motion, how will that affect the patella?😅😅
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, definitely...patellar motions depends on the degree of tibiofemoral motion.The motion of patella follows the motion of tibia due to its attachment, thus in frontal plane coupled motion where valgus and varus are coupled to flexion extension it do effect patella too.. gd luck nice question

Sir it was really a nice explanation but I have a little confusion as I know that medial tilt is the movement of medial posterior facet of patella and lateral tilt is the lateral posterior facet's movement of patella ... Plz can u help me out with this ...
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
thanks for writing up......your notion is correct medial tilt can be described as the movement of medial posterior facet of patella but its always better to describe it as movement of medial facet close to the medial femoral condyle and lateral as movement of lateral facet towards lateral condyle....this seems a simpler way of explanation. goo luck

Good morning sir! When would patellar tilt and rotation occur?
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Goodmrng ...good to hear from you...patellar tilt occurs in longitudinal axis which means it occurs in transverse plane and hence it accompanies movements such as medial rotation and lateral rotation and rotation takes place in AP axis thats in frontal plane.
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
But with reference to knee range of motion above patellar motions occurs not in just in isloated movements like knee flexion or extension. But in all movements at various degrees and stages patella is constanlty moving,tilting, gliding,rotating etc. The extent may vary, thus patellar motions are crucial for knee joint range of motions...good luck
