Hi Tony.. at 16.16 time you said there is Protraction during elevation of humerus at GH joint. if we talk about full range elevation of humerus at GH joint, there is overall net slight ER and slight retraction of scapula. SC joint retract though AC joint can have slight IR to keep glenoid fossa facing anteriorly. This retraction you can feel as well as we elevate our arm to full we can easily feel clavicle retracting and since its connected with scapula, scapula will retract as well. This can be seen in mirror as well. This is slight retraction at superior angle. Since scapula is rotating upwards so its hard to figure out this retraction as it look like scapula is protracting. I quote Ludewig and colleagues "the AC joint actually internally rotates during shoulder abduction. Any potential internal rotation of the scapula is normally offset, however, by a greater magnitude of retraction at the SC joint". Slight IR happens at AC joint towards end range so that our glenoid fossa can face anteriorly and we can pick or pluck higher things in front of our eyes, this is how our body evolved and become perfect biomechanical machine. So overall we should say retraction and protraction. Whats oyur views. Thank you.

Hi Tony.. please clarify on this. Clavicle posterior rotation is coupled with posterior tilting of scapula. This is clear to me. If clavicle and scapula were at 90 degree there would have been 1:1 ratio between them. Now angle between them is 60 degree. Text says only 1/3 magnitude of clavicular posterior rotation will couple with posterior tilt of scapula. From where does this 1/3 come from ? I can guess that 60 is 2/3 of 90 so balance is 1/3 there is some connection but what is that geometrical connection ? I fail to figure out. Could you explain ? Thank you. 🙏

Dear Tony, Thank you for your effort. Can you clear my doubt? In your video @ 16:20-23 you said about protraction movement, but didn't mention about retraction. If it's my misunderstanding, sorry for that.

I dont know what have u done sir ! U said u will simplify integrated functions but what actually u have done is made it complicated , very smartly u have escaped from that plane of motion concept and just taught the degrees of scapulothoracic joint motion and glenohumeral joint motion . Didnt expected this from you ! Very bad lecture !
