Hi Tony. Anther beautiful lecture..one query.. Is it possible to have genu valgus due to tibia medial plateau going inferior compared to lateral ? May be due to collapsing of medial arch in foot. Just exploring.. Thank you. 🙏
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
hehe shaliesh what can I answer in this, its just like medial arch should collapse and then tibia plateau should go inferior...I dont think thats all not possible in human body...may be my limited knowledge. Theres flat foot in patients but they dont have this sort of genuvalgum, may be there can be slight changes but I dont think it can be there to be clinically identical. Its not just arch that support the tibia If its so then when arch collapses or goes flat in daily activities it should produce changes in tibia.

Sir I had a doubt, ligament laxity in case of valgum should be in the medial compartment and in case of varum should be in the lateral compartment, meaning to say on the opposite side of the compressive force because laxity will be caused by stretching of the ligaments pushing them towards the plastic zone in the stress strain curve right??
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Ya absolutly right...good job...good way of coorelation. Moreover to ur knowledge if u observe video i have also mentioned laxity - pseduolaxity of ligaments that hppens in same side..thts something to think on...here at side of compression the ligaments get shortned and move to the CRIMP region- i guess u can get it, its from stress strain relations...so ligaments to some extent behaves the same as being lax at plastic region at thisCRIMP or TOE region too...but usually we neglect it clincally as such great deal of compression and joint narrowing is not seen in usual scenarios....

sir, what biomechanical changes occur to the side that undergoes tensile stress???
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Incase of valgum the lateral compartment is subjected to higher compressive forces and lead to increase in compression of lateral Compartment. But at the sametime medial side should hv tensile force distrcting it but thats evident only in cases of very severe genu valgum.. otherwise softtissue structrs are capable of withstanding increased tensile force.
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Insuch cases the softtissues like ligaments would get strecthed out, and severe cases it can if the valgus or varus forces are high enough it can lead to ligament laxity occurs when softissue reaches plastic region of strss strain curve. And as per stress strain curve it can lead on to ultimate failure too but vry less likely to hppen in real life

Sir is there any term physiological 'varus', You have taught about physiological valgus....that i undersrand properly... But in a slide share i saw physiological varus...which is 2degree Then i searched it in google... But i did not find a proper answer... Sir what is physiological varus???
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is physiological varus..but u need not worry on it with second yr academics...but if its curiosty to learn..,well good ..physiological varus is seen in some children upto age of 2 from birth and it resolves by 2nd year...here physiological means something prsent by birth but within normal limits and resolves after few years of life...both physiological valgus and varus are seen. Valgus is more prediminant therefore we often stdy that..valgus resolves by 7 and varus by 2
@TonysTutorial

Amazing question...keep exploring
@saurabhrana356
@saurabhrana356 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir .. It really helps me.. But sir as you said that physiological 'varus' is seen upto 2 yrs that means there will be no physiological valgus at that time.. Is this right or i m missing something? Because either physiological valgus can happen or physiological varus can happen at one time.. And it means after age of 2 physiological valgus occurs in femur Sir please correct my statement..
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Saurabh Rana no rana, thats in some people there may be varus, but in majority its valgus...varus is occuring in few people and if it does in them valgus would be missing...both cant coexist tghr

@@TonysTutorial yes sir now i am totally clear with this topic thank you so much... And one last ques. Please🙏😅 How to measure physiological varus... As valgus is measured as an angle formed between mechanical and longitudinal axis .. So how to measure physiological varus?
