I like that use of the Lydian dominant for this song. I also insert a B7 #5 in the second measure(which follows the beginning Dmin6 chord) followed by an E7#9 and later in that one chromatic scale(starting with the Dmin) I frequently use a D pedal tone with rising triads in a modal tonality like Dmin, then a D Dorian and then D Phrygian, etc.
