In Dec. 2023 I began talking hydrolyzed collagen and did so every day with coffee and sort of forgot about what it could do for me. Once in awhile I would look closely at my skin and noticed nothing better. Nails were terrible as usual. I was using topical Minoxidil for hair loss which was working great, so it is hard to tell about my hair, other than my hair loss was no more or less. So I figured it was going to be a big let down. I continued to take it and suddenly by about the 5th month I wondered what was different with my body. Then I realized movements that made joints hurt not longer did. The aches and pains of old age were 90% gone. So that is worth to me more than any cosmetic effects. Hubby reports the same.

The product she put on your face was a product she sold herself, no? Always consider your source! If someone tells you something else doesn’t work then tries to sell you a version of their own, they’re lying. The way people talk about a product tells you a lot, too. Are they informed? Is what they’re telling you accurate to your knowledge? When you’re informed yourself, you can’t be fooled by ignorance from other people.

Great video but I've got a couple questions... (1) If hydrolized collagen is a protein broken down into individual amino acids, then how do we know whether the body will actually use those amino acids as collagen in the body, and not turn it into some other protein that the body needs instead? Are we just assuming the body does indeed convert at least some of the amino acids into collagen because studies show an increase in pro-collagen, hydration, and elasticity in the skin after a prolonged period of intake? (2) Also if collagen is broken down in the body to amino acids anyways, then how is that any different from taking hydrolized collagen?

Because your body needs the amino acids to build your own collagen. If you’re suffering from any of aliments mentioned, you’re lacking the proper levels of amino acids to make collagen.

That's a good question! There are only 9 essential amino acids that our bodies can't make. Basically nine types of bricks as metaphorically used in the video. So what system in our bodies determines the priority of how these "bricks" are used?
@Katiee05924 ай бұрын
Our bodies were designed with very specific details and processes. We may not know the answer, but I have no doubt our bodies know which group of amino acids goes where for the most beneficial outcome. Great questions tho! I’m eager to hear the answers from someone knowledgeable. Love minds like this! Asking questions and being curious is the gold key to the door of intelligence 💗

But what’s the dosage per day to take when taking hydrolized collagen?
@carmaela268911 ай бұрын
I take collagen in my morning coffee. 2 scoops is 36 grams of protein. I can't do dairy (and that means whey), so I tried this as an alternative. I love it. It has helped me keep an adequate intake with protein. It's missing the tryptophan but I eat plenty of good whole foods that naturally contain it anyway. My paper thin nails that bend and peek have gotten thicker and stronger.

Am I the only one here who sleeps INFINITELY better since I started taking collagen? I suffered of insomnia my whole life. Never tried sleeping pills. Collagen "cured" my insomnia the very first day I took it. Funny thing is, it wasn't the reason at all I started taking some. I just wanted to preserve my youth. lol I had no idea that it was one of the benefits.
@Blechinstrument7 ай бұрын
It's the glycine in the collagen that does that

Would collagen help a person, who lost a lot of weight or had a baby to get the elasticity of the skin back? Maybe this could be an alternative to a tummy tuck, especially if the person is still young and the excess skin is not so extrem.

Several places recommend red light therapy for large pores. I don’t know about results. You can go to a professional or buy a red light panel for home use, but you need to find a recommended red light panel, not some fly-by-night company that offers masks and wands that don’t do anything.

@ewic989813 күн бұрын
Appreciate the scientific and medical perspectives you bring to collagen supplementation. The studies you reference are definitely high quality but you fail to convey the limitations and nuances. The studies examined individually have very small sample sizes and lifestyle factors were not considered in the analysis - for example are the people taking collagen also wearing sunscreen, eating a healthy diet, avoiding alcohol and smoking, using retinol - all considered beneficial to skin health. Just because you have anecdotally seen collagen work for your patients, doesn’t mean it works for everyone, so don’t discredit the physicians who deny it and don’t let your own business agenda of selling your own collagen prevent you from taking a more sympathetic and middle ground approach to recommendations. If you are really trying to help patients, you should also be recommending lifestyle factors and maybe trying these first before dropping more money on your collagen supplement that might not even work for them.
