Riding the regular 1300 GS (after owning the 1250) and absolutely loving it. 15000km since May, been to Iceland an Romania with it from Germany. I am 175, all I can say is if I were 185 up I would probably adopt that new GSA. Love the « Defender » look ( wait till you seen nice side pockets on it and you love that manly tank), great saddle (maybe the only thing that’s not as good on the regular 1300 as the 1250) and I can predict that the torquey 1300 will do the job on that one as well. I will keep my regular one for reasons explained before and because I will still be more punchy or sparing with it than with the 1300 GSA 😇, but honestly congrats to BMW! I think they nailed it and are simply 2-3 years ahead of everyone (for that category 😉).

As well as not having a bottomless wallet, I listen to what comes as standard on these bikes with my standard thought of "that's just another thing to go wrong at some point". Having just returned from a sort road trip to Wales from the UK south coast on my 2012 R1200GS, and experienced no hassles, no starting problems, and the Vario boxes held all my clobber I guess I'm just not BMW's target buyer any more. They'd got it right by about 12 years ago, and went off in different 'techy' direction.

The average height of men around the world is 5'9" with only the Netherlands having men's average height at 6' tall. Even Germany has an average height of men just shy of 5'11". Why must they make motorcycles for men who are 6'2" with inseams greater than 34"? I am just shy of 6" tall with a 31.5" inseam and I had to get a low seat and even a low bracket for the front of the seat. Just to flat foot my 2023 R1250 GSA. That's crazy. With the GSA having that massive gas tank making it extremely top heavy, forget how light it feels when riding, it's the stopping that get's you. I dropped mine twice the first week because I was over a low spot in the driveway. It has been a lot better since getting the low seat and bracket but it's still very top heavy when you come to a stop. That's the only thing I don't like about it. If I had to do it again, I'd get the GS Low version. And I forgot to say that I still need my motorcycle boots which give me an extra inch of inseam. With regular shoes, I am still on the balls of my feet.

If my choices were BMW and KTM, I'd probably go with the KTM, too, but it wouldn't be for the looks. They're both butt ugly.

Bikes are just getting taller. Anyone with an inside leg of less than 30 inches, are being pushed out of biking.

I owned a R1200GSA and was realy proud. The Design of this new 1300 is so ugly, that I would fire the designer 😂. The old times with ugly design are back for this model.

Apart from the obvious (it's hideous and the ludicrously bloated tank area, is desogned by Mr Lego) the ridiculously complex options package, and associated costs, have put the lid on BMW being out of their minds. I run a BMW 420 GranCoupe and a BMW R1250GS - so i'm not anti-BMW - but this is totally mad in the world we live in in 2024. Glad to say they will not be bleeding me of any of my hard-earned....

Built by BMW Lego. These bikes have become too expensive...and I had a new 1250GS.

GSA 1250 for ever

The cost is becoming bloody expensive for a device that can’t keep you dry, and will definitely dissolve away from our salt laden British winter roads. I’ll stick with my Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro (ex demo purchased for a bargain price) and a cheap car

LMAO, what, “an off-road bike” I have lost my mind, or maybe the motorcycle world 🌎 has.

Not sure if it’s too big, heavy or expensive……but I can assure you the new GSA is definitely far far too ugly! 🤮
