In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Absolutely love these ones when you're on the back foot the entire time. It really highlights just how much you're taking into account when you need to focus to preserve every HP. Super impressive run, can't believe you survived Act 2

43:23 An example of this was a recent A20 run I won. I swapped into crown on clad, and had already kinda written off the run in my head. I limped my way to hexaghost with 6 hp remaining and managed to eke out a win. Hexa gave me the bell, which had anchor, blue candle, and dead branch. Automoton gave me a corruption and it was gg from there. Never give up!

I forgot to mention, I also got apparitions mid act two. That run ended up reversing course very quickly.

That deck is a great illustration of how cool this game is. At first glance it's a mess of half baked synergies but they came in an order that was solving the fights as they appeared. It's not that you don't get to to cool combo to win in that game, it's that you having to do them in time is what you should keep in mind rather than just mix maxing for numbers.

I just beat my first 2 Heart fights back-to-back with the Silent. First run was a scuffed poison deck. Didn't plan for act 4 until I got 3 Shrieks at act 3 lol And the second was a god run with all 3 eggs by act 2 boss.

However, with how detailed he is in explaining everything he does and talking about all of his picks; it makes it easy to follow the video without watching it. It’s almost as if he makes his videos accessible to visually impaired fans because i can fully track everything he does with eyes closed trying to sleep.

Snecko eye + reaper is such a goofy combo. Because of the energy inconsistency, you take a lot of damage in half of the fights, but because it evens out to be a positive, your health still goes up over time

Those first couple of fights with sneko seem to be every fight with it for me. Conformation bias perhaps but I feel like I die before the tax is paid off.

Might be an issue with you taking it with a deck that doesn't work well with it. Granted, all I really know about snecko is expensive cards = good, cheap cards = bad

Ok baalalord, lets see if you are reactive. Thanks to you i kinda climb like7 floors from a 12to a 19 as ironclad in least than a week. Usually i roll on act 1 but i got so rekt in act2 in the first floors ( stupid birds or parasite, i usually loose atleast 30 hp) i cant say how much i m frustrated but i really need advice for act2 in the very beggining. On my way on A20

The birds are brutal. For me? See a whirlwind, take a whirlwind. 4-energy whirlwind knocks down the birds. Shockwave can nullify a lot of their damage and is a must take. Flame Barrier wrecks birds. Having one twin strike can often allow you to knock one down since it hits twice. At the highest ascensions, the birds and most of Act 2 fights are a big damage check. Also, Act 2 elites are the most brutal IMO. You need AOE in Act 2 for almost every fight and 2/3 elites. I’m like a 20% winrate on A20. Im sure there are people who will comment their suggestions if you ask this question early on the next few Ironclad vids 😁. A18/19 are no joke. I was stuck on them for way too long. Don’t be discouraged. Practice and persistence.

Also, Feel No Pain is unaffected by frail. Making block more consistent against all the debuffing opponents. True Grit+ is A-tier IMO.

Watched this run and decided to do my own clad boss swap and got an extremely similar snecko swap with a toxic egg to easily defeat the heart. It apparently is that easy!

Giant Head takes 10% increased attack damage for every card you played this turn. That effect is already factored into the damage number on the card.

Are you planning to stick with clad streak attempts until you hit your goal? Or are you planning to switch focus at some point. The 400 heart kill and mastery challenges had a natural variety to them compared to this year's run videos which are almost all ironclad so far. Which doesn't bother me personally but I wonder if it leads to diminished video views? I'm happy either way but was curious what your plans are 😊 I just miss Defect runs a little bit 🤏🏻
