I would like to Thank You for representing a age group that is not getting as much love, here on The Tube, as well as from the industry as a whole :). Seeing your so responsive to your subbies, I have a new issue since trying some new BB/CC creams. For a few years, out of frustration, not being to get a shade match, at an affordable price, I have used powdered mineral makeup. Now that I am trying liquids, no matter what brand I try, the foundation does not "melt" and blend into the pores on the very tip, of my nose. Lol..I have all these dots. Very unattractive! I exfoliate daily. No problems anywhere else on my face. What would your suggestion be? Maybe a primer?

It's probably not the foundation/primer that is the issue. When I turned 42 NO foundation was working out until I changed my skin care routine. I exfoliate daily, added in a glycolic acid toner, apply retinol/collagen, and a really great oil at night (rose hip). I also started drinking a ton more water. Now I apply some Dewy and Smooth by Maybelline, and it sits like I've had botox. I shy away from mattes, but most BB and CC creams also sit well on my skin now too.

Thanks, Sinndy! I've got the same advice as Lenise! Exfoliation has been the key to getting my pores (especially my nose) to chill out so that foundation doesn't sink into them. And on me at least, I can go chemical or physical. I started out with physical exfoliation, using the Dr Brandt Pore Dermabrasion cleanser, and that seemed like a miracle worker! Now I don't do those cleansers as often (due to the whole micro-bead environmental issue), and instead I do chemical exfoliation with glycolic acid toner (I started with Pixi and now to Tarte Knockout). It really helps my pores and I notice within a matter of days if I get lazy and stop doing it. Foundation settles right back in.

Ladies, I too have had the same issue with my nose. Not just the tip (haha). Since I've been using 2 forms of BHA-salicylic acid, I've had tighter pores...still have issues with makeup sitting on top or sinking in and looking like reverse polka dots? That sounded confusing even to myself. I mean, it's improved but still weird. Have a fabulous weekend

You’re the one I’m going to start following for foundations. I am ALL about dewy (hell WET) foundations. The more oily glow the better in my opinion. I’m into my thirties and wasn’t so proactive in my skincare when I really should have been. I’m very dry and showing signs of maturing skin (dullness, fine lines, creasing, sun damage, texture, and enlarged pores in my cheeks). I love your vibe and style. I used to be all about a matte finish, but it's so hard to find a matte that doesn't enhance the fine lines and pores and dryness (which all seem to get worse by the day, even as I throw crazy amounts of skin care at it now!) I wish I started my skin care routine sooner... I got serious about it around age 35, but the sun damage was already done. Now I'm the other extreme, loving the dewy look and all the highlighter in the world!

When you're eye shadow and highlight game are so bomb that no one will notice your foundation. :-D I was curious about this foundation but I'll stick with the No. 7 Lift & Luminate. I'm fortunate that one shade (out of only a few) has managed to be a match all spring and summer - it probably helps I'm not going for full coverage. It has the glowing finish but lighter coverage than Dew You was claiming. I'll stick with the Pixi Glow Mist as well. Looking forward to The Emily Edits video. Is it too much to hope for at least three looks? I'm personally obsessed with Grateful and LaughCry. It's also wonderful that Family is a dark purple that still looks like purple and Corduroy still looks like dark green instead of nearly black. Lower priced makeup really has become better than high-end.

I should have the first Emily video (yes, there will be more!) up Monday! I was thinking of filming 2 more looks, like doing one look on each eye. Those are things that I can film at night (it takes forever to film multiple looks over multiple days when it's like wearing-them-to-work kinds of days). I've never done a video like that but I saw one recently and thought doggone, that's brilliant! I could crank out way more eyeshadow videos if I can film them at night and get 2 looks in 1 video! :-D

Geek Out of Water My favorite three/four-looks, one palette, tutorials are from Judy C. and Bailey B. Definitely take a look at Bailey's The Wants video. I would love to see you add your creativity and add yet more different looks than hers. It's funny what you say about one eye because Angela Bright once said that the reason she only shows her eye is that she only does one eye because it takes time and she has to go places. I myself spend the most time on my eyeshadows at night right before taking everything off for the day.

As a sister 40-something woman, I love that you're still daresome and it encourages me to just be myself and wear my makeup how I want to, regardless of age! Thanks, Valerie! It's definitely not dewy on me, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're hoping for dewy (amongst other reasons!) Have you tried MAC Mineralize hydrating? That one runs beautifully dewy on me.

I would probably do a horrible job demonstrating my hair, but basically I put in 2 high pigtails, then for each one I twist my hair up and wrap it around the pigtail nub, and then wrap a hair tie around the ball of hair 3 times :)

Love your eye look today! The foundation looks pretty smooth from this side. Strange that it's not dewy when "dew" is in the product name. :/ Too bad about the lack of staying power and the drying factor. :( I went to TJ Maxx today to look for some new skincare products to try, ( skincare addict here), but also found some Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting foundation for $12.99. ($44.00 at Ulta) I couldn't help myself and bought a bottle despite the fact that they were all in individual plastic security boxes making it impossible to choose a shade. And the product's box is a dark gunmetal color with nothing but a tiny color strip on the front of the box that doesn't really match the actual shade. The clerk at the register unlocked it for me and pulled the bottle from the box so I could see it before paying for it. As it turned out, it was a pretty good match. It's a dewy finish, light to medium coverage foundation. It's buildable but is stated on the box to allow the first layer to dry completely before adding another layer. It's so smooth! Leaves a nice satin finish without the usual shiny/oily look with many dewy makeup products. It has a loose, watery texture with a long eyedropper applicator. A little goes a long way though. Thanks for turning me into a foundation collector! :D

I just bought this product, I tested it at Ulta many times and I hope for the best. I actually like the way your skin looked however, it's your skin and you would know your own expectation. I have never tried TF Foundation due to their undertones. I just bought the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and I found it a bit drying and I’m combo oily / dry. Still playing around with it. I have always done under eye concealer first, I guess I’m backwards lol but it works for me I’ve never noticed blending issues. Your eyeshadow is beautiful.

Thanks, Titus! When I use color corrector, I do my concealer first. I don't notice much difference either way (at least not when the blending is working!) I've used this concealer probably a dozen times with other foundations and no troubles, so I definitely think in this case it's an issue with the foundation (even though the concealer is their brand, too!) I always assume things from the same brand will play nice with each other, but that is so often not true. Oh well!!

I was so surprised how much I didn't like this line - it sounded perfect from the name! I actually like the Peach Perfect foundation better (though it is more of a soft matte finish - but it doesn't dry me out, which is unusual for a matte).

So it has to be the foundation because you haven't had an issue yet with the Born This Way concealor. Another strike against the high end ones! The color match wasn't that far off, to be honest. Even in the outside daylight check in, the color looked good. I LOVE the eye look. Can't wait for that video! I have both palattes from Emily and I'm going to be playing with them this weekend. Yep I've used the concealer at least a dozen times now with other foundations, zero issues. You would think things would work best all from the same brand, but I find that's very often not true. :-/ Self tanner is probably as close as I get to being a yellow undertone :) I'm already almost pale again since filming this... probably done tanning for the year! :-D

I was thinking that when I went back to edit the footage - it definitely looked better on camera! I almost upped the grade, but I decided to stick with my gut and if it changes when I wear it again (although I'm dreading that), I'll update it in the next follow-up. I think it generally looked fine at a distance. I think I'm the most irked about the finish not being dewy and it feeling so drying.... those are two things that I was *SO* looking forward to about how they sold this one!

Love the little bauble earrings (and how you cleverly did a matching bauble-shaped hairdo! LOL). Well this wasn't my fave foundation you've done. Maybe a good thing from my perspective since TF is hard to get my hands on (only a couple of places way down south stock the brand).... plus it's a little expensive here for a brand that's never done a foundation with a finish that appeals to me in a shade that would flatter me. Loved the eye look, and whaddaya know it's the Emily - mine arrived 2 days ago and I've been playing - it's so very pretty, especially those greens, pinks, purples, berries (and they also look great teamed with a "stray" mid-tone grey I've brought in - I kinda wish one of the 4 "mid-neutrals" - they're all very warm brown on me, even Hobby - had been a true grey or mauvey-grey taupe).

Yep I think the same with the mattes - I wish one was more grey/cool! A few of the shades in this look turned muddy on me, which bummed me out, but I was able to get them to work. I'm finding that as long as I don't overlap colors, the palette is wonderful - but they do muddy up when shades get overlapped. I think everything Emily had a part in - like the color story - is fantastic.

Thanks, Resa! Still taking Halo! I just started my 6th bottle last week :) I'm now alternating days between original Halo and the new kiwi Halo (the skin-only version) to see if I still get enough of the original to keep my nails happy but also get the benefits of the kiwi version. (The kiwi one is $10 cheaper, so it would help my price-per-month! They're expensive!) But if I notice any change in my nails, I'll go back to only the original. I literally haven't broken a nail since May, and by the first week of June I know for a fact that all of my nail surface was "made by Halo" (because that first week of June, I trimmed off the last of the damage I had from wearing acrylics, which coincided with starting Halo a few months prior). Halo has worked wonderfully for my nails - and my lashes and brows have grown in fuller as well! I can't tell re: the hair on my head... I've always had thick hair. :)

Yellow undertones always look bizarre on me! 😂Changing skin is almost entirely why I dove into foundation in my late 30s. I didn't like what I was seeing and foundation makes me feel so much better.

I feel like Snow in this one is a little darker than Snow in their other 2 foundations, unfortunately. :-/ Their shades are always so wacky too me.. always shifting yellow and jumping around lightness to darkness. I've never found a match on me, any time of the year! But I do love Peach Perfect, even if it never quite matches me.

Thank you! I will add it to the list to try filming, but I anticipate a very awkward video of me flailing my arms all over the place :-D I basically put in 2 high pigtails, then I twist my hair up and wrap it around the pigtail nub, then wrap another hair tie around the bun 3 times :)

I’m very yellow in skin tone, Shelly, but Too Faced foundations are too orange for my liking. I’m in between your two shades you picked up, too, but I can’t wear Snow because it’s definitely too pale and Golden Beige is too orange. I can’t get any of the Born This Way concealers, either. Guess Too Faced will always be the Old Navy of cosmetics for me: nothing fits quite right. I love that lipstick on you!

Hi Shelly! I had no interest in this foundation....yet I watched the whole video. You are really good at this! Love the eye look (btw never in a million years would my eye shadow stay on so well for all that time! Soupy eyelids) Love the eye look, earrings, and that t-shirt is a great color on you. From my pov, the makeup looked really nice at the end of the day, but of course I understand we don't see it as well as you do. Foundation fail....yet onward! Have a great weekend.

I was thinking when I edited it that it did look better on camera than it did in the mirror... magic lighting I think :-D Every time something scores low like this, I'll wear it a couple more times just to be sure. I'm not very confident that this one will change! I have pretty good luck with shadows staying on me. I don't know why (I don't do anything special to my eyelids) but I surely will not complain! :)

I’d be interested to see how this one looks if you use it in Snow. That Golden Beige shade was so yellow, that was all I could see. Doesn’t the word “beige” usually indicate a cool/pink undertone? Too Faced drives me crazy, trying to get a color match 🤦🏻‍♀️

My self tanner is fading fast and I'm done tanning for the year, so I should be able to try it soon! Though it had so many other issues on me, I doubt I'd wear it even if snow is a better match.

Crazy question. Lol. I have to take my nose ring out in order to get my foundation on my nose properly. Plus it gets all over the nose ring. How do you manage to leave yours in?

Hi J! This is probably going to sound gross, but I've been doing it for years and haven't had a problem, so.... here goes! I basically twist the ring so the closure ball is outside of my nostril when I apply foundation. I sometimes do have to specifically take my finger and apply foundation around my nostril where the ring sort of blocks it (and sometimes I miss spots... shrug... oh well lol) - and then after I'm done applying my foundation, I twist the ring back in place so the closure ball is inside my nostril, and moving the ring sort of cleans off the foundation from the ring itself... then I dab it off around the piercing and done! There's probably 5 years' worth of foundation inside my piercing, but... it hasn't caused a problem yet! It's probably not the best method 😂

Not yet but I am absolutely going to! I didn't like their shipping & packaging when I ordered the Emily palettes directly from them (one of the other palettes I ordered was broken - it shipped in bubble wrap with a plastic bag! No box! It's amazing the Emily palettes survived). So I'm going to wait until it's at Ulta. I think they said it should be at Ulta by the end of this month.

I wonder if it's an allergy with you. Many times there are "hydrating" foundations that dry me out badly, and I think it's because they have aloe or other things I'm sensitive to. This one didn't dry me out at all, but I couldn't make it last for more than an hour before it broke down in the center of my face, and I'm dry AF, so...

hi, shelly! what a disappointment from the get go! on my end, that shade was close to the color of dijonnaise but i was hoping it would be a good dijonnaise - lol! hopefully you can work some shelly magic with it and find the way to make it play well with others. i wonder about being water and silicon based is part of the problem. however, it do look good from a distance but no one wants a 20 ft parameter around them all day, every day (just some days, right?) hope the day is treating you well and continues through the weekend! take care! ~k

Thank you! I need to force myself to remember to check for fragrance, because my nose rarely notices it (grew up with parents smoking around us, and I think it dulled my sense of smell).
