The Bee Gees received a lot of backlash for having big success during the disco era, but they are much more than just the disco era, they are one of the top selling groups of all time, multitalented and they had great success writing songs for themselves as well as many other artists. They are definitely legends.

They did make a lot of great music, but they could never escape being associated with the disco era which most people look at as a laughing stock. When they recorded stayin alive for the soundtrack of saturday night fever they became the face of disco. From that moment on they defined disco and disco defined them in the eyes of most people.
@mikeyaureliush9017

@@Rowgue51 Where do you get the idea that disco was a laughing stock? Basically it was about having FUN (which was the original idea behind popular music) dancing to music. A carte blanche condemnation of disco? I would just like you to explain why. Examples of disco songs: Billie Jean, Don't Leave Me This Way, We Are Family, I Will Survive, Love to Love You Baby, I Feel Love. Do you class those tracks as "laughing stocks"? If so, why?
@Rowgue51
@Rowgue51 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikeyaureliush9017 I'm not saying it's my opinion, but it IS the prevailing opinion. The disco scene is consistently the butt of jokes, even from some of the people involved in making it what it was. And I wouldn't class anything you listed there as laughing stocks. But I would also only classify one of them as a disco song. Everything produced during the disco era isn't automatically a disco song.
@mikeyaureliush9017

@@Rowgue51 I selected those songs from the Billboard magazine list of 35 best disco songs of all time, you can look it up. Anyway, I consider those who criticise disco as just oafs. If some1 just says they do not like disco, that's fine, we all have different tastes, but the snarky remarks about it are just stupid. I think there is a lot of negagivity amoung some paid music media hacks. Just ignore them.

Wrote over a thousand songs for themselves and many other artists. No autotune - just raw talent. Barry just celebrated 53 years of marriage with his wife. ❤

Oh gosh, Dani.... If you start listening to the Bee Gees, you are going to be gone for awhile. lol Every song of theirs is fabulous. When I was a young teen I had their yellow album, The Best of the Bee Gees. Every song on that album is beyond belief. I've watched so many Bee Gees interviews, concerts and performances and I always felt that Barry was the beautiful one as far as looks go (I noticed your smile when you first saw him lol); Robin was my favorite. I always felt he was the heart of the Bee Gees. When the video started he was standing with his hands on his hips like what they were going to do was just a normal thing and when they finished his hands were back on his hips as he sang. He just seemed so down to earth; Maurice, to me was the attention getter. In videos you'll see him jumping around from time to time, waving his arms and making faces throughout their performances. I still find it hard to believe that he and Robin were twins. Thanks for your reaction, Dani. I look forward to more of your reactions of the Bee Gee brothers. Take care and be well. Peace.

Probably the most under appreciated group in the history of sound. Their careers spanned over 50yrs but their domination occurred from 75 through 81. They sold well over 200 million albums. They and the Beatles are the only 2 groups to have 5 songs in the top ten at the same time. Seeing this women’s reaction to their music is sad because the media fulfilled their mission in destroying The Brothers Gibb careers.

Ahh yes, The Bee Gees, I grew up with their music in the house in the 70's, being 10 years old disco dancing with my Mom and sister. I am so glad I was alive during that time

Siblings have been known to have a very similar voice signature. When they harmonize, it's quite stunning.

Nobody, I mean nobody writes songs like this anymore. So melodious, so harmonious leaving you with goosebumps all over your body. Put your headset on and dream away. Try not to get lost in paradise. Nobody comes close to this original sound of heaven

Hey Dani! I'm new here. I remember these guys seemingly just taking over the airwaves in the 70's. There are a few videos of them singing with their younger brother Andy, who had a great (but too short) solo career. My favorite few years of music are '77, '78 and '79.....there is so much quality music in many genres during these years. The level of fame these brothers achieved then, is almost kind of hard to equate in terms of contemporary musical acts. Thanks for this video.

Dani, really enjoyed that reaction. It was touching how moved you were by them. I was also. I grew up with the Bee Gees but I think in recent years I’ve really begun to appreciate just how talented they were. I always liked their songs so it’s not that, it’s recognizing how unique and talented and tasteful they were. By the way, in regards to your livestream Sunday is August 2, not August 1. Just wanted to let you know. I assume your livestream is on Sunday, not Saturday, correct?

I grew up with the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍 If there is music in Heaven, I imagine it would sound like they do!
