The Bee Gees received a lot of backlash for having big success during the disco era, but they are much more than just the disco era, they are one of the top selling groups of all time, multitalented and they had great success writing songs for themselves as well as many other artists. They are definitely legends.
@georgehampton254 жыл бұрын
In my opinion they were the only disco worth listening to.
@Rowgue514 жыл бұрын
They did make a lot of great music, but they could never escape being associated with the disco era which most people look at as a laughing stock. When they recorded stayin alive for the soundtrack of saturday night fever they became the face of disco. From that moment on they defined disco and disco defined them in the eyes of most people.
@mikeyaureliush90174 жыл бұрын
@@Rowgue51 Where do you get the idea that disco was a laughing stock? Basically it was about having FUN (which was the original idea behind popular music) dancing to music. A carte blanche condemnation of disco? I would just like you to explain why. Examples of disco songs: Billie Jean, Don't Leave Me This Way, We Are Family, I Will Survive, Love to Love You Baby, I Feel Love. Do you class those tracks as "laughing stocks"? If so, why?
@Rowgue514 жыл бұрын
@@mikeyaureliush9017 I'm not saying it's my opinion, but it IS the prevailing opinion. The disco scene is consistently the butt of jokes, even from some of the people involved in making it what it was. And I wouldn't class anything you listed there as laughing stocks. But I would also only classify one of them as a disco song. Everything produced during the disco era isn't automatically a disco song.
@mikeyaureliush90174 жыл бұрын
@@Rowgue51 I selected those songs from the Billboard magazine list of 35 best disco songs of all time, you can look it up. Anyway, I consider those who criticise disco as just oafs. If some1 just says they do not like disco, that's fine, we all have different tastes, but the snarky remarks about it are just stupid. I think there is a lot of negagivity amoung some paid music media hacks. Just ignore them.

Oh gosh, Dani.... If you start listening to the Bee Gees, you are going to be gone for awhile. lol Every song of theirs is fabulous. When I was a young teen I had their yellow album, The Best of the Bee Gees. Every song on that album is beyond belief. I've watched so many Bee Gees interviews, concerts and performances and I always felt that Barry was the beautiful one as far as looks go (I noticed your smile when you first saw him lol); Robin was my favorite. I always felt he was the heart of the Bee Gees. When the video started he was standing with his hands on his hips like what they were going to do was just a normal thing and when they finished his hands were back on his hips as he sang. He just seemed so down to earth; Maurice, to me was the attention getter. In videos you'll see him jumping around from time to time, waving his arms and making faces throughout their performances. I still find it hard to believe that he and Robin were twins. Thanks for your reaction, Dani. I look forward to more of your reactions of the Bee Gee brothers. Take care and be well. Peace.
