Lifting your windshield wipers actually stretches out the springs that are meant to pull the wipers down onto the windshield. If you do that too often then with time they won’t clean the glass as good

Good advice. I have also hear if a crow or other bird sits on the wiper blade, and the blade slams down, it could crack your frozen windshield. Cheers. 🙂⛄️

Thanks for the refresher on the wipers. I learned that trick when I was a student at SUNY Oswego. We had a number of Canadian students especially on the hockey team.

Hey Josh, about your wipers. As a fellow Canadian you shouldn't leave them up in the air like that. The main reason is there are springs in the arms that keep the wiper blade pressured against the windshield and when you put them up the springs are stretched out, over time they could lose strength and the wipers can lift off the windshield at speed against the wind. Also when it's "canadian" cold these new flex wipers could lose the windshield shape and they won't wipe properly cause the rubber gets too cold. Worst case scenario they also could come smashing down from a wind gust and slam on the windshield potencially cracking the glass. Cheers bud!

We had our little “blizzard” on the 2nd here in Tennessee. Got 7inches of snow which is a decent amount for here. Was 80 degrees with tornados the day before that so Tennessee weather is just absolutely unpredictable.

I used to do that with my wipers till my mechanic said that it stretches your wiper springs. Causing your wipers to not pull towards the glass and not cleaning as good.
