That's great news!! We wish you all the best for orientation and beyond! Hope you have a great experience with Crete!! We hope we get to meet you some day!! Kevin was going between 30 and 45 most of that day.
@TheJoyofTrucking2 жыл бұрын
No. Do not use jake brake coming down hills in ice and snow. Stab brake only. Even on wet pavement from rain you need to gauge the situation, as you could have your trailer try and pass you and end up jackknifing.

I really enjoyed watching your video. My husband and I drove from Maine where we live to Pa all the time. We were out M-F. Usually home weekends. He passed last Jan 16th so watching your video was bittersweet. I've been on the same roads and sat in your seat doing the same thing as you. I took so many photos and only started trying my hand at videos. We were on the road for 3 years together and 2 apart. We drove from Maine to South Carolina and as far Wrst as Ohio and Michigan. It was so much fun being with him in the truck. I loved it dearly.

Hi Tanja! Hubby and I are on our way from Missouri to Tampa FL. We continue to enjoy your channel and also wanted to mention how interesting it is seeing all the stuff being hauled on open trailers ( is that the correct term?) huge logs of tree trunks, giant mechanical parts like 7-ft diameter tubes - maybe fan cages; wind turbine propellers, modular home pieces, and things we can only guess what they’re for. Enjoying iceless roads today, unlike you two. 😮. Safe travels!

Flat bed trailers is the proper term. Truckers also refer to them as Skate Boards.

@@TheJoyofTrucking I may still be one of the few left that still holds a little sense of magic for this particular career. There are too many grouchy and jaded drivers out there but even as things become second nature and even old hat I think I’ll still have that romance for it that many drivers either lost or honestly probably never had.

Very familiar with I68. Have driven it in all types of weather in a four wheeler and in a Yukon pulling a 28’ trailer. Was on it in Jan ‘22 pulling my trailer when 6-8” snow fell. Personally, I was pulling a 42K load on I76 (PA turnpike) the day you were on I68. The wind at the Summerset service plaza was brutal. Kevin, Thanks for sharing your experience driving. Tonya, thanks for capturing the video.

They were so incorrect on the temps from that storm here in Orlando. The two coldest days it was supposed to be 20⁰ at 6am. I took my pooch out for her morning walk at 6am both days wearing only pajama shorts and slip on shoes, no shirt. There was dew on my windows and the grass but none of it was ice. I'm a born and raised Floridian, so cold weather isn't my cup of tea. Honestly i think it was colder back in 86 when the Challenger shuttle exploded, it atleast felt colder.

You have 44,000 on I68 in icy conditions? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. That roller coaster was one of the scariest I've ever driven on. 15-25 mph going up, jaking and doing the recommended speed limit on the way down. Brakes caught on fire once because I lost the jake. .
