Hey guys, we've had the RAS kit for over 6 months. It's great! However, we also just got a new wt. distribution hitch. Link here ➡️ amzn.to/3sQZkOT ⬅️If we had to choose one item to install we would pick the wt. distribution hitch because it helps more with sway control. Having both is very nice but if you're looking to choose one item start with the nice hitch. RAS link - amzn.to/3munwVe 😀👍

Turn your trailer hitch the opposite way and flip the ball rightsize up that will drop it about 2-3in.

I figured this out about a week after making this video.. 🤦♂️ *sigh...
@davidsturdivant23603 жыл бұрын
You should be using a weight distribution hitch to pull the RV. The WDH will help distribute weight to the front end of your truck. Much safer way to tow an RV as well.

You’re right.. we’ve since upgraded to a WDH👍

Thanks for a great video!!! Was thinking getting a RAS. I have a wdh. Did u make some adjustment with your settings? Now u have a wdh.
@Roamaroo Жыл бұрын
I did not make any adjustments after getting a WDH. What setup do you have? The RAS was great, but if you set up your WDH right I don't think many people need the RAS. I LOVE this wdh ➡amzn.to/3ManAai You just need to follow the set up instructions so that it actually distributes the weight properly.
@adamhand8901 Жыл бұрын
I’m getting my RAS installed today to pair with my WDH. I have the 4 way equalizer hitch and it does great with sway and leveling but I still have a lot of bounce. So I’d say they should work together really well.

They did.. However, we just installed a nice weight distribution hitch. I would recommend installing that for sway control. Here's a link amzn.to/3sQZkOT If I had to choose one thing to instal, I would go with the wt. distribution hitch.

What’s your f150s tow capacity? My wife and I will be getting our 22f Bambi in Nov. gonna trade in our 4 runner and get a truck. Debating between Ford and Tundra. Leaning towards Ford because towing is better provided you get the right specs.
@Roamaroo3 жыл бұрын
Our first F150 was the 3.5v6 (ecoboost) Towing Capacity (TC) of 10,700 lbs and our newest is the 5.0 v8 TC 9100. You probably already know this but the F150 offers several engine configurations.. this table here ford.to/3iALGw6 will show you the towing capacity for the 2018 model. Google "2018 f150 towing chart" .. If you're only towing the 22f Bambi, I'd probably recommend the 2.7L Ecoboost v6. The standard model can tow 7,600 lbs. The ecoboost aka turbo, is really nice for towing. The V8 is powerful enough but the turbo keeps the RPM's more constant when going up and down hills. It's a more enjoyable towing experience. I also recommend this hitch amzn.to/3zqalKR I haven't made a video on it but it's a LIFE SAVER. It is a MUST if you have a bambi.
@AnandSwamy073 жыл бұрын
@@Roamaroo Yeah, so many features. Def looking at an XLT with payload and towing package, and also high Axel ratio. Provided you have those, the towing is 14,500. I want to get a V8 as well. More so because it is Ford's tried and true engine. Why did you opt for V8 after
@Roamaroo3 жыл бұрын
@@AnandSwamy07 I wanted 3.5 V6 but when we were looking I couldn't find any. I could only find the 2.7 or the v8
@KiereElShafie3 жыл бұрын
That’s really interesting since the Bambi is the lightweight Airstream. What is your GVWR and curb weight? And then what is the actual weight of the truck without the trailer but with all your gear in it? I also have a half ton truck and am getting an Airstream in December so I’m very curious.
@Roamaroo3 жыл бұрын
@@KiereElShafie The Bambi GVWR is 5k lbs. I had the truck weighed when I got it registered (with gear) and I’m sorry to say I don’t remember exactly. Maybe 5700 lbs? Our f150 filled up with gear does a great job towing. If you want better specs look up “2018 f150 towing chart” or different year. Ford puts out a pdf with all the specs for all of their models.

Did this make change the ride quality without towing? Stiffer ride? I have a duramax 2500 and just picked up a 2021 F-150 for the soft side I’m not looking to stiffen the ride quality
@Roamaroo3 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice a stiffer ride when not towing.. Since making this video we've switched trucks and purchased this hitch on our new truck. amzn.to/3hijbEj If you're only towing I'd recommend the hitch over the RAS suspension kit. However, if you're carrying heavy payload then the RAS kit is great.

@@nobadhabits It's hard to say. I think it helped some but I ended up trading the truck for an F250. It was way more expensive than suspension work but towing is much better now. My towing MPG is actually better "I got the 6.2 gas engine" my daily drive MPG is worse. I went from 15.5 around town to 11 :( my new to me is a 4x4 also and icemageddon we had here in North Texas was anon issue for me!
