Yes, we all have accents. I am from NYC and hear everything the world can throw at me. I've been told I have a very thick Brooklyn accent and it is often pointed out as soon as I get off a plane. But, people understand me just fine. Other accents, though, overwhelm, even the best efforts of enunciation or listening skills. There is nothing wrong with sub titles where they may be suitable. This is a tailor made case.
@Silverado1st5 жыл бұрын
Hardest accent I've ever cringed to understand was a full blooded fully cocked Irishman after having a few myself and chatting with a ciggy outside the pub, and I've chatted with many from all over the world in the military. Love to listen to someone with an accent. As many say, its sad that this happens all over the world and to an extreme. Nice to know they had each other and a community at that time. Seems like they had good heads on there shoulders and kept there wits about them. I've helped a few in the past, as much as I could, to find a path, a stable life and a few laughs and memories along the way. Like to think I did some good in this lifetime. Had my hand bitten a few times as well but hey, gotta take the good and the bad. Not only shared some good life wisdom, was also taught a few new ones myself. Hope someday they'll be a global peace that makes its way to all who need it. God rest and bless the poor souls who found it the hard way.

These boys were at so much personal risk to their safety, their health - both mental & physical. In 1995 they were at high risk of contracting HIV and surviving the AIDS pandemic of the 1990's until the arrival of the first antivirals in 1997 was in no way guaranteed. Lot's of us gay folk did not make it, did not survive. If these boys did survive, I hope they've managed against the odds, to get their lives together and found the safety, security, happiness though most of all, the love and care that simply should have been their birth right in the first place.

Moving, eye-opening and deeply gripping documentary on the world of rent boys. Was sad to hear what these youths went through and I hope their lives have taken better turns. While LGBT rights have been recognized and are protected now more than ever, it is still despicable most youths worldwide who are either closeted or have come out, have to offer their bodies just to survive and face discrimination after being thrown out. No one should be persecuted and shunned for their sexuality and the numbers of LGBT homeless youths worldwide on the streets has to diminish.

I just came across this video through a very good close friend of mine. This is really sad to learn about the boys in the video, I have had a bad life myself for several years different reasons; lost one family member to cancer and I am lucky to be alive today if it wasn’t for my dad who has sadly died from health issues that were not able to get treated as too dangerous and very complex. These film makers treat us all like a heard of cattle in doing so they don’t care about us and our feelings just viewing figure ratings. It would be nice if they could give them all of the moral support they needed. I have been in the past few years with a volatile partner who had controlled me and due to their actions I went missing in Edinburgh for 24 hours once. At the time I was not able to speak out about how I was feeling or going through. I do hope that they are okay after the film makers manipulated these really cool guys and managed to move on from this horrible ordeal

Agree, Cammy would not be looking for a "mom" to replace his biological mum anyway I doubt. It seems to have impacted him when she passed away when he was only 12. Though as its been pointed out this was recorded way back in the 90s... I'm sure they both got wiser to the world and probably cringe watching back over this. They reason why some aren't understanding them completely is they are speaking a mix of English and Scots respectively. Some of the American viewers are probably not even aware Scots is a sister tongue to English and although similar it differs just like Norwegian and Danish. Here in Northern Ireland we speak this mix too though with a different accent and we need to think carefully not to mix Scots vocab into English when speaking to outsiders as it massively confuses them. Shame the lads had to resort to this but then its a shame married men etc feel the need to slip out for a bit of man on man action while the wife is in the bath or so... Dirty oule gits! :-}

Did I dream it or was there a documentary made years ago that’s now been banned about rent boys moving down to London ? Wonderland? Trocadero centre? Apparently whilst filming in one of the hostels a boy was murdered so the film crew were effectively suspects????
@vincentmacgillivray85942 жыл бұрын
I think the documentary you recall is one that was made in 1975 called 'Johnny Go Home'. It was about young lads who left home to seek a new life in the bright lights of London and who became prey for others. The film crew unwittingly captured some footage which was used forensically in the detection of the hostel murder. I don't think the film crew were suspects but I do think they were "helping police with their inquiries." I'm not sure it was ever banned as I don't recall it ever being repeated but lots of stuff were 'one off specials' back in the day. There may have been another about the 'Johnnies Who Won't Go Home' but that could easily have been a tag line used in the documentary. I remember watching it as a 14 year old and being quite shocked. In my youthful naivety I couldn't understand why young guys not much older than me were not back home after the first night away.

I had no problem understanding, even after being out of the country since 1995 and only regularly popping back. I've only ever been to Glasgow once btw. Sad that the young lads had to work in this way. The nature of the 'job' is slightly different and a lot of young lads nowadays look online for extra cash in this way, and some do 'quite well' out of paid sex with older men with money looking for a good time with a young boy. I have no idea whether this model of male prostitution is still abundant in the western world. Perhaps some one could shed some light.

@@iden010 If you really are David, I'm looking to track someone down who was working St Vincent Street back in around 1994-95. I'm 48 now. Was 21-22 at the time. I wasn't a punter, I'm just someone who lost touch with someone else when we were both very young and I'd just like to know that they were safe and well.

Very tragic indication of how a homophobic society pushes kids like this towards the shadows. In those days, things like section 28 banned schools from helping gay kids, and even then, so many people and teachers were deeply homophobic themselves. The tragedy is that kids like that would have had very few outlets to meet other gay people other than in the shadows like that. I'm sure this image has been replicated so many times with kids, both then and now. As long as homophobia and dysfunctional families exist, there'll always be kids pushed in that direction.

It's heartbreaking to see these two lovely boys in such a stinking situation. They have the looks and talent. Kammi's father and rotten stepmother have a lot to answer for. They ruined an innocent, sweet, sensitive soul and threw him out to beasts. Wish i had the money to get them away from that.
