The singer was also the bass player in the band. James Dewar, that sadly to say passed at an early age from natural causes. Seems sort of unusual to have the bass as the singer too. But he was in good company; Geddy Lee, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and so forth. Another slower syrupy one off of “Twice removed from Yesterday” is called “Daydream”. Good stuff. Always drove me nuts when people compared him to Hendrix. A little similarity in the tone, but he has a completely unique guitar voice. It's instantly recognizable, which, in the huge universe of guitar players, is pretty hard to do. Check out his more recent live performances of Bridge of Sighs. He looks like the mummy of Tutankhamun with a Strat around his neck, and his guitar maturity and virtuosity has grown along with all those years. Best guitar face ever.

Little Bit Of Sympathy, Caledonia, The Fool And Me, Lady Love, Alethea, Daydream, Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs. A lot of Robin Trower to dig in to and most deep cuts. You've got his biggest two out of the way.

Even better is “Little Bit of Sympathy,” the closing track of the same album. For crazy pyrotechnics, “Shame the Devil,” from “For Earth Below.” It made my head explode, the first time I heard it.

So at a certain point Ian Stewart, the founder and architect of the Rolling Stones, was told by Stones' management he couldnt be in the band. He could play on albums and in shows, but he could not be in any pictures or be listed anywhere as a member of the group. He did nt project the right image. Robin Trower felt the label he was signed to, Chrysalis, was trying to do similar things to him, make him a 'guitar god' and a 'rock star' - he was noy interested. The biggest band on the label, Jethro Tull, was wild and flamboyant on stage and they wanted more of this kind of thing from Trower. Also they didn't want the lead singer to double as the bass player, they wanted a stand alone singer like Jagger, Mercury, Daltrey or Plant ( Trower and James Dewar eventually caved on this ) So being ' Too Rolling Stoned' means caving to the image makers rather than just playing music.

I thought this was going to be S-tier based on their initial comments. If this doesn't get it, I don't think anything in discography will. Maybe Bridge of Sighs, but this is the peak in terms of the all around singing and guitar imo.

You gotta love all the spontaneous sub-verbals coming from the creatures who had somehow squeezed through the cracks in the floors and walls of the studio. The clapping also sounded unrehearsed and genuine. Refreshing! Somebody shredding to that extent will attract souls like cheap metal to their magnet.

He used to play at the Roseland Theater on Burnside Avenue, downtown Portland every year too, I saw him there 3 times. This song totally rocks and he used to open up his shows with this one! I can remember cruising around in a chevy conversion van that had headphones at every seat . Would drive around all night long stoned out our minds listening to this 8 track tape or on the radio Robin Trower was the king back then back in the late 70s I'll be 67 this year and man I wish I could go back there again. Great times great bands and the best years of our life's. To the many friends I've lost throughout the years I sure do miss you guys till we meet again 💔
