I got my first BMW when I was 21, K100LT 16V, I "upgraded" from a Yamaha YZF750R as I do not have a car license so needed something comfortable rather than quick. I loved that bike but it ended up getting stolen. When I was 24 I ended up with a R80RT which was nice but not quite for me. When I was 25 I got another K100, a naked one this time which I really liked but it wasn't practical, after an hour on the motorway I felt like I'd been wrestling with the wind, the thought of long journeys was enough to make me not want to ride. Now at 28 I'm looking for another BMW, quite like the idea of a K75 as I like the 3 cylinder sound. Inbetween the BMW's I've had allsorts, Bandit 600, some Honda piece of rubbish (CB400), whole bunch of 250cc machines 2 of which were MZ's, a Kawazaki KZ500 and a few other bikes. Recently just sold my MZ ETZ 250 + homemade sidecar to fund a bigger bike for a bigger sidecar (got a family now) as it was great around town but maxed out at 50mph with all of us and didn't like hills. I decided I need either a Yamaha XJ900 or another K bike, even though the BMW is a hard machine to mount a sidecar to, I'm still drawn to them, I don't know why, guess I've been bitten by the K bike bug! I don't think you can ever be too young to pilot a flying brick! :-)

You are right, but sometimes I miss the excitement of a sportbike ;-)

If you want more performance, but keep the comfort that you have with your current bike, then the BMW R1200RT may be something for you. Although it officially is a tourer, it looks more sportive than the older BMW touring bikes. If you want great performance with comfort, then then you'll have to look at the BMW K1600GT. I wouldn't recommend just a sports bike. Perhaps a naked 'urban' bike like the BMW K1300R. I've got the '06 RT model which I use to commute between Limbourg (BE) and Brussels.

I'm 34 and have an FZ6 (XJ6) but am definitely planning on upgrading eventually to a bigger "comfy" bike, so I see why you ride this one. I've got my eye on the Ninja 1000, not as plush as a BMW but it's a start. Cheers.

Yes, that sounds great, but they are a bit more expensive than a K75, haha! But who knows, maybe I'll upgrade to a R1200RT one day :-)

In the UK, I've read that statistically speaking 'bikers' generally are ageing, with little 'new blood' coming into biking. Which is very sad! So many young people will never know what they're missing! So, if the statistics are right, we're all going to be 'Beamer people' before too long......

As for being too old, for a K beamer ... I don't think this is a worthwhile perspective - I know some people have toured on late-model 1000cc sports bikes... but they're sooooo uncomfortable, and their tank range isn't practical, especially if you're heavy with the throttle! And where do you put all your holiday/camping stuff? .... Still, I think there's something to be said for having 2 (or more) bikes - something genuinely 'useful' and 'comfy' like a Beamer, and something 'silly', for shorter distances/Sunny Sundays.... But, if I could only have one bike, it's have to be something comfortable - sports-tourer, or tourer... 2 of my favourite bikes from my own 'back catalogue', were a good mix of the 2 requirements - K1200S (too much electronics), and a ZZR1100d - which was totally bullet-proof

Hi, I ride an old airhead R100R from 1993. It's newer than some K-bikes but it's much older technology. It actually has some K parts, like the forks and exhaust. I don't know if it's an "old man's bike" or just not the latest and fastest. I don't know if I'm an old man. It's all relative I think. If you want more excitement, remove the fairing and twist the throttle. If that ride suits you then consider another bike. You might find that a smaller fairing or no fairing is all you were really missing. The power should be there as long as you are not simply wanting to be the fastest. A K75 should go over 160 KPH (so will my bike). How often do you need to do that? I don't need the fastest bike. I want to be the most skillful rider. If you're being safe and having fun, you're doing it right.

Bulllllshittttttt, to young for your bike??????? Come on, you drive what you like. The BMW k75 is fast enough i think. Although i like your K75. A real fast bike is just shit at slower speeds, and in Holland we drive according the speed limits (or a tiny above it).
