Hi mate, great video, I`m coaching too, and I am pretty sure the track marshall at 16:40 wanted you to follow him around to show you the race line and get you up to pace ( he definetly recogniced your talent mate). He signaled it by tapping on his rear, thats pretty much the official sign for "follow me" Have a good one and keep doing trackdays, you are clearly quite talented. Cheers

He was trying to show you around for sure. Great video. Have fun and work on the basics. Talk to the coaches, depending on who is running it they will give you lots of free advice and will follow and lead you on track to give you custom pointers.

Certainly was telling you to follow. They were watching you and figured you would be a good candidate to show the line to.

Just so that everyone is aware Frisson is in the Happy Laps group at Queensland Raceway, this is a single 15-20min session at the track during lunch where anyone with a streetbike can see what a trackday is like with a speed limit for insurance reasons. They then have the following standard all day groups at the track with the marshals assessing each rider to ensure they are in the correct group for their pace/skill level: Red Group (Novice) with more stringent gear requirements, no speed limit and a no undertaking rule for corners. This group also includes some group based/occasional single rider coaching. Blue Group (Slow Intermediate) which is a step up in pace from the red but still has the no undertaking rule for corners. Green Group (Fast Intermediate) is another step-up in pace and no longer has an undertaking rule but they only want safe passing. Yellow Group (Fast) is for experienced trackday riders/racers with no restrictions aside for no dangerous overtakes.

You were in the beginners category, that's why you had a speed limit. So you don't have fast people passing slow people with a huge speed difference (or catching them mid corner and having to go off line). It's also because people might not know the track layout or the best line to take a corner. Plus people won't always know how to judge their braking distances and that is another place where you can get crashes if newbies start braking too early and the fast guys behind aren't expecting it. The point of the speed limit isn't just so you don't hurt yourself, it's so you don't hurt other people. At about the 10 minute mark of the video you comment on the guy in front going wide at turn 3 (end of the back straight). While he does go too wide, going a bit wide is actually the racing line. It's kind of like 2 corners because it opens up a bit mid corner then tightens again. Turn 6 (start of the main straight) is similar. So i think that when you do a proper track day you'll find you have to change your lines when you start going at speed. Same with going into turn 4, as it looked like you were turning in too early. You were getting better by the end though
@frissonyt2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Thanks for comment :))
@selfmedikasie2 жыл бұрын
@@frissonyt Just an FYI but the racing line for that double apex corner (turn 3) isn't to go wide at all you should be hitting the first apex moving closer to mid track and then hitting the second apex on the exit. I'd suggest going into the red group the next time you're out on track as they have some coaching in between sessions that will help quite a bit as a novice.

@frissonyt2 жыл бұрын
For real, worst part about it. That’s why you come to the track because the streets have speed limits, the track shouldn’t
@WholesaleTurbos7 ай бұрын
guess what, people dont know their limits which is why you generally get a most crashes in the slower groups. We had to change our wording and strike some fear at the briefing, nothing major just stuff like ride within your means, there is no prize money, no trophies, repair bills from crashing are expensive not to mention medical and time off work, have fun but dont go full retard. We have had up to 25 crashes per day, some people crashed twice. Once we changed wording it basically halved or better over night. We explored the speed limit for the new group, it wasnt for us, we briefed our corner workers to report dangerous riding, guys too fast/slow, we would position rolling marshals strategically if there were crashes or unsafe riding. We were a victim of our own success so much so, management wanted to cut paid positions, NBD i was already spending too much time there, pay peanuts you get monkeys, they ended up loosing the contract lol. All this money spent sending someone up from head office, to try and reduce costs to maximize profit only to loose the entire revenue stream was a poor business decision
