Good video. My adult daughter (age 34) has so many muscular/skeletal problems and decided to see a physical therapist (after doing chiropractors for years). He told her that walking was the way to go and to start out with short brisk walks and build up to longer ones, and showed her the proper way to walk along with stretches to help. She powered through it for the first 3 months (she could only do a walk around the block at first) and discovered that she did feel better (she sits at a desk for 8 hours a day). She joined a gym so that she could use the treadmills on bad weather days. Now after a year, she uses walking poles and walks every day. On weekends she drags her husband along and hikes on nature/scenic trails so she can do her photography too. I might add that she bought great ($$$) walking shoes as well. Even when she comes up to visit mom and me, she insists that she be able to walk our dog so she does not miss her daily walks. She looks and feels soooo much better. Thanks for the video!

Most of my patients are elderly so I remind them that one secret to aging well is to avoid doing what most people stop doing as the age: they stop moving. So by simply maintaining mobility with walking, they will age more gracefully just like a fine glass of wine 🍷 😊

@@mhd5826 The muscles will absolutely start to deteriorate if they are not used. I'm sure my physical therapist experts would agree that it only takes a short time for this to happen. Many of my hospitalized patients have to have rehab after a 1-2 week hospital stay due to lack of mobility.

Walking cured my back pain the last time my back went out. Got x-rays and it shows degenerative disc on my lower disc. Sitting for long times makes it stiff and hurts to bend. I'm only 40 and should probably get an MRI to know if something else is going on. I walk 4-6 miles a day now. I was so stiff and couldn't bend down to tie my shoes. The pain was intense. Walking is my favorite past time now!

I can walk/hike longer & with less stiffness when I go on trails. the uneven ground flexes my ankles, hips, back, & works your core the best in my opinion. I fell much better than walking on a flat side walk.

BobandBrad…I’m a72 year old female. I had a TRKR a year ago. Now for the past 3 months I’ve been dealing with severe Achilles tendinitis in my left foot and now my right foot is starting to hurt the same way….but not as severe…but I’m thinking with the pain in my arch on my right foot might be plantar fasciitis. I’m still in PT for my foot. Since I have stared the PT on my right foot 4 weeks ago…I am finding out just how week my right leg with the knee replacement is still very week. Can I improve this too after I get my feet straightened up? Also, I can’t stand a shoe to touch the back of my left foot. I’m wearing flip flops and I’m sure these are not good for walking…Do you think I will get the feet and knee stronger ? I love you guys and value your advice. Thank you.

Bob, we are praying for you. I shared your story w my 88 year old independent living parents and my mom asked if you have celiac disease as it's related to your diagnosis. We all have a gf lifestyle as my husband and daughter have celiac. If you haven't, please check this out. Only problem is you have to gluten load for 3 days before you do Prometheus panel blood test, but there are a few other more specific and sensitive antibody tests showing gluten inflammation. There is also genetic testing all children of celiacs should have as celiac disease is not necessarily activated at birth. Hope this is helpful.

Walking causes pain to radiate through right hip. The only time I feel good is when I'm on the elliptical machine. No pain doing that even though I HAVE NO RANGE OF MOTION FORWARD DUE TO FEAR OF RE-INJURING BACK. Don't know what to do know. Lost career and quality of life is diminished. Chiropractor spine adjustments only help temporarily.

No angry responses to one another too. Don’t want message wars. Just wanted ideas. Good stretching y’all!

I have had chronic back pain for years! Three back surgeries. One of which was a bi level fusion of l 4, l 5, S 1. The sciatic pain is the worst! Walking does not help and neither does PT. Sorry

Bob is going through a medical issue called ataxia which he has been very open about. Look back at some of the videos from a few months ago. I respect 'the tall guy' so much for carrying on and giving us the honest story, along with the invaluable advice about ending back pain.
