I like the new album, it's not their best though it's growing on me, overall it sounds more regressive than progressive but it stays within their sound structure, and they are still pushing for the edges and staying away from the mainstream so more credit to them.. 91 Metom's for "7empest" its really not the best track on the album, "invincible" and "culling voices" take that accolade for my preference..

The album is good... But also a tad underwhelming. The replay value just isn't there like the old albums and many bands have further evolved the progressive sound. I get huge jam session vibes with no strong direction (doesn't come full circle) So yeah... Enjoyable. But disappointing in the fact I can't find anything that really brings me back... Even after multiple listens.

what i like about maynard's lyrics is that they are both personal and general. he connects to them emotionally through whatever meaning they have for him, but writes in such a generic, often archetypal way that you can fill them with your own interpretation of the respective archetype. you can fill in your own story, your perceptions on what's happening in the world and understand it on a phenomenal level - for you it's your current president, for somebody else it may be their current president, or boss, teacher, spouse, whatever situation carries the same characteristics as the songs theme. at the same time his lyrics have psychological, philosophical and/or spiritual/mystical dimensions and you can use them as tools to better understand the fabric of our human nature.

Back in '93, when i was 17, I bought Undertow, and was an instant Tool fan. Since then, Tool has served as the soundtrack of my life, playing throughout many of my experiences. After waiting so long for fresh tunes, the nostalgia was off the charts!! On my first listen I had uncontrollable fits of exhilarating crying. On my second listen, i had an LSD flashback, and tripped for hours. For my third listen, I plan on wearing a space helmet!! :-D

@Gromph Baenre From ages 18 through 34, i tripped on acid around 100 times. I also tripped many many times in VERY EXTREME WAYS while EXCLUSIVELY listening to Tool. I am 44 now, and never had a flashback in my entire life until listening to the latest Tool album. I hadn't really listened to much Tool since i stopped tripping (10 years ago), so the association of their music with tripping must have been strong. It was around 11pm, I was very tired, and about to go to sleep when i realized all the new Tool songs were online, so i started listening to them one by one, playing each one twice, reading the lyrics as i went along, and also reading the comments from others on each video after each song. During the second track (specifically Pneuma at the middle part where the electric sound is winding all around from speaker to speaker) I began to get very excited, uncontrollably crying, and the sounds were bringing me back decades in my mind, filling it with memories rushing in from my many psychedelic experiences. Then, during the crescendo of Pneuma, wide eyed, and full of wonder, i realized that I was literally tripping balls. From there, each song added to my momentum, re-living my youth, I related very heavily to all the lyrics in each one. Even after the listening experience was over, i was up until 6am, and still in a tripped out state of mind. I had perma-grin, grinding teeth, neck hair standing up, dilated pupils, anxiety, the whole bit!! hahaha!! What a great night!! Just talking about it gets me amped up!! It definitely had a lot to do with taking such a long break, and the the nostalgia was off the charts, it rocketed me into that old familiar vessel!! :-D

@__ZANE__ 4 жыл бұрын
@Gromph Baenre I quit cigs in 2002, alcohol in 2012, and cannabis in April 2019. I did however have my usual cup of green tea earlier that evening. It was mostly just a head trip. I wasn't seeing trails or anything, but colors were more vibrant, and I had that "taste" in the back of my throat I used to get when tripping. I would compare it to taking a half hit of some low grade paper acid. Also, things were very emotional almost like taking a bit of molly. It was very speedy with racing thoughts, and lockjaw too.

Great song. Reminds me more of a jam session. Pneuma on the otherhand is so epic it is hard to describe. Pneuma to me seems like a carefully crafted epic event that they obviously spent a lot of time putting together. This song feels a lot more like a jam session. So while I like it a lot as it is tool. It is a pale shadow to Pneuma in my current opinion. EDIT: Well not so pale. I see them being able to perform this song live. Pneuma has so may layers I suspect they could not perform all of the parts live and will require some prerecorded parts to go along with the parts they do play. Just way too many layers. This song I can see them actually performing all of it.

I have seen in these comments and other video reaction comments where fans are wondering if this is the last real TOOL music we will ever hear....personally i don't see this is the end. One question i have thought of over the delivery of Fear Inoculum is..."would TOOL consider making music without a vocalist or possibly a change in vocalist?" This came to mind as i heard the shots fired by MJK at the other members for the delays in delivering the new album. If another vocalist...who would be a good fit?

Intro song is Roundabout by Yes. They mean during the skateboarding thing. Intro of vid, not intro of the tool song.

Love it 🤘 Fair play. Nice to see a father introduce his kids to some real music and also spend valuable time with his family. Also, if you loved this song and the fact that it's so long too, I think you guys would love Mastodon's The Tsar of the Oblivion album, or the Last Baron off the same album. Two lengthy tunes with plenty of incredible time signatures and another fantastic progressive band too. Also, Brent Hinds and Danny Carey are good friends are in a Superhroup together

@@ChemicalReactions It's the title track of their upcoming album with the same name, out on Oct. 25 ... they are socially and environmentally conscious and their music isn't only heavy but also atmospheric, melodic and simply great overall. BTW - I dig your channel & keep it coming! Greetz

The 7empest is something that will always exist. The chaos of the universe will never go away. There is a portion of our lives that we will never have control over. "Without order nothing exists, without chaos nothing evolves." The instrumentation of the songs on this album are amazing, but, while Maynard is a bit more sparse, his lyrics and the meaning behind the songs shouldn't be lost.

I think that your daughter's analysis of Fear Inoculum was spot on. I really don't think it's the case that she didn't enjoy it as much because she isn't used to progressive rock, she did rate Lateralus a 9.7 after all. As somebody who's listened to a lot of Tool over and over, this new album disappointed me
