@@dag681 If you only heard the original stuff, which is still good, don't get me wrong, and made a judgement, like maybe you like Nirvana more or something, I get it that it might be "meh". I was one of those who's first Tool album was Aenema, which was AWESOME, and, in comparison, the old stuff what MEH. BUT, it grew on me and I noticed some parts of it, and a flavor it had, kind of in the background, that made me like it more. . Old Tool had a spirit barely peeking through that suggested their newer, what I consider to be enlightened stuff. But only a selective ear would notice. Just my opinion. If you were looking for something spiritual and slightly up that alley, some of it may have been appealing. But, in my opinion, the transcendental shit is what blessed the world. The complexity and depth, perfection of harmony is unlike any other. Talk about a band that has never let me down but just keeps redefining what greatness is. These are the times when we start to realize we are One. The more I listen to Pneuma, the more I am sure these guys are "just" messengers. Music is the start of all creation and allows us to ascend. Tool has managed to create something beyond themselves and the listeners, a glimpse of what lives beyond our pinneal gland. The metamind, the fabric of existence. They all seem so down to earth until they start playing. Then, they ascend for some time and come back down.

I grew up on tool. Spent most of my life singing in many different metal/hardcore bands so I've been involved or immersed in music my entire life. Fathers a drummer thats played since he was 9 yrs old and can also sing play guitar but that said I've never even came close to being involved with anyone on the level musically as Tool not even close. Their ear for music is legendary and their shit is just levels above anything out there. There isn't a better drummer out there or bassist and I won't even get started on Maynard and how there's just no other voice like his. I've very recently started on my spiritual journey in life at 41. Spent most my years angry at everything. Lost everything I had in life. Found myself utterly alone even when ppl were right beside me the loneliness was crippling. TOOL and alot of other bands helped pull me through. I walked and exercised all day every day cuz it was rhe only way I could calm my mind. I was way to far gone to try and do it through meditation but slowly I found myself in the best shape of my life and having things happen to me spiritually that I couldn't explain but I just knew that being outdoors walking running and just connecting with nature was what was giving some feelings of peace. Eventually I ended up becoming the best physical version of myself since I was in my teens and I found myself loving myself again. After about 6 months my wife and I found our way back to each other. That was about 4 years ago. I fell and broke my back 2 days after we got back together and again Tool was a huge help in bringing me back from that then this covid hit and I've sat unable to work and with that and the back situation I found myself out of shape and depressed. That takes me to today where I've since realized I needed to find my way back to how I felt when I lost it all some how without having to have anything crippling and negative to push me hard enough to find it so I started to seek the spiritual side of the whole ordeal and have since got back into exercising and added meditation and a huge hunger for knowledge about spirituality. I've also been diving into lucid dreaming and learning how to hopefully one day astral project. I use to think all this was silly but as I said I had things happen when my life was turned upside down and inwas forced to change or stay broken forever that made me realize I had alot to learn so here I am and this Tool song has once again just gave me inspiration to work even harder towards bettering myself. Very sorry for the super long post but maybe my journey will help someone else. May everyone find peace!

from darkness light emerges. from rage our healthiest indignations cause us to stand and fight for our souls and the souls of others. fighting with light is simply allowing the warmth of unity to wash over us without resisting the acceptance and relinquishment of our guilt and judgements. to do this work we have a tool, the tool wielded by the hand, the hand moved by the mind, the mind moved by the heart, the heart moved by unity. in our lovely new world compassion, guilt's heroic older brother, is replaced by unity exemplified by equanimity.

You know every album is a different experience. My first album was Aenema. To me that was the Tool sound. It was perfect. I then bought Undertow and found it to be a bit more raw but heavier and more powerful in a way, but Aenema was still the best. Then I bought Opiate and even more raw. I then bought Lateralus an at first I thought (what the heck happened to Tool? This album is weak compared to the others... I remember skipping over these 3 songs every time. They always felt like jam sessions to me. Then when 10,000 days came out I lost all hope for Tool. What the heck man. And don't get me started on Fear Incoculm. But for every single tool album is like a learning process, you have to let go of everything you thing you know about their "sound" and just enjoy the experience. Only then these albums become ear candy. Every single note. For me here is my most favorite to least. (Aenema, 10,000 days, Undertow, Fear Inoculum, Opiate). Have a great day

Mention this to me Mention this to me And watch the weather change Watch the weather change Watch the weather change Watch the weather Change Mention this to me Mention something, mention anything Mention this to me Watch the weather change Watch the weather change Watch the weather change Watch the weather change Watch the weather change Change Watch the weather Change Mention this to me Mention something, mention anything Mention this to me Watch the weather Watch the weather change Watch the weather change (Watch the weather) I have come curiously close to the end, down Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole Defeated, I concede and Move closer I may find comfort here I may find peace within the emptiness How pitiful It's calling me It's calling me It's calling me It's calling me And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping The moon tells me a secret, my confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away Before I pine away Before I pine away Before I pine away So crucify the ego, before it's far too late To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable Just let the light touch you And let the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away

I love this piece. Reflection in particular was a deeply spiritual and life changing experience as it came to me at a time in my life I realized how much happier I'd be by not ruminating. Not to understate how good the other parts are. Drumming in particular is magical.

I had only heard a few tool songs passively on the radio for most of my life. Then i listened to hundreds of hrs of Alan Watts and started a meditation practice. It was a perfect time to discover this band.

Triad is Dying and Rebirth. It starts with uneven drums, and gets more uneven, and then the screaming, going out of and back into life again, then the drums get rhythm again and its stable

No just a band??? Holy SH** TOOL is one of only a few bands that have found a way to not only deliver the essence of life through their lyrics but simultaneously allow the listener to feel what the very root of existence really is and that my friends would be the vibration of life something that far surpasses beyond anything physical or human this vibration is all things and is nothing at the exact same time Ascension has completed when you know and understand this to be the truth… keep up the jaw dropping music guys you inspire me and others on a level unmatched by any.🤘🏻 ✌🏻🧠🫀🫁👣🦋🦉🦂🧬🪬🧿⏳❤

the most life-changing time I had was a few years ago. went to a party that ended up getting shut down so here I am back at home and the 3 hits I just took started to wiggle their way out. I decided to put my turtle beach headphones on and Lateralus. just the cover art on the tv screen......with each new song a different part of the artwork would vibrate out and be more prominent. each new part would go with the song that was playing. I still can't fully grasp how everything can flow so perfectly together with the art and the music......

I always liked the way Danny tunes his drums. They really sing.
@YoushouldNOW221 Жыл бұрын
Danny always says that using muffling takes away so much of what makes a drum unique, so he leaves them basically wide open and meticulously tunes each one to have the characteristics, so where most drumers can achieve a sound like Danny's using muffling, his drums will be more complex tonaly. Just another reason why hes one of the greats

If your soul has begun to die their music will halt the death of the soul and reverse towards hope, strength, courage, creative self expression, the healing to let go of the past and even confidence. It might sound ridiculous or cult like but it's just the effect their music has had on me. Different times in my life my soul was dying and through their music they helped me to remember and come back to life. Their music is more than entertainment. It goes deeper than the surface of most art down to the very marrow. And we have nothing like it in the modern culture of today. A real need that all of us have deep down that we forget that we need from music and art that some cultures have not forgot. Thank you Tool! You are just amazing!

Better songs than Sober that can impact by Tool. I hope your friend is ok though. Tool is therapy without the copay. Maybe society realizes tough subjects or truth or at at least honesty? Maybe? Narcissistic abuse is tough.
