Yeah, I'm pretty sure Adam is using a volume pedal. Although, using the knob would probably sound a lot better on an actual Les Paul, as I'm presuming the pickups and kneck are way better so you'd get a lot more volume with better sound just hammering on. Don't get me wrong, this sounds really good, but it's not quite right. The sound on the swells seems a little bit dampened, and it also seems like Adam might have a tiny amount of reverb going too.
@MaxNiessl
@MaxNiessl 5 жыл бұрын
@@augustgreig9420 Yep, I completely agree with you. And I'm a bit mad at myself that I didn't use any reverb/delay in the intro, because I play it with that now and it sounds so much better :(

The thing that surprises me here is that you can actually play this on a Epiphone. I know the knob layout is the same but it doesn't have the same feeling on the neck... therein it just changes the whole vibe of the song..the feel and playability of a certain neck on a certain guitar can affect the way a song sounds man. It's crazy that there are so many guitar covers so soon. I feel that I personally have not quite digested this song enough for me to have fully understood its overall meaning, purpose and placement amongst the rest of the up coming album. A part of me feels that this song might very well be a combination of every song in the album, or that it was meant (in it's release) to throw the fans off track, by not actually being in the album. Great cover!!!
@MaxNiessl
@MaxNiessl 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree on the digestive part. I've listened to this song at work without end, but actually digesting a Tool song takes hell of a lot of time! I very often find myself listening to Tool and still discovering new ideas - as well music-wise as other things. I really like this song and the overall feel of the material we've heard. You can definitely see some similarities to Descending in Fear Inoculum. And thank you! :)

"Since the band is not recording to a click.." - Well, that explains it. I was wondering why the heck the tempo kept changing through the song when I loaded it into my DAW lol! And nice cover too!
@MaxNiessl
@MaxNiessl 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That's not even that crazy. The fact that Rosetta Stoned is not recorded to a click is mental... :D John Kew made a great drum deconstruction video (+ cover) of this. I urge you to check it out. It's also funny that the guitar parts without the drums seem to be recorded with a click in Fear Inoculum and tempo switches again when the drums come on.

Way back in the day I had to go to Sam Goody at the mall to read all the tab books memorize what I could, ride my bike home to play what I remembered. The experience is something I am fond of, but this is so much better. You really have a talent not just your playing ability but this whole presentation is top notch.

Awesome work, this is the first video/tab i've seen of Fear Inoculum that actually plays the 3:35 riff correctly (at least it sounds correct), well done. Only thing differently I (me personally) would do is play the C on the 3rd fret of the A string instead of the 10th fret of the (low) D string.
