Recording this again was actually not as easy as I thought. Memorizing when to slide and when not to is annoying as hell :D I'm very proud of the tone I got here so I added my _isolated guitar track_ in the zip-file for this one. The synced guitar tab (gp, gp5, pdf) is in the description for you to grab. I've redone this tab with much love, paying attention to every last note here. If you find some mistakes, feel more than welcome to comment. I'll add the corrections in the description where other details are already noted :)

The guitar in this song is just other-worldly. Lots of people say that for Tool as a whole, but i really can't compare this to anything else that i've listened to, not even another Tool song. I've been replaying the first third of the song for hours now, i can't get enough of this psychedelic, progressive riff.

@@MaxNiessl It really is. Also, at 0:40, when you have the first slide at the end of the 12th bar, did you do the slide louder on purpose or was it a lucky accident ? Because i REALLY like this sudden increase in volume when you slide, only to fall back down and continue to the 13th bar. Not sure if that's what you call an accent, but i really, really like it!

I feel like that's when you know that you're officially an intermediate level guitarist, when you'd rather just have a play along cover in one ear and a tab open on another monitor as opposed to a full blown song tutorial. It's a much faster way of learning (at least for me) than full on lessons/tutorials.

Been learning this recently, I'm just an average bedroom guitar player. It's not a difficult song technically speaking, but to try and memorise the different patterns and more to the point, where to play them, is so difficult 😆 I guess that's what makes Tool what they are though....great cover, really appreciate the work!

at the 8:00 min mark I kept hearing 3-2-0 or even 3-2-1 instead of that 3-0 pulloff but the downward slide to the deadnote makes so much sense now.

I love how well you cover these songs. I love your guitar and its tone. I love how you provide play-along tabs. I love Tool. I love.... you, Max. Yup. Facts are facts America. But the duration of that pull-through bit has my index finger turning an interesting shade of purple. I thought Jambi was a pull-through nightmare but...damn you Adam Jones!

If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Got my guitar a few weeks ago and learning this song since its my favorite off the new album, 11:04 - Drone Riff (N) has me stumped, I can't seem to get the A string to ring out over the D string that I keep strumming throughout that part, I see in the tabs he notes that it seems to be double tracked so is that the only way to get that noise to be louder? I'm trying to turn up the treble and mid on my amp (using digital setup with irig hd2) but I seem to be strumming the first string way too hard. Sorry I'm bad at explaining it but wondering if there's a technique to strum the 2nd string harder and I just need to practice that more to get the sound that adam gets on this part of the song. Amazing lessons btw thanks for the vids man

@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged Diezel amplifiers are very unique in their sound. I used an older Marshall '69 Plexi for the Fear Inoculum cover. I think Marshall JCMs would do to :)
