Recording this again was actually not as easy as I thought. Memorizing when to slide and when not to is annoying as hell :D I'm very proud of the tone I got here so I added my _isolated guitar track_ in the zip-file for this one. The synced guitar tab (gp, gp5, pdf) is in the description for you to grab. I've redone this tab with much love, paying attention to every last note here. If you find some mistakes, feel more than welcome to comment. I'll add the corrections in the description where other details are already noted :)

The guitar in this song is just other-worldly. Lots of people say that for Tool as a whole, but i really can't compare this to anything else that i've listened to, not even another Tool song. @@MaxNiessl It really is. Also, at 0:40, when you have the first slide at the end of the 12th bar, did you do the slide louder on purpose or was it a lucky accident ? Because i REALLY like this sudden increase in volume when you slide, only to fall back down and continue to the 13th bar. Not sure if that's what you call an accent, but i really, really like it!

I sitll remember the first time I listened through this album. It had been a long 13 year wait for new Tool. This song quickly became my favorite. When I heard the intro riff resurface in the outro at 11:58 I had tears in my eyes. Still gets me to this day.

I feel like that's when you know that you're officially an intermediate level guitarist, when you'd rather just have a play along cover in one ear and a tab open on another monitor as opposed to a full blown song tutorial. It's a much faster way of learning (at least for me) than full on lessons/tutorials.

Ive been analyzing some Tool songs, and Ive noticed its not just in Jambi. Adam does that triplet pull-thru a lot. But riffs like this, and Jambi, of course its more noticeable lol. I think he does it in "The Pot" if Im not mistaken. Or at least Ive heard it. (Or maybe it was another song, I forget)

Same happens to me. If I actually think about it while playing, it trips me up a little every time. The worst for me is 0:34 - 0:43. Especially :36 with the skipped string. It's like it's in my head and prying open my third eye.

fuck yeah dude you got that Adam Jones groove, most people cant pull off his rhythms. I grew up and only learned Tool songs shit helped me tremendously with playing any groove . he plays very organic there sound is very alive with timings and shit.... Kudos man! best so far from any cover videos, they just play the notes and nah you cant do that with Tool. you gotta feel that shit.

If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Got my guitar a few weeks ago and learning this song since its my favorite off the new album, 11:04 - Drone Riff (N) has me stumped, I can't seem to get the A string to ring out over the D string that I keep strumming throughout that part, I see in the tabs he notes that it seems to be double tracked so is that the only way to get that noise to be louder? I'm trying to turn up the treble and mid on my amp (using digital setup with irig hd2) but I seem to be strumming the first string way too hard. @@2yoyoyo1Unplugged Diezel amplifiers are very unique in their sound. I used an older Marshall '69 Plexi for the Fear Inoculum cover. I think Marshall JCMs would do to :)

Im also playing on an Epiphone custom pro silverburst ,glad to see Epiphone get some love the tone is there for sure. Dont have enough or feel skilled enough for a 5 thousand dollar guitar right now.
