Massive Zeppelin fan here. Idk how you can love Zep and not adore Tool. Same band, different era IMO. I see so much correlation between the 2 bands. I have this box set too. It rules!

I’m a massive Tool fan and I pre-ordered this set on day one. I always thought it was bullshit when someone said ‘this music changed my life’, that was until I heard Tool for the first time. Their music changed my fucking life for sure.

So just got mine, excellent sound, flat discs and quiet. I read it was mastered by Bernie Grundman, now it makes sense why it sounds so good.

When/if we get Tool reissues (and first issues) of their other stuff my fingers are crossed they are just a standard single LP/2LP jacket. But you know Maynard will put out more of these over-the-top limited edition sets. Tool is not a vinyl-friendly band in the least bit. Ultimate teases.

I've been so tempted to purchase this boxset. I think this set is fairly priced. I haven't spent more than $70 on vinyl yet. I've got this on CD and it sounds great. I'm sure the vinyl sounds amazing. I'm hoping they release a simplier double vinyl gatefold at some point.

I'm not a Tool fan but the music is so different than anything I have in my collection ( the real reason I bought this is cause it was cut by Chris Bellman) so I pre-ordered it when it first came out..I see a lot of people saying the price is too much I think for what you get with the art and all it is no different than saying UHQR that everyone buys for 125.00 for 1 record this was mastered at Bernie Grundman. Great sounding boxset.

I like Tool, but I’m on the fence on getting the box set. I really think it’s overpriced for what you’re getting. I would’ve much rather seen a two-LP album with a gatefold cover for $60-$75.

Thanks for showing the boxset! It looks killer! It’s tempting, but I don’t know. The 13 year wait kind of took the wind out of my sails. The album doesn’t call to me like the older ones do. But a month ago I went back for a listen and enjoyed what I heard. I know it will be released later on with with a cheaper set, and 10,000 days will be out as well. I have a couple Acoustic Sounds Doors albums to get to finish the set, then the MOFI one-steps that will be coming….

It would be worth it if you hold as a rare asset ( investment ) however I saw 220 euro ( living in Eu) and I went for some other version 53 euro this album I like tool and collecting vinyl as investment but like you said serious money and I don’t have now for this …. I got the lateralus also instead of … rest money go for stock market now 😀

Thanks for showing us this. I really like Tool, seen them a couple of times and going to see them next month but i'm not a diehard fan. I wish it will be avalaible as a regular 2 disc set, i couldn't care less about the etched sides ( not Just this, i got a several records that have Side D etched and i don't see the point, it's not like it's beautiful or something)and can't afford to spend so much money on a release. But they seem to live on another planet thinking people have so much to spend, it was the same for the cd release, overpriced stuff for a shitty video, non sense. Anyway like i said thank you for your review 👍

Coming in 2023, the 30th anniversary, special edition Undertow 10 LP set. Each track will have its own LP and it will only be $300! A total steal of a deal! lol.
