The more Tool riffs I learn, the more I am amazed how simple they are. Adam Jones has made a career out of bringing out the epic qualities from simple riffs. I think he's masterclass in underplaying.

I was at Tool's show in Grand Rapids, MI a few weeks ago and they played Hooker there. I loved seeing this played live. Btw, that was my first time seeing them live.

Jones has said in interviews that he plays this like Jambi and Invincible, with the pull off triplet. Again, you are spot on.

Gonna see Tool on 6th May for first time. Words cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to see Adam playing live.
@thethirdpoliceman912 жыл бұрын
He's a clean performer and a legend, however don't expect him to seem excited in return though. You'll see more movement from a dead cat. :B Think he's trying to go against the 'guitar god' archetype. No power stance, headbanging, or pointing to the crowd. 2x4 Jones.

@@thethirdpoliceman91 Yup love the guy, huge inspiration to me and why I play guitar.

He's a great musician. People always think tool fans are only enamoured by the bands messages, which can be a good reason to enjoy them thanks to mjk, but Adam writes some of the catchiest riffs I've heard. Most the time I'm just enjoying the groove. Or being soothed by the proggy stuff. Enjoy the gig!

I saw them in Moline a few weeks ago. The main riff is played down on the 1st and 3rd frets, and is actually pull offs rather than hammer on's.

When he showed up with the V then suddenly starts playing that intro, whole place went crazy! I play the verse part the same way and the intro a bit differrent, either way very fun song to play

man I would love to see that
@johnseddon97632 жыл бұрын
Generally love your videos, they've been really helpful over the years when jamming Tool, but the whole intro is completely off here - the first riff is open D, with the A string fretted at the 12th, then 10th fret on D/12th maintained on the A with some bending. The heavy riff when the drums/bass kick isn't down on the 10/12th frets, that's where Justin plays it. Adam holds the 5th fret on the A string and pulls off the 3rd fret on the D string (as seen live on the recent tour!)

It’s interesting to hear how similar the 11/8 riff is to the bottom riff toward the end of the song
