I don't know if this is going to come across properly, but, one of the things I loved so much about seeing Tool is that, along with their incredible music, their live shows make use of a lighting setup that is anything but standard or stereotypical of any rock band. To stand there, and be blown away by their music, accompanied with a barrage of visual stimuli is phenomenal. I love this band primarily because of their live shows. They're an extra dimensional force and everyone should go see them.

Their shows are still worth going to, in my opinion. Maynard may not be able scream like he use to, but he can still sing pretty damn well and the other guys play so well live. Those visuals are also amazing.

this band is ridiculously underrated. they got one of the best drummers on this planet, and have amazing innovative songs with music that has no repetition whatsoever. tool is one of the few bands where 1 song transforms continuously and varies until the very end. it's amazing that they had almost no mainstream recorded performances. maybe it's because their songs are about the truth in our world, and the media is completely against spreading such innovative enlightenment that may open minds.

A live performance allows the true sound breaking through the speakers and coursing through your veins. It sends chills down your spine and takes you on a ride through your consciousness, leaving your ego at the door and allowing you to experience life vicariously through the harmony of excellent music. You cannot get that from a DVD. That is unless you drop some dead head chemistry into your system. If you haven't seen them live DO IT!!!!

For a guitarist who plays a lot of riffs & licks in drop D (as compared to LZ's Jimmy Page & Hendrix who both mostly played in standard tuning & C sharp - which I think is more difficult) - he is truly an amazing talent who like Page & Hendrix utilize the effects petals like a magician - I also agree that Maynard is an extremely effective vocalist...

At the end of the 2002 tour, the last 6 shows were put on video. They were supposed to release it for X-mas that year. They never did. In one article it said their video didn't represent what its like to be at a live show. One day I hope they release that video... (I was at the last 4 shows that tour!! dang it!)
