Really like that you're spotlighting alternative brands. The Internet makes it so much easier to research, buy and save a butt load of money on tools. When I started out, the choices were tool trucks, Sears, or questionable junk from the local hardware store.

All of my chrome sockets in 1/4” and 3/8” are Gearwrench, I use their flex ratchets in all sizes, and have the flex head ratcheting wrenches as well. I love my Gearwrench tools! Awesome value and I haven’t broken any yet. I have another brand’s impact sockets in 8/10/12 mm but for any other size I use the Gearwrench chrome sockets on my M12 Fuel 1/4” impact and they hold up just fine.

My main set of wrenches are the 120xp combination with the flex head. Been using then for 4 years and they’ve held up great. Very solid ratcheting mechanism, never had a skip. Only issues is the flex head starts flopping around when you put some torque on the smaller wrenches, but that’s common in any flex head.

However I got a set of their impact swivels and I love them! Guy I work with has The snap-on swivels and I honestly think the GW set gets in more places and out performs them! I also recommend the GW ratchets to all the up and coming techs out there! You can buy a set of 3 for the price of 1 matco or snap on and I think that there pretty close if not as good quality!

I've have had the mechanism on the 14mm lock up a few times. I told myself, "Self, don't buy anymore Gearwrench!" With that being said the Gearwench 3/8", swivel-head ratchet I ordered should be in early next week. So, it's either Everything Man-made will break or I'm a glutton for punishment. Those original Gearwrench sets are very rare and were made much better, shame about the metric set. I have a set from the early 2000's and compared it to sets from now. And too answer your question about why guys would buy gear wrench from the tool Trucks! I’m thinking it’s the reason why you buy anything from a tool truck (besides quality) it’s the fact you can make that 30$ weekly payment! I’ve been turning wrench for a long time but I sold my tools and got out of it professionally for a long time! So this year when I stared out again I had to start low and prove my self! And I didn’t start with a very high pay rate that’s for sure! And yeah I would Have got a lot of stuff off line and saved 100s of $$$$s buy I didn’t have the upfront scratch to do so! So I had to do it the old fashioned way and make my 40$ a week payment to all the tool Trucks! Is it the best way? No absolutely not!!! But some times it’s the only way! Anyway happy 4th buddy I love this channel keep up the great content

@lynyrd5835 жыл бұрын
Good spotlight. I would add that they're not just an alternative, they are the same as some Tool truck tools. Gearwrench is mad by Apex Tool Group who also makes many Matco tools, especially ratcheting wrenches. It has been a production deal for most Matco branded tools that are no longer has made in the USA. I have USA Made Matco Ratcheting wrenches made in the Danaher days which are different. I also have Matco and Gearwrench ratcheting . . . identical. Any rebranded, non-usa made tool sold by a Tool Truck brand, whether it be Snap-On, Matco, Cornwell, is purely a lie and a con.

I bought the big set of GW Metric ratchet wrenches because the price of the SO is crazy. I am very disappointed with them. The reversing lever is sticking on the 12, 17, and 21 and causes the gear to bind. Is anyone else out there having this problem? None of my older GW ratchet wrenches had this problem.
