mikey41rules tool only had a cassette they pressed and a under appreciated EP out at the time Kyuss was playing at desert parties. Around that time kyuss was doing their “desert rock” and I think they had songs out that dare I say where a little more phycadlic and technical but I think they toured together in the mid 90s

The thing is that many of the other songs that TOOL covers sound alot like tool. There were probably a lot of these specific types of bands that have almost an identical type of music. But TOOL has been the most successful out of all of these bands
@toastythecod97453 жыл бұрын
I think it's more that they've just covered it in their own style really well. Danny's drumming and the the tone of the bass, guitar and Maynard's haunting vocals are what make it sound like Tool imo.

(Having listened to this a LOT) I think you are right. It is very hard to hear, but I think there are 2 basses played throughout the duration of the song, and Justin is playing more or less the same bassline for the whole thing. Would also make sense as to why Maynard yells “Scott reeder!” At the end, if he’s the one doing the much more complicated finger picking stuff. To me It almost sounds like Justin either is playing at a much lower volume than usual or the levels in the mixer are just turned down enough for reeders bass to be the one you primarily hear? Definitely still unsure, but I would say 80-90% certain that what you and I described is accurate.
