I'm 7 feet 380 pounds. Not a small guy by any means and I have the ego zero turn mower that I bought last year and the thing is an absolute monster. On a full charge, i can trim edges, mow all 2000 sq ft, blow loose grass, & still have half charge left. & all together, mower+trimmer+blower+80v battery+charger= around $550

I'm a recent ego convert - love their tools - 2 stage snow blower, mower, 765 cfm leaf blower, 600cfm backpack blower, multi head trimmer, edger, weeder - I just got the backpack link and helps reduce the weight of the handheld tools (trimmer, handheld blower, chainsaw) and puts the battery on your back - well worth the cost and the arm pain.

I have all three products. I couldn't agree more. I bought these products to avoid the time and maintenance costs. Really glad I did. The only thing I would add is the batteries regardless of size only take about an hour to fully charge. If you have the rapid charger you could even be looking at about 45 minutes to full charge. So the batteries charge very quickly. I live on a quarter acre and I never run out of power when I do my lawn

I bought my Ego self propelled mower about 3 years ago and haven’t had any issue with it until last year. The battery started loosing capacity at 21/2 years. Right before the end of mowing season. In the spring I couldn’t get the whole lawn done on a charge. I live in north Texas and our yards are TINY. I called Ego and explained my problem and they couldn’t find me in their database and I was sure I had registered it on line. I looked up service centers on Google and Ace Hardware was the closest to me. I took the battery and the charger along with my receipt from Lowe’s to them and left it. A week later the repair guy called me and said he had contacted Ego and they approved a warranty replacement. That was a huge relief because the 10 amp/hr battery is $500! My new battery lasts 2+ weeks between charges,and that’s running the blower as well. I’m completely satisfied with my Ego mower and blower. They aren’t cheep but are very good quality and hell,I don’t have to keep any gas in my garage.

Ego now sold at Lowe's. I purchased the 1st generation walk behind self-propelled mower in the summer of 2018. In less than a year, the speed control for the drive wheels got stuck on full speed, too fast for mowing. Home Depot sent it off for repair and it took almost 2 months to get it back. This was in July/August of 2019 so right during the height of mowing season. Fast forward to January 2022, and I pull it out to knock down some winter weeds. Drive wheels would not work at all. After some discussion with customer service, they decided to just send me a new mower. It came in just yesterday, so kudos to EGO and their customer service.

Just bought the EGO LM2102 self-propelled mower yesterday, after deciding to ditch the landscaper. I have a relatively small lawn, but it's also not entirely level and about a third of it has a good grade (probably close to the 15%), so I was concerned about the wheels slipping (as other self-propels I've borrowed in the past have done), and the weight of pushing the mower around up the grade given that the specification weight was similar to that of a gas mower (I am 68 after all). After doing the first cut last evening I have to say how presently surprised I was at the experience, in fact blown away. The unit pulled itself around effortlessly on the inclines, even the high grade and I was simply just walking around behind it with almost no effort. And the QUIET! THE QUIET! I Wish I had done this several years ago. Kit came with the 7.5ah battery and rapid charger. Battery was at 25% out of the box, and was fully charged in about a half hour for first cut. Things I liked the most: self-propel works independent of cutter blade so you can just move around (can't do that with gas), and the self-propel speed range goes from slight crawl to faster than I'd ever want to go. Well engineered product. Fold up and vertical storage is sweet! I will definitely be buying one of their string trimmer models, blower, and maybe the hedge trimmer next season.

I also have an Ego mower and graphite trimmer as well as the single stage snowblower, multi head system with edger, hege trimmer (!!!) and cultivator and have used them for over a year now. Can say they have all performed to my expectations or better (hedge trimmer). I also eventually broke down and got the 4 charger Ego Nexus with batteries as well so now I have a 2000/3000 watt inverter that can run off the 8 batteries I now have if the power goes out. Some things to keep in mind: 1. Batteries are cheaper when purchased with tools! 2. Batteries will self-discharge to a lower level after 30 days for maintenance reasons. 3. Batteries are not designed to be used or stored below freezing. When I use my snowblower I bring batteries from inside to outside and remove after use. Never had a problem this way. 4. The hedge trimmer attachment can also be used to cut low to the ground if you have overgrown weeks. I've been taking out 6 foot sumac and pokeweek out back. Only problem is getting them out of the way after cutting so I can move forward. Still wish I had a brush hog to just grind it all up on the ground.

On the 18v platform the Ryobi Trimmer works excellent, and you can hang it in any direction and not worry about spilling anything. However, the battery life on the 18v mower wasn't good 10 minutes each battery so Ryobi must make a different voltage mower that you're talking about.

My Honda is 21 years old - think a battery will last that long? New technology and very good according to your video but 3 things that bother me. Limited run time, battery life, and power - these items would affect me greatly as my yard is a pretty good size. These are probably great for a smaller yard and I realize larger yards are usually done with a rider but some of the limitations I've listed will certainly make a difference for me. Some of the features are really good - noise, weight, maintenance and no gas - those are fantastic! That being said I prefer the gasoline engines. I really enjoyed your video - very informative and very well done - kudos!

We charged the 7.5 and 2.5 and started working while the 1.5 was charging. Never had to wait for a charge working in the yard for approx 3 hours. The mower was perfect and stores completely collapsed and standing on the back end. The blower is awesome, string trimmer and hedge trimmer are nice also. Highly recommend. After we finished I think it took about 30-40min to charge the mower battery. Wasn’t watching closely. Takes about 15min(?) to charge the smaller ones (on the rapid charger)

I have the Kobalt 80volt mower and I wouldn't go back to gas. This is the second summer of using it. I did get the kit that included the 6 amp-hr battery instead of the smaller I think was a 2 amp-hr. The six amp-hr I can get two cuts of my 1/4 acre lot on a charge depending on how long the grass has gotten on me. Going into the winter I picked up the the Kobalt 80volt snow blower kit, to replace the Toro two cycle I had. This was an even better decision than the mower. If you live some place you have to remove snow I suggest you pick up the battery operated snow blower too.

I have the Ego backpack blower, Edger, Mower, Weed Eater, Power Station and Backpack Link. As for the trimmers only 2 have the auto wind ability and the newest model has the Line IQ ability for the auto feed so no need for bumping. The backpack blower has a little bit less cfm then the 650 but in my opinion it’s more comfortable and easier to manipulate to get what needs to be done, the mower will take 5.0 / 7.5 / 10.0 getting 1/2-1 1/2 acres on a full charge. The biggest downfall of Ego products is the cost of the batteries ranging in cost from 150 for the 2.5 to 500 for the 10.0

I have a love/hate relationship with my 4-y/o self propelled mower. I love the battery life, easy lift and drop lever to adjust mowing height, and easy storage. I don't like their warranty.. I bought a discounted mower from Home Depot but when it wouldn't run the second season, EGO didn't want to fix it. I had to get a supervisor involved until they fixed the short in the handle. (I guess it's from shortening and lengthening the handle; so I don't do that anymove). I hate that it ALWAYS leaves a grass line on the right side of the mower. Last year I saw that they offer a two-blade mulching system, but I was told my mower is too old and the added torque requirement would ruin the motor. I keep the blade sharp and deck clean, but it ALWAYS leaves a grass line. I can mow in the morning and re-mow in the evening; THERE'S STILL A GRASS LINE!! This is in both mulch or bagging modes. The blade doesn't overlap the wheels so I have to overlap the wheels into the already mowed section to get all the grass cut. And then there's not enough lift from the blade to pull the grass upward so it all gets cut so I have to go over the same path more than once and sometimes three times. Customer service suggested that I guy a newer one to get the mulching blades. I don't buy a new mower every two or three years. I want one that works from the get-go.

I have that blower and the gutter cleaner kit... and it will blow everything out of your gutters.... Just make sure you use a throw away sun hat and goggles... And, periodically take time to clean the head of the trimmer, too my gunk can cause the string autofeed mechanism to not work as efficiently, which I'm sure isn't good for it.

Been using EGO for my lawn service. Started when Honda made some changes to their 2020 model. Time to go mower shopping. Tried EGO. Hated it. Put a high lift blade on it (back before the select cut was available) and I went from having an electric mower and a mower for a back up to having a mower and an ICE mower for a back up. Now I have all electric tools in my trailer. No maintenance, but when an electric component fails, it fails. There is no time between on and off when it is running a little poor.
@tomcoon90382 жыл бұрын
This is the main issue I have heard. The electrics do not have blades that lift the grass and cut. As such they are nearly useless if you just want to bag leaves by mowing over sending them to the bagger. I hope they have fixed that issue. I'm sure a lifting blade would create more drag and thus shorten battery life. Is that what you are saying? Does the Select Cut lift?

@@tomcoon9038 The select cut XP comes with a High Lift blade in the box (not pre installed). I have not noticed a shorter run time when using the high lift blade. Can't say that would matter that much to me if it was a shorter run time. When the battery is low I just swap it for the one in the charging cradle in my trailer.

I own 2 properties. Currently in my possession I have 2 gas mowers, 2 gas string trimmers, a gas leaf blower, a coded blower, corded bush trimmer, corded string trimmer, and a Worx 20V string trimmer and blower combo (both are like children's toys). I am going to have a garage sale soon and sell them ALL. This year's Ego mower has more torque, a faster motor, a new superfast charger and a 10 AMP BATTERY. it's also a pound or 2 lighter than previous models. It folds up so small it fits into the back of my SUV with the seat up. I can use one mower on both properties. This year's Ego string trimmer has a telescoping aluminum shaft and is still as light as carbon fiber, and has a 2 speed selector. It's silent and doesn't make my hands shake afterward like my gas ones do. My 650CFM ego blower moves leaves and debris so fast you use LESS battery life than another blower with less power. My Ego bush trimmer can cut branches ONE INCH THICK. All 4 tools fit in my SUV. I can drive up, now, trim, edge, cut my bushes and blow in slightly more time than it took to start all the gas tools and run an extension cord. SIDE NOTE: if Ryobi is better, why does this year's Ryobi look like an Ego clone?

@@ToolReviewZone Wrong. It just proves they have no original ideas. And to be better, they'll have to redesign their batteries so the power doesn't fade above 90 degrees. Consumer Reports magazine tested them.

Have you had any issues with the self propelled mower is so light weight that the front end lifts up too easy causing it to not mow that piece of grass that was missed when the mower lifted up due to it being so light weight?

I've not used EGO but like what I see. I have a 10 year old Greenworks 40V mower, chainsaw and trimmer. The mower is cheaply built but is still working though the rear wheels were replaced 5 years ago. My property is over two acres with over a half acre of grass that takes 2 hours to mow, so this little mower has seen a great deal of use and saved me many hundreds of dollars in gasoline over the years. I will need a new one soon but am pissed at Greenworks at having for many different battery platforms now. The best thing about these tools is that their batteries all still work however they take 2 hours to fully charge from empty. I wonder if the fast charging shortens the life of the newer batteries because I've seen numberous comments below reviews of EGO pruducts that the batteries have failed.
@BronzeLincolns812 жыл бұрын
No, the fast charger will not damage the battery. charging fast doesn't harm the battery, heat does. I have 3 of the 700w turbo chargers. They're pretty loud for chargers because they have internal fans on them to cool the battery along with vents on the EGO battery packs. because of that they run as cool as using a much slower charger. If you use these batteries, or any battery for that matter, in a commercial capacity they'll last only a year or two because you'll be putting 400 cycles on the battery per year. for residential users who will cycle the batteries 30 times a year on the high end, these batteries will last a decade or more. I've also seen numerous videos of people talking about battery failure. most of them are either talking about a defective unit which EGO replaced under warranty, someone using them in a commercial capacity, or the user runs it in turbo mode the whole time which causes the batteries to quit because they overheat.

Thanks for the video. I bought the trimmer 3 years ago and absolutely love it especially the trimmer line loading! Nothing better....so, I bought the blower 2 years ago and love it too. Right now, I am shopping for a Self Propelled mower. I am thinking about EGO because of my other two products. If I factor in gas and oil over a season, the higher price may make sense. Thanks again.
@alan301892 жыл бұрын
The problem is, if that battery dies in 5 to 10 years, you’ll spend $500 to replace the 5ah battery (I think that was the size) which is probably 30 times more than you would spend on gas and oil in five years, depending on the size of your yard. They need to get the price of the batteries down, substantially. From what I saw on another review, they also need to improve the mulching capabilities.
@donaldgillmore73902 жыл бұрын
@@alan30189 It partly depends on how you care for the battery and how much lawn there is to mow. I'm on acreage, have a puny Greenworks mower that takes 3 hours each time and mow weekly during the spring and early summer. At today's gas prices in British Columbia I would be paying $5 to fuel each lawn mowing session. It works out to $100 per year in gas approximately, perhaps $50 per year up until prices soared. Even at $50 per year, my mower is in its 10th year without replacing batteries so it has definiely been a good investment. The 5AH battery is not $500. In Canada, it's $380 every day, so probably more like $300 in the USA. If you have a small lawn there would not be much gas involved but the batteries would still deteriorate, with age, though not as quickly as if they were used more. So the math favors electric the more lawn mowing you do per year. Yes there is some electicity cost but it is negligible compared to the gas. The gas motors in outdoor power equipment, especially but not limited to the two stroke ones in leaf blowers, trimmers and chainsaws, are not nearly as efficient as road vehicle motors.
@mattmiller7192 жыл бұрын
@@alan30189 I'm going through this now. My 5ah ego battery died after 6.5 years of mowing 1/4 acre once a week about 7 months out of the year. I'm debating if I want to spend $268 to replace the battery. It's definitely more expensive than a gas mower and doesn't cut as well as my previous gas mower. I do like the convenience of electric but not sure if convenience outweighs the cost.
@alan301892 жыл бұрын
@@mattmiller719 Did you recharge your battery on a regular basis, especially during the off-season? You don’t want them to run down and need to recharge every three months or so when not in use, or whatever time span the manufacturer’s instructions say. Maybe GreenWorks makes a better battery, per what Donald said, above. I’m hoping that Ego has made major improvements to their battery system and mower in the last 6 1/2 years. I think they still have a ways to go.

Great review mate, it caught my eye on tv because of the trimmer cord. I already have all the Ryobi stuff which as you say is good enough for me. But RYOBI could do better on the self releasing trimmer cord. Have never seen the Ego products here in Australia but I will keep my eyes peeled when I need a new one . Keep up the good work and also happy to see you edited the language that always gives more credibility 😀👍🏽

With the price of gas skyrocketing, I decided to go with the EGO line of tools. I haven't been disappointed. I didn't buy the self-propelled model because to me that just uses more battery. It does a great job and the not having to deal with gasoline is a major plus. I also bought the string trimmer, leaf blower and the 16" chainsaw. I had been wanting to move to battery operated equipment but wasn't sure which brand to go with but after seeing several videos and reviews, I settled on EGO. Best decision ever! BTW, great video!!

You do know you can buy the self propelled version and just not engage it when you don't want to use it right? It's worth having when you need it and doesn't kill the battery like you would think.

Hey boss, I have the snow blower and self propelled lawn mower. After seeing your review on the weed eater (no string hassle bs awesome)...Have you tried the cultivator? Need to do some gardening...Let me know!
@billjordan11732 жыл бұрын
I bought the cultivator after starting to till an area that is about 12x20 by hand. Already had the edger with the multi-tool shaft, so figured I'd give the cultivator a try. Saved me a ton of time and work. I was working with soil that was pretty well packed, so it took me a couple of runs to get through it, but it worked great. Works best if you pull it backward. If you are working with an established garden that you simply want to till up every year, it'll be a piece of cake. Even if I never use mine again, it was worth the cost for the work it saved me.
