Tools: Metal hand plane restoration

In this tutorial, Brian shows how to take a rusty old metal hand plane and make it work like new.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
1. Disassemble
2. Remove blade
3. Wipe clean
4. Sand off rust until true and flat
5. Wax and oil

I just picked up a 60 1/2 Stanley today...more beat up than what you shown so looking forward to restoring it. btw, what is the primary and the secondary angles of that blade? do you also do a micro bevel on this blade even if it's a bevel-up plane? Thanks for sharing!

Good stuff Brian! How would you go about restoring a wood hand plane with glue and residue all over it? I've read where some people have boiled the wood or steamed them - seems like that's not the best route.
