I was reading a medical surgical nursing book that I have and it talked about these diagnostic tests and etc. How long did they stay on one thing in nursing school. You cannot learn on how to do a basic head to toe assessment in one week it takes time or learnin gon how to start an IV and all the lab skills. what is a patient flow chart. Does school also teach you how to work in the ICU,ER, L&D, or OR. Personally I feel like I would like a med surg floor. what is the telemetry unit like.

I was also wondering if you could make a video on your experience about taking the NCLEX, how did you prepare, did you take any supplemantal course for example Hurst or Kaplan reviews and if so did you like them or not and which would you recommend and just over all how you prepared for it. Im a senior in nursing school so the time to take the nclex and to prepare for it is fast approaching! So id truly appreciate your input and information :)

Sorry for both of the long comments and there are some others like bladder scans tracheostomy care changing peripheral dressing and iv solution and flushing iv lines and so on. Not to mentions doing health assessment auscultating heart and breath sounds, making care plans doing nursing notes and charting and always reassessing your patients. I got a med surg book at home do nurses really schedule diagnostic tests and perform other than an EKG or does a med surg book go over it for BG Info

alright. One thing about nursing school. What makes it so hard. I hear like the information is not really that hard to learn but I hear it goes at such a fast pace and they throw so much information at you at once is what makes it difficult. I am sure they have pop quizzes as well they appear randomly. Do you have to learn any algebra in nursing math. I also hear they try to trick you on tests where all the answers to the question is right but there is one where is most important.

So they test your critical thinking skills. I want nursing school to be a great experience not something that will scar me forever. It discourages me so much just when I thought I had being a nurse figured out more questions pop into my mind. Like are nurses allowed to perform diagnostic tests like MRI or CT scans or anything else I thought techncians and doctors did all them. I know nurses are trained to read ekg patterns and can obtain them as ordered.
