I have had a Taurus 856 for many years, I got it to carry as a BUG when I was a police officer, and it was a reliable pocket pistol. I put checkered boot grips on it when my rubber grips wore down from constant carry. It is a good gun, and I like the fact that it holds 6 instead of 5. I may get me one of the newer 856 revolvers just to have as a spare. I hope you still like yours.

@johndilday1846 Жыл бұрын
@@Robert_Sparkman_07 The quality of manufacture of the few Smiths that I have had is better than these. That being said, as a police officer, my equipment was rode hard and put away wet. I found the Taurus to be perfectly serviceable for my use, and having the extra round was great for my paranoia. The Smiths were way more expensive and could be damaged too, but they were fixed faster than the Taurus. The main benefit of the Taurus was the lower initial cost meant that you weren’t upset when in the course of duty use it got banged up and scratched. Ruger revolvers were also good, but they weighed a ton.

While I understand military and police carrying semiautomatic pistols because they find themselves in positions where more ammo could be the difference between life and death but for the average person carrying for personal protection if and when you unfortunately have to use it these situations are going to be quick and up close and if you have done your due diligence with regards to being completely comfortable with the weapon on the drawl and proficient shooting it 5/6 rounds are more than enough hell a double tap center mass is more than an adequate threat stopper

What I’ll say about Taurus wheelguns: there are some problem guns, but in my experience if something’s wrong you can generally catch it with the naked eye by inspecting it at the store. If the sights are cut straight, the action cycles normally etc., you are probably good to go and they can turn out to be nice trustworthy tools. Double action triggers will smooth out with use for sure, and the nice single action pull you encountered out of the box is typical. Six rounds instead of five is a nice improvement.

I don’t understand why does it change from 9 pounds to 3 pounds for different actions of fire? & How do you change it
@ToolsandTargets2 жыл бұрын
For double action/single action revolvers, you can fire them two ways. If you pull back the hammer first and then pull the trigger, you are firing in single action and all you are doing when you pull the trigger is releasing the hammer and striking the firing pin to fire the gun. That gives you far less resistance than the second way, which is to simply pull the trigger without first cocking the hammer. That is considered double action because the trigger pull is both cocking the hammer and firing the gun. There is greater weight because of the increased resistance of the trigger pull from it rotating the cylinder and cocking the hammer before releasing the hammer and striking the firing pin.😎👍

Nice work there Tools. As a revolver shooter I'd like to offer up a suggestion...choke up on the gun a little. I shouldn't see any of the gun between the top of your hand and the knuckle of the frame. It gives you more control of the gun and lightens the trigger pull (changes the angle of the leverage, from the angle of your trigger finger). You can see what I'm describing in my last couple revolver videos.

I know what ya mean for sure. The problem I have with these little .38's is I have very big hands/long fingers and I have to try to tuck my thumb out of the way so it doesn't get smacked by the back of the cylinder. That causes my grip to get a little wonky for sure. I don't have that problem too much with larger framed ones like my .44 mag. The Rock Island is even worse because it has that skinny little wood grip that I'm too stubborn to change because I like the looks.😂 Appreciate the advice brother!

@@ToolsandTargets Big hands, little grips do create their own set of issues that's for sure. Choking up will still likely help I think.

No, budu používat munici 38 spec.

I had a Taurus 357 revolver in 1986 & traded it in for a Beretta 9mil. I like 357 round & i have a Henry X 357 lever action & need a buddy for it but can't afford a smith & wesson revolver. I would like a 3 inche barrel not much into snub nose.

I like the 38 snubs. I'm still unsure what's the best ammo to carry. Everyone has a different opinions. Seems too many tacti-carry specialists are too preoccupied with arguing which 22 is the ultimate "defensive" round and no one cares that the old 38's did the job for a very long time.

Thank you sir. I bought the 206 specifically because of the look with the wood grips. There's no doubt the black plastic ones are a better option if you're gonna carry it and want the best shooting experience.

Another great video Tools. I'd like one of those 856's but I blew the budget on the GX4 at the beginning of the month and an old Model '94 last week. I already have two snubbies I rotate anyway, an LCR and an old H&R in .32 mag. Thanks for a thorough review!

I have a question. I have the 605 Taurus with that safety in the hammer that you use the key. I never use it but worry the lock may go on when I need it. Are these locks reliable? Does this gun you show have a Hillary hole lock?
@ToolsandTargets3 жыл бұрын
This one doesn't have it but my .44 mag Taurus tracker and an older PT709 slim semi auto that I own also has that safety system too. I never use it and it hasn't given me any trouble with either gun through quite a bit of rounds. I would never use it because I think those kinda things are a liability. When I need to get to my weapon fast, I can't be messing with trying to find a little tool to make it operable.
