I had a tooth that had no pain. I went for exam and dentist said that tooth had cavity. ok fine. she filled. before filling never had issue with that tooth now it hurts 4 months later when food or water any temp hits it. the pain comes in a wave and fades out. its not horrible but its very noticable and uncomfortable. She did say the cavitty was bigger than she expaected when she was filling. I need to go back for a cleaning in a month and trying to hold off setting up extra appointment. wouldnt suprise me if I need a crown now. Teeth are annoying as hell.

my pain did go away for now with senstive tooth paste and leaving the paste on the teeth and not rinsing with water after. took a few weeks of using tooth paste

I am going through same thing I had a abscess grow doctor said it was not one smh my gums are swollen. I can’t drink anything that is liquid without it feeling like I am being stabbed with a knife in my jaw. I went to the dentist. I had no pain on my tooth walked out to talk. He said the same thing it was due to being a cavity and I was OK with the root canal. I don’t understand why we did not go that route in the first place.

It should be law for dentists to use a numbing agent and prescribe Diclofenac or some suitable painkiller following treatment. Enough of this “pain dentistry” - there’s a reason many people hate going, because we experience more pain than before treatment!

@@codingaddict2108 I had a filling 7 days ago. Just settling down now after being in agony pretty much off the scale. Apparently a deep filling ( he informed me) and might need route canal?? ( he would say that at £395.) But feel good currently. So persevere with pain relief for now. Good luck.

Yeah had this done to me I had like 5 done on one side. It even hurts to get the floss between my teeth. Don’t know if it’s normal. Also when they were doing the dental work I could feel it and it was pretty sensitive.

From my experience follow your gut - get a new dentist ! I will say though I love my dentist and he tried to ensure my filling was a good height w lots of bite tests and I still had to go back to have it adjusted ! So sometimes I think it just happens . My 2 cents . Follow your gut

It is not normal to experience all that. You gotta CHANGE your dentist. My new dentist redo the filling and everything is ok after just 30 mins. I had a very big cavity. You just have to find the right dentist. First try out their cleaning services, if that's not good. Don't expect filling to be good.

Had a superficial filling on a small broken part of nr 4 and still feel pain when putting pressure.Im in invisalign treatment 80% of the total treatment so i am used to hipersensitivity and tooth movement pain , this however is something different and the dentist is not sure nor the orthodontist.Maybe i should wait to check if it persists.It hurts only when bitting smth hard and complete or when putting pressure on that specific part of the tooth.

​​@@shaneschommer1074 if the fillling is high u can have it adjusted easily after a bite test. If not then probably the dentist left some gap or air bubble. If the filling is not deep then try applying sensitive toothpaste for 2-3 minutes and then brush for two mins. Try sensitive mouthwash also for 30-40s. See if it improves or not. If it's not decreasing then contact some other dentist. But skip the ones who're suggesting root canal for a small filling sensitivity. That should be a last resort

I had a filling 8 months ago, i had to go back 2 months ago to fix my bite because the doctor says my filling looks great on the X-rays that its probably the bite so they fixed my bite but now again after 2 months I’m still filling sensitivity, I called the office and I have another appointment but I don’t understand if my xr look so good and the filling wasn’t even close to the nerve why I’m still filling sensation when I chew. I NEVER had any bite problems or sensitivity until after they filled 3 teeth. One they didnt file down enough and it sticks out beyond all my other teeth and is not level or it's out of line with my top row of teeth & throwing off my bite. Then the original issue I went in for wasnt even fixed! There was an itchy tingling sensation inside the tooth and I was tokd a filling would fix. It didnt. The sensation is still there and returned the moment the numbing agent wore off. Then came the sharp pain too. But the sharp pain is on another tooth I didnt even have issies with when I came in! Smh. Its on the long tooth and the first thing they said was "root canal" over the phone, without even looking at it or saying they'd take an xray. It sucks because my insurance only covers that ONE dentist in the area. No other dental places. They wanted to fill a total of NINE teeth in my treatment plan after telling me I only need "a few" fillings. And they told me I had "beautiful teeth and just need to floss more." So why are they drilling NINE teeth 😭? Im going to see if they can fix what they did but they arent touching another tooth. All trust is gone. But what did they do for your filling too close to the nerve? It means they drilled too deep right? So did you have to get a root canal? Or were they able to refill it without touching the nerve?

Some dentist can drill to close to the( pulp) nerve during a filling. Unintentionally. The drill is very sensitive and sometimes they just go to deep. Another incident can be the cavity was just to deep and they do the filling anyway to see how your tooth reacts sometimes it works out and sometimes not. I had a filling done and it hurt for a month before it went away and sometimes it never hurts. Go back after two weeks for an examination.

It has been a several weeks after i got my filling done, it is not because of tooth decay though but it was just because the center of my tooth wear away😂😂😂 And now I'm struggling so much because of my tooth sensitivity it causes me headaches too😢 The most annoying part is that I don't know if it was because of the filling or if it was because of my habit - bruxism... My dentist recommended me to try mouth/night guard first and observe after 2-3 months if the pain goes away. But if not then I have to go through a root canal treatment😭😭😭 She said it is not painful and I'm not that scared but i don't know if I can survive waiting for a few months to see if the pain will go away😭😭😭😭😭😭

Its just crazy to me. I had 3 fillings on one side pain for a day and it went away. Then i had 5 fill ins on the other side by another dentist in office and all of a sudden a week later i feel sensitivity for two weeks my bite was off. So i go back to the dentist and he fixed it and said it should take a day or two to go away we will see. What if the tooth pain spreads sharply to the teeth bext to it in the same row all at the bottom when cold and even brushing is involved? It’s worth mentioning that I had 12 fillings and braces put in a week shot and this too is the one that has the end of the braces but also filling in it. My fillings for some are really deep I’ve had issues with my teeth since a young age he showed me my bottom teeth and one side was more decayed hand had larger and deeper holes than other side but if is what you say he never mentioned to me it would hurt this much sometimes if my tongue touches it it will ache for few hours and then sometimes it won’t ache randomly at all, it hurts a lot to mouthwash the cold anything cold the pain is unbearable and so spreads to the teeth in the same line but going towards the front and then the sudden sharpness pain goes but goes back to aching

One of your cavities was probably quite deep and close to the nerve which is why when the filling is done it must have been a large filling and the nerve seems to be involved at this stage since you are having constant pain, anything that touching the tooth causing the pain, so I strongly advise to go see a dentist to get this situation resolved. It does sound like there is a possibility of a root canal treatment required but it's best to have it checked by a dentist.

I had a 7 year old cavity that was pretty deep filled in 3 days ago, now that i had it filled in, my tooth is sensitive loke crazy! The slightest movement of my tongue can cause me great pain. Edit: i found out that i had a ear inflammation, the inflammation had caused both my ear and tooth to hurt. The medicine had stopped the ear pain but not the toothache. Get a second opinion before you let the dentist do a filling! I had a filling done and afterwards my filling is sensitive. My tooth seemed fine to me and I didn't see any cavity on the tooth that looks like a dracula tooth. I should've asked why I needed it instead of putting my trust in him. I had a filling a month ago where the dentist said it was a deep one and it has been hurting ever since. Now the pain is too much and I don’t know what to do.
