Cassandra let me tell you something I think you will like to read it. I am a teacher and I have oily skin. Yesterday one of my 8 years old girls asked me "what do you put on your face? It looks so bright, nice and glowy!" and I said I don't put anything it's just my natural oils lol and she said "you're so lucky". What do you think??? I felt so shocked and grateful at the same time!

Cassandra I love you. Have started targeting my acne in this holistic way since I discovered you a few months ago. And I have to say it's a long road, but at least I know where I am going :D What worked best for me was - living (raw) vegan and especially gluten-free (this changed a LOT!) - jojoba oil and tee tree oil as moisturizer (been stinking like this thing all time every time since then :D:D) - also switching to only natural organic products, and as few as possible (also the ordinary HELL YES!) - taking care of my ph level - apple cider vinegar - lemon water - taking supplements (esp. Vitamin C) Thank you for everything you have done yet, it is beautiful to watch your videos now from a perspective of "ah yeah, already doing that right" and at the same time getting more and more side hacks and tipps for refinement. I can't thank you enough! Just wanted to say that so people that are coming here understand that your approach will REALLY work and that as many people as possible experience the joy of touching their face without hatred. LOVE YOU ALL ❤️❤️❤️

Bless you for helping people with this. Years ago when I was in high school I had by far the worst cystic acne in my entire school. (that was out of about 3000 students) It was so emotionally torturous for me. But back then you just "sucked it up" and lived with it. It wasn't until my senior year that my dentist, while cleaning my teeth, commented on how bad it was and recommended I should see a dermatologist. Then I finally got on a path of healing.

Hey, I'm interested in your opinion on fungal acne. I never knew that sometimes breakouts can be brought on by a yeast imbalance in the skin. Kinda like yeast infections down there lol i think it would be a great topic to speak about because people don't know about it as much.

Quick question! I notice you mention Dr.Bronner's castile soap as a holy grail, but also mention that coconut oil can potentially be bad for your skin due to the larger molecular size of the oil, but I noticed there is coconut oil in the soap. I was wondering how this form of coconut oil in the soap doesn't break you out but other products with coconut oil do!
@hirat9730
@hirat9730 4 жыл бұрын
She actually went over this in a video that most acne products use a derivative fatty acid of coconut oil. That way only the useful fatty acid is included and not the irritant one.

@hazeltropix1170
@hazeltropix1170 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Evelyn, I have spent hours in makeup stores reading every freaking ingredient checking for silicone and trying to find natural acne makeup. If you are ok with some non comedogenic oil, the Juice beauty liquid foundation actually is sooo light but covers spots sooo well (Not a very good shade range), Then the bare mineral powder concealer is different then there foundation, and doesn't have any pore clogging ingredients. Also, I have found that that Tarte Amazonian clay does have silicone, but the oil free/clay aspects of it really dont break out a lot of people with acne, so its worth a try if oils break you out, thats what I am using rite now and it's been clearing my skin compared to oily makeup. Also, there is a makeup brand called Zuzu thats all natural, oil free, silicone free foundation. Hope this helps.

I've been using curology for the last 7 months and has worked so well for me. It's perscription skincare tailored to your skin type and I speak to the dermatologist whenever I have questions before I change something out so I don't give myself chemical burns... I use a lot of chemical exfoliaters. i follow Stephanie Nicole here on KZbin also and her skincare videos are beyond educational.. my skintype is sensitive/combination. Age 27. My morning skincare is completely different from my night time skincare. I use korres Greek yogurt foaming cream cleanser in the morning with my clarisonic, tone with thayers witch hazel- rose water toner, use Sunday Riley UFO acne oil, then drunk elephant vitamin c, then FRESH umbrian clay moisturizer and my spf. Night time, wash with my clarisonic and kiehls blue herbal acne cleanser, tone with THE ORDINARY glycolic acid toner ( which is 1% stronger than the pixi I was also using before-1/2 the cost & double the product) then tarte knockout toner with the lactic and salicylic acid, my CUROLOGY treatment and lastly moisturize with THE ORDINARY HA and natural moisturizing factors... This combination has worked for me. I hope some of these could work for you... Some are more expensive but they are well worth it.

Maja Karlsson I know you weren't asking me, but I also use this combo as a moisturizer, so maybe I can help. I use about 4-5 drops of jojoba oil with 1 drop if tea tree oil (as it is an essential oil and super concentrated, a little goes a long way)....additionally if I have a pimple that I feel needs a little more help, I wet a q-tip and apply one drop of tea tree oil and then dab the spot (or spots) with it, and repeat once every couple hours. The spot is usually gone by the next day if not within a couple hours

You have the most beautiful radiant energy and glow! I love when you geek out it totally shines through! Thank you so much for all the helpful information! Do you have any ideas or videos or could you start a series on what to do when you have your skin freaking out and need to start completely fresh? Both myself and my young adult son have an autoimmune issue that tends to flare up and we now appear to be sensitive to most everything. Is it best to just let the cystic acne run wild and use a cleanser for a week or what would you suggest? Neither one of us can even use the CeraVe or any of the gentle lotion and cleanser is from Roche Posey anymore. Frustrating when what used to work makes your skin burn.

I was put on Accutane when I was 15 and went on and off for 2 years. My cystic acne came back when I had kids and finally I found oils. Jojoba oil and tea tree oil has been my salvation! Oils use to terrify me and I just did it. Wish I knew about them when I was young. Accutane destroyed my gut. I am 44 now and have horrible stomach issues and I (and my doctor) blame Accutane.

I am still suffering from cystic acne, I am using a lot of the same products but the shaving tool you use would obviously irritate existing cysts. So my question is if I use an electric shaver will that still help?or is the main reason for shaving to remove that top "flakey " layer of skin?

what has helped with my cystic/hormonal acne a ton has been the burts bees complexion stick! It is a tiny bottle with essential oils like tea tree oil and salicylic acid, i love it, its a little drying but not as drying as salicylic acid itself of benzoyl peroxide and it doesnt make be breakout more. It helps my cystic acne go down really fast and prevent new ones! It comes with a roll on but i take it off since i believe it is unsanitary, but I totally recommend it :) ( i also recommend a gentle glycolic acid face wash )

Zinc Oxide works for some peoples. Unfortunately it is WHITE. Choose the one with high concentration above 30%. Diaper rash ointment is close to it. Sometimes calamine lotion based on Ferrous Oxide works for others.

i also use dr bronners tea tree soap as a cleanser, only i use the bar version instead not the liquid. Its the only cleanser I ever use and it takes all my makeup off as well. I love it! I also use the pixi glow tonic as a toner and i use the ordinary retinoid 2% - at night or sunday riley luna. For moisturiser I use Dr. jart ceramidin liquid and its really good, it doesnt break me out at all :) Also something i have tried in the past that worked well for acne was Effaclar duo plus by la roche- parsay.

How do you feel about not washing at all? I have had AWFUL acne for about 10 years, and no matter how natural, balancing, etc I buy the acne gets worse if anything but water touches my face. Even witch hazel, any kind of oil, anything at all. While it's working for me for now, I still feel like I must be doing something wrong by never doing anything at all. I totally respect your opinion!

Sofia Quiroz it works wonders for me! But i use it for acnemarks and scars too. I use glycolic acid foam cleanser with a face cleaning brush from phillips, and then i put organic vitamin e oil on my face and then i go to sleep and it works wonders!!!! I helped my acne alot with drinking water ALOT, and green tea, warm lemon juice water with straw, nettle tea, dandelion tea, and more mixes of teas to control my hormones wich is causing me acne :)

So, years back I had first seen a piece on you - on television (can't remember where or what) on how you were able to cover up your acne with your specific makeup routine. I had watched several of your videos to get an idea of what products you used, and what techniques you applied to your everyday makeup routine. I myself had suffered from acne, from the age of 14 and all through my adult years. All I ever did was "cover up". Years later, you came to mind (as I was still experiencing breakouts) - "Let me find that girl online that had really really bad skin, and reviewed the beauty products that helped her 'cover up' her blemishes". Well I find you, only now, you have CLEAR SKIN, and I'm like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat! Don't mean to sound rude, but I thought, "If this girl managed to clear HER skin, than there's hope for ERRRRRRBODY!!!"! So, I started watching your videos on the products that cleared your skin. O-M-G, let me tell you....if you wanted to help at least ONE person, you sure as heck did! Last year (after the first few videos I watched) I ran my butt to Target and bought me some Dr. Bronner's Hemp and Tea Tree Soap. I also headed over to Trader Joe's and purchased the Vitamin E Oil, along with the Tea Tree Oil. These THREE products alone have changed my skin TREMENDOUSLY!!!!!!!!!! After the very first wash of my skin with the Dr. Bronners, I literally had dirty skin rolling off my face - as if I just scraped away YEARS of dirt and oil - (looked like eraser bits) YUCKKKKKK!!! But, what I felt beneath after I patted my skin dry was what I can only describe as NEW SKIN!!!! I saw this brightness to my face that I hadn't seen, like ever - or that I can remember. I admit that my diet isn't the best either. I like the occasional soda, a bag of chips, chocolate, and ice cream - which I know are horrible and can effect your exterior. My skin NEVER failed to break out when I went into snack mode - especially after a bag of salty chips. However, not that I want to encourage those types of eating habits to anyone, but I can totally snack and I will NOT breakout. I usually can "feel" when a breakout is about to happen, and by the next day I'll have a mountain on my face (never fails). NOT ANYMORE. Say I begin to feel a breakout, I'll immediately dab some Tea Tree Oil right on the area at night, and absolutely nothing appears on my face the next day- like...nothing!!! I seriously have endlessly bragged to everyone I know about these products because not only do they WORK, but they are not at all harsh on the skin. It just feels like you are bathing your skin in mother nature, and she's rewarding you with healthy skin. Sorry for my LONG comment. But, I just wanted to thank you, thank you, thank you for really educating many of us about these products. I find myself wearing less and less makeup, and sometimes none at all because I'm just very pleased with my skin these days! You should be PROUD!

Thank you for always recommending well researched products and always teaching us the science behind the products. I was wondering about the oils you use to moisturize as I am learning that oils are emollients not hydrators because they are anhydrous and can seal in moisture that is already present, but don't themselves deliver moisture. Have you come across this claim?

Loved this video! Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely have to try some of these products! Have you tried CeraVe foaming facial cleanser? I've been wondering if that is a good and safe cleanser for acne prone skin. Also, what are your thoughts on maracuja oil? I've been using the one from Tarte cosmetics for over a year now and it seems to give good hydration to the skin and actually helps with not making my face oily as fast throughout the day. I put it on at night, as well as mix it with my moisturizer and apply it before I put on my foundation. And it doesn't break me out, which is a definite plus :)
