Matthew McConaughey could have taken the same downward path a lot of pretty-boy actors did with their acting roles. Instead, he took the independent film route in his career and starred in more serious stuff like The Lincoln Lawyer, Bernie, Killer Joe, and yes Dallas Buyers Club. He really has become a respected actor.

Hot take: I’m a die hard fan of Batman n it’s entire offshoots, I originally didn’t like Patterson in Twilight now I am speechless on how point he did as Bruce Wayne ( the director also helped because he obviously styled it on point as well). I personally don’t like Joker the character, it’s really overused a lot in Batman plots there’s more better villains that could use screen time. I just love how of all people Joaquin Phoenix as Joker made me start liking the character, how light colored with dark sense of humor is my type of Joker, that’s why I loved Jack Nicholson as Joker. I’m sure Phoenix was heavily influenced by Jack’s Joker.

The Brendan Fraser segment was rather condescending and misleading. Seriously Mojo, I've seen you do better than this. From School Ties to Gods and Monsters and the Quiet American, Brendan has ALWAYS had fine dramatic performances. You made it sound like The Whale was his first venture into serious roles. Throughout the timeframe you cited, half of them were serious. Fifty percent. No less than SIXTEEN excellent dramatic performances, 11 comedies and 4 action roles between 1991 and 2010. The lack of critical respect was not because he didn't earn or deserve it. It was due to typecasting him and pure ignorance of his career. Moreover, critics and other snotty film buffs should get the heck off their high horse and learn to appreciate his lighter roles. He is simply marvelous in those as well. And NOT the same character in each of them at all. Take a much closer look at how he crafts and performs each of them. Don't look at the description on paper. Look at how he plays them - each distinctively.

The Joker is not supposed to be a victim of anything, he is just pure madness and evil. That's why his creator never wanted to give the character a backstory.
