You left out Saoirse Ronan in Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird and Little Women. That Irish actress can certainly speak in a flawlessly fluent American accent.

Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman play Americans so much that I forget that they are Australian. Since the actors on this list don't have to be living, you forgot about Bob Hoskins and Vivien Leigh. The first time I heard Bob Hoskins in a movie where he had an English accent, I thought it was fake because I had only ever heard him play New Yorkers.
@olliesmith2890 Жыл бұрын
Idris Elba and Christian Bale have mastered the US accent so well, that they sound more American than some actual Americans. Andrew Lincoln should be here from The Walking Dead, if you make a television version.

You forgot Hugh Laurie in "House". When I first saw the series, I had no idea that he was British, so when I saw him on one of the late night interviewers(Carson?), I was shocked! Not only by his voice, but his personality and mannerisms are totally opposite of House.
@liisaking1247 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that Laurie says it *never* becomes easy, that speaking in an American accent is always something he does very consciously. Very different from someone like Tom Holland, who can go back and forth, switching accents, even within the same sentence (apparently effortlessly).
@degraafenator Жыл бұрын
After growing up watching Hugh Laurie in 'Blackadder', 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' and 'Jeeves and Wooster' I knew he was British. When I watched House I thought the Australian character's accent was an awful fake, turns out the guy is Australian so the accent was real. I'm a Kiwi, I should have been able to recognise it as authentic.

Why is Benedict Cumberbatch not on this list? Here is a man who can transform himself, literally lose himself, in whatever character he plays, including vocally! He can do any voice needed, including Bostonian--which is very difficult to pull off, and sound PERFECT!

I'm convinced that Toni Colette was left off of this list because the writers don't know she's a Kiwi. She should have been number 1 for just about every movie she's been in. Just pick a random film of hers and she's probably doing an accent. She plays an American so often that most people think she's American. When you hear her real voice, it's shocking.

As I blind person, I’ve been trained to recognize voices. There have been several times that it has surprised me when someone turns out not to be British, or not to be American, but I would have no trouble whatsoever, knowing that Jim Carrey was the Grinch. While he tries to sound more like a Grinch than himself, he still sounds like Jim Carrey acting like Jim Carrey to me. Everyone else, though, I was very surprised by, except for Meryl Streep, that lady is just a genius.

Kristen Stewart looked, sounded, and moved absolutely nothing like Princess Diana. She looked, sounded, and moved like a child dressed as Princess Di for Halloween. I think Mike Myers, Karen Gillan, and Alfred Molina could be on here because the Shrek voice is so iconic it's a little weird to hear him talk normally, Gillan has a Scottish accent so it's the weirdest thing to hear her talk in real life, and Molina has a British accent even though his voice is synonymous with Doc Ock.
