This list is going to be Cobra figures / toys only, as the Joes had hardly any army building options in the 3.75" scale.
Whether you're a fan of the Vipers, underwater Eels, Snow Serpents or Android Troopers, this list of retro favorites is for you.

I really like your list. I would say it's almost perfect. I would have mentioned the cobra Tela Viper. Troops have to communicate. The only other figure that is a glaring Omission is the Cobra officer. Remember he leads Frontline attack units into battle. The only other one I can think of that deserves honorable mention would be the Cobra desert scorpion. He is an awesome figure to Army build. It's also the only environmental theme you forgot. However I really like your choices and I agree that you covered the majority of the best of the best of Cobra.

Yeah i wonder if I need to revisit the list in a few years and add the tele-viper. I've sorta just lumped in the Cobra Officer with the Cobra 83 enemy trooper in a way. As for the desert scorpion... hes neat but maybe I just lack experience with him: the only one I own is a sealed Funskool version so I didnt give him much love. Thanks for your feedback!

I would have liked to have done more troop-building when I bought my vintage collection, but I mostly stuck to just two of each. But I do have five Vipers, Three Crimson Guard, Three Toxo-vipers and several Moto-Vipers to man miscelaneous vehicles. Now I'm collecting Classified. I just ordered 3 AlleyVipers and 5 B.A.Ts! Night Viper is my favourite, so I'm gonna buy a ton of them.

I have been collecting Joe's since 2006 and began slowly Army Building 1985 Crimson Guards back then but stopped around 2008 and just recently started back up Army Building them. I wish I would have bought more back then when they were going for about $25-30 a pop. Now they have pretty much doubled in price. I only need a few more ;) as I am trying to have a small Platoon of them. I have a very nice 1985 SEARS Exclusive CAT and two 1985 SEARS SMS complete for them. I also Army build 1985 Snow Serpents and 1989 Night Vipers, although I do not have quite as many of those as I do Crimson Guards.

I just got one cobra trooper My only joe figure... ofcourse is cobra because im the comander...

I do think Alley vipers should be higher on the list. They are brightly colored to emphasize toughness and intimidate enemies, A set I like from the 1998 line is the one with two cobra "troopers" (in blue) and one "officer" (in grey). These are repaints of the Viper mold (with BAT legs) but look nice and fill out a HISS tank nicely

I have about 1000 troops in my joe universe. Not all GI joe of course but I’m working on my blue and red troops with officers.

my top 3 would be 1. Cobra Viper. 2. Crimson Guard. 3. Cobra Trooper!! I never had the original bat i only had the Version 2 BAt which I thought was pretty badass. but headhunter stormtrooper would be in top 10 for me.

That's unusual.. what type do you have the most of; Slaughter's Marauders version, Triple T Driver, or Warthog Driver? I got the Triple T when I was a kid, and there is a nice minty Warthog in my current collection. I also bought a MIB Equaliser for $150! Do you collect Slaughter's Marauders too? Those sub-groups are nice to collect coz they usually just have a handful of figures and a few vehicles.
