Best around but that doesn’t change the quality of the badges themselves. If you were to get hero’s crest that early then it wouldn’t be a game anymore. It’d practically be like playing it in auto mode, but you can never lose.

@@bigyoshii I am not saying it's a bad badge, just that due to you getting it so late that most things are already done needs to be taken into consideration. It still is probably number one but it might be possible that double pain comes close or surpasses it just because of how easily and early you can get it.

This is a pretty solid list but Attack FX R should had been at least in the top three as it makes Hooktail(the hardest boss in the game) actually possible to beat. like wtf dude putting the Hero's Crest above Attack FX R you need Attack FX R to even think about getting the Hero's Crest.

SMH my head, you made this way harder on yourself. If you beat Phonetail as Purple Mario Freddy Fazbear will appear and take you straight to Mario's house without having to go back to Glitzville and wasting time singing. Yes getting Purple Mario again after chapter 4 requires ram manipulation and the secret e-reader bonus card only released on the island of Fiji 2 months before TTYD came out in Japan and only works in the German version, but it saves .04 seconds on average which makes it more than worth it for truly efficient play. It's like you barely even know this game.

Look, I have literally no Stake in this since I have never, nor will ever play TTYD over 64, but you are kinda being an elitest asshat here. Simplifier Is good for newer players who dont have the timing for all enemies and action command. For them its Good, period; for experienced people its not. You can't say that its an Objectivly useless badge when circumstance and variety is the main draw of the games, for example Last Stand may as well be worthless if your rocking 90+ Max HP but it can be the cornerstone of an entire Pit Run If you only have 10 Max Its all circumstantial. Just cause Simplifier is useful in far less situations than other badges and that it may not be "Optimal" doesn't make it worthless. To use an oppisite example It can be an Optimal to use a Maxed out Tidal Wave in 64, doesn't mean that performing the action command isn't a factor in how good of a stat it is, of that relying on close call to remain in peril can result in a quicker kill but Luck is also a factor (Before you harp on me, of course I know that relying on luck Is not a good strat and probably looked down on, but your acting like it's Black and White when its so obviously Grey). I Agree that for a challenge run Tier List Simplifier should be at the bottom, but thats only a segment of how to play the game. Tiers can be shifted around for things as simple as: Mob fights, Bosses, Speedruns and different Challenge Runs. Dont act like your view is the only view and beat down anoyone who doesn't agree. Also despite Saying that you have no problem with Casuals you immediatly say that thier opinion doesn't matter and that they shouldn't voice them, cause they arn't Experienced. To go a bit further, that doctor analogy of yours has the same issue as your point. A Doctor(High level Player/Tier List Maker) only paying attention to Colds(Challenge runs) can say that this Antidote(Badge/Strat) will work the best. But If the Patient is allergic to the antidote (could be because of being inexperienced, bad at certain action commands or gaurds/super gaurd) then that doctor wont be as/or helpful at all and the random guy who is tinking about other dieases(About circumstance) it could be would be better.

Okay, since Fatguy forgot to mention Phonetail’s stats, I suppose I’ll do it for you! Phonetail has 300HP, 5 defense power, and 12 attack power. And yes, all of his attacks pierce defense and he is immune to electricity. Therefore, Zap Tap, Volt Shrooms, and Thunder Rages are completely useless against this guy! So right off the bat, he is no force to be reckoned with! His attacks include a stomp with a 10% chance to immobilize you if you don’t block, a chomp with a 30% chance to poison you, and breath which has a 50% chance to either: -Freeze you (Blue) -Shrink you (Purple) -Confuse you (Green) -Put you to sleep (White) -Make you dizzy (Yellow) -Burn you (Red) -Slow you down (Orange) -Soften you (Pink) Quite an arsenal for just breathing fire, wouldn’t you say? Make sure you guard well! He can also occasionally create an earthquake that does 20 damage and (get this) breaks through invisibility and veil! That not enough for ya? How about his version of the Megabreath, which he will charge on the first turn and then deal 50 damage to both Mario and his partner! Mamma Mia! Luckily, the Megabreath doesn’t break through veil, so that’s nice. Okay, all that definitely seems overpowered, but in all honesty, Phonetail is not infallible. All of his attacks can be superguarded, but it’s really difficult. He cannot heal at all and he does need to recharge for 2 turns after using the Megabreath. And although he’s immune to all status ailments, he can still take damage from items like Fire Flower, Shooting Star, and Ice Storm, but that might not be the best way of dealing with him. And it should be noted that Phonetail does have a 1% chance of being defeated by Showstopper, but it’s not something I would recommend doing without savestates! Needless to say, this is a boss that can really smoke you if you come unprepared, so make sure you’re ready for the worst! Also, Hero’s Crest costs 8BP to wear, making it the most expensive badge in the game.

Goombella is by no means weak, she just isn't as strong as the already incredibly powerful cast. Everyone else has all targeting attacks or special gimmicks which offset their weaknesses massively. Yoshi for example has a better attack that grows massively from power boosts, has a piercing ground attack, can egg enemies even on the ceiling, and... well everyone but the Mouse can hit multiple enemies at once. Goombella's benefit... is Rally Wink which requires setup to get use out of... which everyone has better set ups or gimmicks which are incredibly useful such as Stealing, Shell Shield, lighting everyone on fire, ect...

I feel like you're missing some obvious choices, like Double Pain, Slow Go and especially Tornado Jump. I mean, really? Not Tornado Jump? My favorite badge is the boss bunch badge. It’s the most elusive badge in the game cause the journal doesn’t recognize that it exists. In order to find it, go all the way back to the shadow queens room use Vivian to hide and wait 30 in game minutes for the treasure box to arise. It lets you refight any boss of your choice by re-entering the boss room with this badge equipped. These bosses are supercharged compared to their OG versions so watch out. For anyone who couldn’t tell by this point I’m memeing

The Hero's crest is a good choice, but I feel it should be mentioned it was nerfed in the American and Pal releases. In the Japanese version, it would also supreguard Marilyn's Lightning and Bonetail's bite. It also was compatible with simplifier in that version, so you could get bonus star energy. So realistically, simplifier should be ranked higher on this list for its Japanese utility with the Hero's Crest.

Nice list, but I disagree with the statement of Goombella being “pretty lackluster.” In my opinion she’s one of the best partners. Her damage output is on par with Mario’s jump and power bounce, and she can use rally wink to give Mario a second turn (Basically giving you two Marios on that turn) While tattle is somewhat useless if you use peekaboo, the completionist inside me likes to tattle on every battle anyways, not to mention the fun quotes of dialogue she states with the stats. EDIT: Just realized this is an April fools video...

While Rally Wink does give Mario a 2nd turn... but Shell Shield also functionally does. What are you doing on that turn that another partner can not for more FP then just having them do it? Her damage output while good... if you put any buffs on Yoshi raising attack due to how his REGULAR ATTACK works deals obscene damage compared to her. She can only single target. Everyone else has some gimmick or multi-hits which offset their weaknesses and lets them hit enemies they normally could not except for Koops and Goombella. Goombella lacks anything other then single target and Mario. Anything Mario has worth using Rally Wink for costs so much FP or BP that you're better off using anyone else or Shell Shield to ensure Mario takes no damage against a boss (The time Rally might be useful) for far less of a cost and possibly surviving 2 attacks with one skill being used. Goombella is powerful... just everyone is powerful in more meaningful ways leading to Goombella being a tad less desirable to use.

Oh! So Hero's Crest is just an edited Debug Badge? (Or does it have edited in effects the Debug Badge doesn't have? I dunno everything it does.) In any case, skillfull editing of the game, Fatguy! I half-expected a phone-headed Bonetail to crash the game! My favorite badges are Attack FX G because it has the cutest FX, & Tornado Jump, Power Smash & Piercing Blow because their Stylishes look great! Head Rattle's effect is fun, too, & I also like Unsimplifier & Double Pain. I dislike Peekaboo (Tattles are fun to read!), Feeling Fine, Feeling Fine P, First Attack & Bump Attack. (Because half the fun is the Challenge & seeing everything the game has to offer. Plus, I like getting SP.) Simplifier is fine, though; Some Action Commands could stand to be easier.
