Pro tip for anyone exploring confusing areas, always make a marking every few meters either on your left or right(if you choose left, then always do left and vica versa), that way when you want to go back you just make sure the markings are always on the opposite side.

"Curiosity killed the cat /but satisfaction brought him back/" is the full altered idiom. Curiosity may have been dangerous, but finding those answers, satisfying that curiosity, is a strong, deeply satisfying thing. The 'original', scholars think, is from the play 'Every Man in His Humor' by Ben Johnson. "... hang sorrow, care will kill a cat, up-tails and all, and a pox on the hangman.". It speaks to allowing yourself to let sorrow go, otherwise the worry will kill you. If not physically, then emotionally. =D

Probably because it’s over 300 ft (it sounds like it hasn’t been measured at the deepest point) deep and they weren’t experienced divers. Water that deep can cause what’s called nitrogen poisoning and can give you hallucinations. They were kids. They were also there at night. Any of those could be why. Or maybe a combination of them.
