Leaving panda garra off of this list is an epic fail! Furthermore, cherry shrimp are not compatible with most fish on this list, are more of a clean up crew than an algae eater and you need a lot of them to just do a little bit.

Whoa whoa! It would be a crime to not include cherry shrimp. They will eat anything they can pick up. Algae and biofilm included. Basically a must have if you're doing plants! They'll clean those leaves. Plus, you might need a lot, but they're cheap, very small, and create a very low bio-load. They also reproduce easily in a communal environment and can easily be put in a separate 20 gallon breeder tank colony if desired.
