I would guess this video was made by someone trying to dissuade people from moving to Canada. I have lived in both the USA and Canada. Google everything I say here. All of it. 1st. The murder rate in Canada is about 4 times lower than the USA. Canada = about 1.4 per 100,000 whereas the US average is 5 per 100,000 (Google it) secondly. Milton, Ontario has a super low crime rate. One of the lowest in all of North America. Ottawa is ONLY cold in the winter months (Mid December to April). Summers in all of Southern Ontario are VERY hot and humid. If you are coming from most places in Europe you will notice a huge difference in the amount of rainy days as Southern Ontario has VERY few. Most rain falls rapidly within a few hours during thunderstorms. Full days of rain are probably under 10 per year. Again Google it. Richmond Hill a VIOLENT Crime rate??? Notice how they focused on that and put it in a HUGE red font. Google the crime rate of Richmond hill and then google 3 or 4 cities of equal population in the USA. Richmond Hill is VERY safe and has a VERY low crime rate. I have no clue how the dreamt up this list but I would look elsewhere for information that is accurate as this IS NOT!

Like a lot of other comments on this video, I too find this information vastly different than my experiences. I have lived the longest in Hamilton, ON and Vancouver, BC but have also lived in Burlington, Toronto, Milton, briefly in Ottawa and Kelowna. First off, while Hamilton is a very old steel manufacturing town, the city is changing drastically. Nearly 80% of the steel manufacturing out of the city has been shut down. Employment is switching from a blue collar industrial population to a more educated white collar and artsy community. Boasted for one of the best art scenes (both visual and theatrical), Hamilton is far from being a boring city. While the blue collar, middle class, caucasian population still predominates over the city, it is changing to a more diverse population as the unaffordable Toronto losses residents. While stats may show Hamilton as having a high crime rate, the rate of incidental or random crime in the city is quite low compared to Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver. Secondly, the Vancouver area. Vancouver proper is very expensive to buy and renting is near impossible. Richmond, while having a highly diverse population is dead after 9pm and very wet most of the year. Other communities that weren't mentioned in this video is Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster and Langley. Both Burnaby and Coquitlam boast highly educated and diverse populations. The rental cost of living in Burnaby, Coquitlam, or New West is just over 1/3 the average citizen's income. Burnaby, New West, and Coquitlam hold very low crime rates, however, wildlife is something to be concerned about in all three communities; Bears, Mountain Lions, and Coyotes are quite common in Coquitlam and Coyotes in New West and Burnaby. Burnaby, New West, and Coquitlam all have easy public transit to and from city centers including Vancouver. Langley, while having a longer commute, less in-town employment opportunities, and higher crime rates than the previous three, is vastly less expensive to live in and has a relatively high vacancy rate throughout the year. Thirdly, Burlington and Milton Ontario. I clump these two cities together because they have many similarities. First, the random crime rate in both cities is fairly high. Incidents of people being randomly robbed or having their person assaulted is twice the rate than that of organized crime in the city. Secondly, the racial and sexual crime rate against those of non-Caucasian-Heterosexual people is higher than larger cities or even of near by Hamilton. Finally, both communities are very boring with little to no night life for most of the year. You'll find yourself heading to Toronto, Mississauga, or Hamilton to find fun. I know the comment is long but I find this video to be horribly misinformed. Feel free to take a longer look at the cities that I have mentioned in the comment; I am a big supporter of getting information from several sources to gain a more informed look or where to live. I did not touch upon Toronto, Ottawa, or Kelowna because I feel the video or comments do those communities justice or that other information on the interwebs does a better job at describing them.

Hispanic? There are a lot of Hispanic communities in Canada. I would tend towards southern Ontario communities (Hamilton, St. Catherines, Grimsby all come to mind), Toronto - Barrie area isn't bad either. It really depends on what type of work your looking into. Calgary may be another option. Burnaby has one of the most diverse populations in Canada and there are a number of Hispanic communities in the lower mainland of BC. I would stay away from Winnipeg and Edmonton as they tend to hold fairly staunch racial lines (although that may have changed in the last 5 years). Quebec may be another possibility, although you would need to withstand cold and learn french (at least somewhat) to get by comfortably. Regina and Saskatoon are also known for their fairly high tolerance for diversity but again, need to withstand the cold. While Vancouver, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver are fairly expensive places to live (based on % of income to living expenses ratio), the lower mainland of BC is a very tolerant place and there is more than the Vancouver area. Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Delta, Surrey, and Langley are all within reasonable distance to the Vancouver city center. Again, it really depends on what type of employment one is looking for, how much disposable income one wants, what types of concessions one is willing to make, etc. If tolerance to ethnic diversity is really the only consideration, then the places I have mentioned would all suit quite well. Except Calgary (city outskirts) all other are terribly expensive. The problem with Calgary is that its terribly cold during winter. Most of the immigrants are massed in Toronto and the GTA just because their fellow countrymen are living there. Brampton looks like New Delhi , Richmond Hill and Markham are Chinese towns and Scarborough has a flavour of Bagdad . If you compare housing and living expenses to salaries there is a huge gap. An old crappy apartment in the GTA will cost you at least 400,000 Canadian dollars and the best you can do as an immigrant unqualified worker is 24,000 to 30,000 dollars net per year. Plus you need a car to survive the winter. The answer to all these is DEBT . Mortgages , car loans , LOCs, credit cards will consume most of household income living nothing for savings. Take also into consideration that old age pension feels more like a tip and you have the perfect mix for a life time failure.

Most of Canada has a very long cold winter. The Vancouver area is the only place in Canada where winter is tolerable but the housing cost is so high that you will have to work two jobs just to keep yourself in a small room. Canada is a horrible place for immigrants who come from warmer climates. This video is old and things have changed for the worse since it was uploaded. The economy is almost collapsed in Alberta and the housing prices in British Columbia have skyrocketed.

Saying "Winter in Canada" tells me that this person is totally uninformed. Every province in Canada has different climates. Winters in Southern Ontario are mild and relatively short. Moreover, Cities like London, Ontario, St. Catherines, Windsor, Ontario etc... are as Souther or more South than many US cities. These cities are 43 & 42 Latitude which is more South than many major US cities such as Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis etc... BUT Vancouver and Victoria have a growing zone of 8b which is why you can find unprotected palm trees growing there. KZbin search "Palm Trees in Canada" The economy in Southern Ontario is FANTASTIC. Toronto is in a super boom which is why housing is so expensive... There is a HUGE demand for housing.

The best place to live is in Ancaster Ontario in my opinion. Very cheap houses (500k for a 3 bedroom detached house with a Pool) and only a 15 minute drive to the major city of Hamilton's downtown core.

This is a misleading video. It might work for immigrants that bring lots of loot with them, but poor immigrants should stick to Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and points east. West Vancouver is expensive even for established Canadians. Ottawa is probably the best bet for poorer immigrants. The government is likely to have lots of decent jobs and they are faithful to hiring a mix of ethnic citizens. Western Canada is probably less welcoming to ethnic immigrants than the east. They don't even like Canadians from the Eastern Canada!!! Anywhere can be welcoming if you come with loot and the right attitude. Don't expect people to open their doors in Western Canada if you insist on wearing your ethnic dress and bring old attitudes with you. If you are comfortable with the French language, try the Province of Quebec and parts of Atlantic Canada, where French is routinely spoken.

Richmond BC is for the rich. If you can afford to spend over 1.5 million dollars, you can get a house. Bus transportation is miserable, it rains a lot in winter. The good thing is there are lots of great Chinese supermarkets with fresh fish, imported foods from SE Asia. Restaurants are reasonably priced too, and there is a new social center being built.

Richmond is mostly Indian, Markham most Chinese, anything near Montreal is racist, with a high crime rate (the Mafia is alive and well there, along with numerous biker gangs), Milton is just too far away from the city and has horrible transit, Mississauga isn't too bad, but transit isn't very good, and you really need a car to get around, and it's not cheap either. Funny how my city, Toronto proper, wasn't on the list. It's boasts the highest mixture of ethnic diversity on the planet, so no matter where you're from, you'll find a place to feel right at home. We have one of the lowest crime rates on earth for a city our size, but, yes, there are draw backs. It very crowded, our transit is expanding, but is still lacking, making it a task to get around. Our traffic is, well, when LA complains our traffic is bad, that says something. The rents can be quite high, averaging about $1100 to $1400 for a one bedroom, but hundreds of thousands live right downtown, most walk everywhere!

+RealSekator Not exactly, I live near Dollard des Ormeaux, and it was named after Dollard des Ormeaux, a historic Quebec Pioneer who, with about 16 of his buddies went out to kill the native people and his whole troupe got massacred. The translation is "Dollard of the elms". the Montreal area used to be forested with many huge elm trees until the Dutch Elm disease killed most of them off. I personally remember one such tree close to where I lived at that time on Baie d' Urfe (also a West Island suburb of Montreal, and also a historic site dating back to 1686). That tree was about 250 feewt high and had a trunk some 4 feet in diameter! When it got diseased they had to curt it down as it became a public danger because of its huge branches high up that could have killed someoione if they fell on a person in a storm. also It towered over electric power lines, adding to the danger. Personally I am trilingual, English, French and Spanish and use them all frequently enough, especially being one who had a lot to say to many, and LOVE public speaking.

All immigrants should move to Saskatchewan. The province is rated 90.8 on the UN's Human Development Index and is much cheaper to live in than Alberta, British Columbia or Ontario. Quebec you need to know French to find a job, so I suggest Saskatchewan!

Honestly, Dollard des Ormeaux isn't that bad. The crime rate isn't that bad, or at least it's not as bad as the video makes it out to be. And Le Pont Champlain is pretty much the place to go if you want to be stuck in traffic for the rest of your life...so I don't recommend living in Brossard if you want to work in Montreal.

Not an answer to american miseries about Trump... 1) Canada is not equipped to handle 80 million or more Americans who might want to deluge us to escape from "Trump tyranny". Our whole population is only about 35 million and we do not have anywhere near the infrastructures that would be needed for an influx of that size. Therefore it would only behoove our government to be appropriately picky about who and how many we can safely immigrate, and ongoing, at what rate. But looking at what has transpired in various other troubled countries, they have all had to develop their own fixes independently, no matter how downtrodden, oppressed or impoverished they were/are. I think this will prove to be the case for the U.S., but it will NOT be an easy one, it never was and never will be. As a trilingual Canadian, I'm sooty to say, the narrator here really doesn't know how to pronounce all those names. I personally live or have lived in or near many of them. eg. dollard des Ormeaux (dollAR dez ormOH) Dollard des Ormeaux is historic. translated "Dollard of the Elms" in his time he and 16 of his colleagues went to gfight the native people. all of them were slaughtered. I personally have seen in my time elm trees some 250 feet high with trunks as thick as 4 feet. Unfortunately most of them are lost due to the problem of Dutch Elm disease. when this happened, some of these huge trees had to be felled with great care to avoid their branches falling on wires, buildings, vehicles or people. Given the height and size of these brances their falling could cause serious disasters. Mississauga: This name, to me comes from the Algonquin Natives, of time historic. It is pronounced (MIS-iss-SAW'-gah), ther is no sound of the letter u. Burlington: In between Missisauga and Burlington lies Oakville where, until the age of 11 I grew up. Oakville was known as the righest town in Canadam but since then, while it still is affluent,m it may no longer be the richest. Oakville historically gets its name from the past making of barrel staves which were made from oak. In Oakville, you can find plenrty of oak trees, and they, too are very large, giving rist to hordes of squirrels. +Ana Fonseca Many videos here have that problem. I listen to them with the sound pumped through an auxiliary amplifier,. If I wanted to correct that, I would have to download, transcode, edit and correct the sound, then recompile with the corrected sound track and render the corrected video, but kif they were based on the Standard You Tube license, that would not make it legal for me to re-upload, si it would have to sit in my personal electronic library. If the video is of little significance, I can separate the audio by transcoding, then treat just the audio using Audacity, but that also takes time when I have a huge multilinguial collection!

He and some 16 of his colleagues went out to fight the local indoians and they all were massacred! Literally, the name means "Dollard of the Elms". this area used to be inhabited bu a very thick coverage of huge elm trees, but back in about the 60's, most of then either died or had to be taken down for reasons of public safety due to the ravages of the Dutch Elm disease.
